Blackness

Can Change Save?

As we drove down the almost empty road

I could notice only one thing

Change.

It was not only warm and sunny, unlike New York

It felt good, to change.

Change is good, isn't it?

I didn't even notice I had fallen asleep, until the jolt of the car woke me from my slumber. I slumped down in the seat, too tired to concentrate on my mothers babbling. My mother was a good women, she did anything she could to make me confortable. It was a across- country trip, and I wasn't surprised she was confused.

"Alyssa, take this for me and tell me where to go." She said in defat, handing me the map. I groaned and sat up, taking it into my hands and directing her which highways to turn into and where to go. As she got more confortable she told me to go back to sleep. I instantly threw the map in the front seat, and stretched myself across the backseats in a laying down position before she could change her mind. I sighed and turned on my phone. It was only 11 am and we'd left at 6. It was going to take at least a couple of days to drive there. San Diego was a very nice place to live, i would know because I'm always up there visiting my cousins, Mike and Vic. I wasn't too sad to leave the crappy school I was going to up in NY. I stopped thinking and shut my eyes, drifting into a thoughtless sleep.

When I had woken up again, It was dark outside, and we we're still driving. I sat up and adjusted my shirt before asking my mom where we were.

"Kansas!" She said excitedly

"How did we get there so quickly?!" I asked in amazement

"I was asking for directions, and this man told me a short cut, to cut the trip into a day." She responded, letting out a satisfied sigh.

I leaned back in my seat, glad that we weren't going to be stuck in the car much too longer.

And that I'd see my cousins soon.

San Diego, here I come.
