Chapter 6

He wanted to meet me outside, after school. What could the possible reason be? I nearly drove myself crazy that final class of the day, imagining a million different scenarios. He probably needed help with getting caught up on work.. I sighed.

"Lena!" Mrs. Gresham screamed at me. I realized I had been staring into space, oblivious to the world around me. Apparently she had called my name multiple times.

"Ma'am?" I am such an idiot.

"See me after class." Great, fucking great. Hopefully I could afford a few minutes and still make it in time to meet Tristan. I would have texted him, except my mom still had my phone in her possession.

The announcements sounded overhead and the room emptied as students rushed out. I trudged over to Mrs. Gresham's desk.

"Your grade is dropping. Why have you not been putting forth any effort?" I sighed. I couldn't tell her that I just didn't give a fuck. I couldn't tell her that I was constantly day-dreaming about the new kid and his perfect smile.

"I do put forth effort. I just have a lot on my mind," I shrugged. "Can I go? I'm going to miss my bus." She glared, but nodded. I took the opportunity to rush from the room before she could question me further. I'm such a terrible student.

I stopped by the front office, using their phone to call my mom and ask if she could come get me from school later. I had an, umm, project to work on.

I ran to the courtyard, searching. I saw him. He was sitting at a bench. He looked sad, I think he thought I had forgotten about him. His eyes turned to me and he met my gaze.

His entire demeanor changed as he saw me. His face lit up and a grin captured his countenance. I walked to him and sat down next to him. "Hi."

"Hey," he grinned wider.

"So, what's up?" I asked, wondering why he wanted me to meet him here.

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out on Saturday?"

Woah. Definitely not expecting this. I've known him for a week, and he already was inviting me to "hang out?"

I contemplated this. Was this a bad idea? He could be a serial killer for all I knew. I took one look at his dimpled smile and knew I couldn't refuse.

"I'd love to."
