The Great Escape of the Past

"You little fucker!" We heard Mike shout. Then all of a sudden we heard a gun shot. I quickly hurried to where they were, but I stopped dead in my tracks. I was shocked beyond belief.

There lying on the ground was a lifeless James. I mean, I was actually glad it was James. I didn't want to lose me best friends. Then that's when it hit me.

He kept his promise.

After all this time he remembered. Even after all the shit he put me through.

"Dude, this party is gonna be sick!" James yelled. It was freshman year and the first Friday into the new school year. James and I are still on amazing terms.

"Let's just hope we can keep our liquor." I acted motherly. Both of us had amazing girlfriends and we didn't want to do anything stupid while we're drunk and high off our asses.

"Yeah, I don't want to upset Joanna when I can't handle myself." Joanna is James's girlfriend at the time.

"The feeling is mutual." We arrive at the party. You can instantly smell the strong scent of liquor. There were horny teenagers everywhere. When I say everywhere, I MEAN EVERYWHERE!

I see Joanna walk up to James. All of a sudden, there were tears in his eyes. He ran over to me nearly sobbing.

"Can we get it of here? I kind don't want to party anymore." James said through his hicupping cries.

"Yeah, sure." We walk over to my car and we get in. James looked broken but yet something in his eyes changed. I couldn't put my finger on it, I just shrugged it off.

"Vic, promise me that whenever one of is gets out of a break up and we need someone, we'll be there for each other."

"Yeah, I promise." I replied sincerely.
