It never ends

Fast in my car

The day went by pretty fast. I only had two more classes and now is my lunch period. I purposely put at the end of my schedule.

I walked into the store and the strong smell of coffee wafted around the air. I briefly closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. Man, I love the smell of coffee. This shop’s little atmosphere and the fact that is was comfortably quiet and not quite crowded.

There wasn’t a line so i just walked right up. The cashier gave me a smile before asking me what I would like. I ordered and 2 minutes later she handed me my French vanilla which warmed my hand and my body.

I turned around and in the corner of the restaurant in the little booth I saw bright red hair, I knew it wasn’t scarlett, this place didn’t seem like her. There was only one other person I knew with hair as red and bright as hers.

It was tris, sitting next to the window talking to some girls from the volleyball team. I recognized them faintly, but don’t know their names. I guess I was standing there for a while, Tris looked up at me and motioned me to come over. I reluctantly walked over. I wasn’t in a rush for anything and that was a good feeling.

I scooted in the booth right next to a girl with boy short hair and minimal makeup. She was gorgeous, maybe I need to start wearing some makeup….I’m not gonna start wearing makeup anytime soon. Maybe I just looked good on her. In fact, all of tris’s friends were pretty.

There was a girl who had dyed the ends of her hair purple, and another with a really cute black dress with white designs all along the dress.

“Hey skyler, Watcha got there” she asked referring my drink.

“French vanilla” I said taking a sip, it was very warm but not scorching hot. Perfect.

Tris nodded.

“so” I started. “what were you talking about”

Tris looked over her friends and then back to me.

“are you going to that party tonight?” she asked ignoring my question.

“Yea, me and oliver”

“Don’t” Tris said point blank. “I know you know what happened between her and scarlett, Katherine’s pretty mad and she wants revenge.” Revenge, what does she mean by revenge, jump her? Blow the tires out of her car?

“I don’t blame her, Scarlett finally gets what’s coming to her” There it is again. What happened between the two, is it some forbidden “We-never-talk-about-it” sort of thing? I wanna know.

“Tris what happened between you two”

“Ask scarlett’ Tris said exhaling sharply “or better yet, ask oliver, sure they’d be happy to tell you”

“Why can’t you?” I was getting a bit irritated. What? You can’t trust me, is it that bad? Then tell me ,you don’t just bring it up and refuse to tell someone.

“Okay, fine” I heard my voice was a little on edge, and I knew the rest of this conversation was going to be awkward and uncomfortable.

“okaaay” I said “I have to go” I said scooting over. I faked a smiled getting up out the booth.

Tris grabbed my arm and before I could snatch it back tris spoke.

“I’m being serious, don’t go . I won’t tell you what happened but I can tell you the people you hang around aren't nice people” They’re nice enough, I thought

“Well thanks for the tip, I’ll be going” I said taking my arm back and walking out. The luxurious smell of coffee was replaced by a stinging cold pinching in my nose.

I could walk to oliver's apartment. It’s off campus, but it’s not miles and miles far. My French vanilla was still warm. I took a sip and started walking.

I got there 30 minutes tops, most of which was waiting at the stop lights. The air wasn't on in the building making it comfy warm. I saw they had put up a new painting in the back wall behind the desk. The painting didn't settle right with me, it was a muddy brown streaked across the canvas. I looked away and started for the elevator, riding it up to the 2nd floor and to oliver door. I knocked, hoping he was in there, or I don’t know what I’d do.

My thoughts were cut short when the door swung open and oliver stood in front of me with a bottle of what I’m assuming was beer. He was wearing the same clothes from earlier except for the beanie, which left his hair messy on the top. A cute messy.

His expression was surprised and confused. He pulled me inside and closed the door immediately behind me.

“What the hell! Did you walk here?”

“Yea” I replied. Oliver crossed over the kitchen counter so we were on opposite sides.

“why? You could’ve called me” I could have couldn't I.

“ yea well..” I trailed off. “what time is it”

“about 5” wow ,5 o clock already, time flies.

Oliver finished his drink and threw it in the trash can.

“Yea, we need to leave now” he said. I knew he was referring to the party he practically told me i was going to, the same one tris just warned me about.

“Why not, wouldn’t it be too early” I wasn’t some party expert but 5 o clock seems too early.

“yes, but it’s an hour away, starts at 6, dark by 7”

An hour away! That’s a long time what’s so great about this party anyway?

“an hour?! Why can’t we go to one that’s closer”

“Because I’m taking you to this one”

“yea but-” Oliver groaned loudly, putting his face in his hands.

“God! You’re really fucking stubborn you know that” he took a deep breath and looked at me. His gaze piercing.

I was a bit taken back, but ignored his words.

“fine whatever, but I’m still leaving by 11, I can’t stay up all night”

Oliver grinned. Mood swings? “okay” oliver walked around the counter to in front of me and before he could do anything I reached down to flatten out his hair. It was still a bit tangled, but you wouldn’t really notice, I don’t know if he brushed it today, or at all.

“Was that bothering you” he asked with a faint smile.

“Yes, yes it was”.Oliver shook his head before opening the front door and walking out with me following behind.

We rode in the car in silence , with the subtle sound of the radio playing music I couldn’t comprehend.

“Where exactly are we going?” I asked as oliver turned to dark road, where the only lights were from his headlights. I felt an unnerving sensation in my stomach . Oliver didn’t answer me. Ugh, why does he do that.

We rode further down and I felt the road shift from rocky to smooth.

“Oliver!” I practically shouted. He still didn’t answer. At that same time the trees disappeared and we rode unto a parking lot, filled with cars. He parked and got out. I got out and stood by the car with my arms folded.

It took a little while before he realized I wasn’t behind him. Oliver turned around and shook his head.

“Well”

“not until you tell me where we are and what we’re doing here” I was really getting tired of his “not gonna answer”. I felt weird, especially since it was Dark, and I know better.

Oliver groaned and put his hands behind his head before taking a breath and letting them drop back down.

So I totally didn't re- read this again... Although, I now see the subtle little hints for the turning point in their relationship... It's so obvious now I know about it haha (Not spoiling cause someone people might have just started this)

I honestly love this, this would have to be my favorite one out if all of the fan fiction that I have read and I would love to see you write more <3

I was surprised her mom didn't say anything bad to oliver, but I guess that's in the upcoming chapters. Awesome update!
