There's No Such Thing As Too Young

Thirty Five

*Mike's POV*

"So, did you Two have a good christmas?" Mom asked, ushering us into her living room where Vic and Dad were.

"Yeah, it was really nice, wasn't it, babe?" I asked Millie, grinning as I saw her sleeve covering the ring on her finger.

"Mm." Millie hummed, briefly hugging Vic, Mom and Dad.

We both took a seat and handed everyone their presents.

"Michael! Millie! I love this!" Mom gushed, holding up a purple jumper that I'd picked out after I'd asked Millie what would be a good present for a mature woman.

"I'm glad." I chuckled, watching Vic and Dad open their gifts.

I'd gotten them both cologne and candy.

You could never go wrong with cologne and candy.

They both grinned at us.

"Cheers, bro!" Vic exclaimed, patting me on the back.

"It's fine, dude."

Millie shifted next to me, moving closer to my side.

She was so nervous about having to tell my parents today that she hardly slept last night.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and rubbed her side.

"I'll go and get our gifts for you both." Mom said, rushing out of the room and flapping her arms.

I shook my head with a smile.

She returned with a giftbag and placed it near our feet.

"Open them!" She urged, clapping her hands.

"Erm, in a minute, we actually need to talk to you about something." I coughed, causing Millie to tense slightly.

"Oh my god, are you pregnant then?" Mom gasped, looking at Millie with her hands over her mouth.

"No, no, no. I just had a virus, I'm definately not pregnant." Millie said, shaking her head.

Mom frowned in dissapointment.

"Are you-" Mom started, but was cut off by my Dad pulling her down onto the sofa by him.

"Let them talk, Vivian."

Vic looked at us curiously from the armchair.

"I asked Millie to marry me yesterday." I blurted out.

I watched everyones jaws drop in shock.

There was a silence in the room, and everyone's eyes were on us.

Mom squealed loudly making everyone jump and snap out of their trance.

"My baby is engaged!" She shouted, bounding over to me and wrapping her arms around my head, holding it to her chest.

She squeezed me tightly.

"Mom, I can't breathe!" I wheezed, trying to squirm out of her grip.

She released me while still squealing, she moved onto Millie, enveloping her in her arms.

"What? When did you decide to do this?" Vic asked, his stare hard.

"I've been thinking about it since we were on tour, that's when I got the ring."

"I'm happy for you, Son." Dad nodded, watching Mom gush to Millie about how beautiful the ring was.

"Wait! You can't get married! She's Seventeen, Mike! Your relationship isn't even legal!" Vic shouted, his face red.

I heard Mom gasp.

I growled at Vic.

"Thanks for that, asshole! It's not even your place to tell them!"

"Michael, is this true?" Dad asked, a shameful look on his face.

"Yes, it's true, Millie's only Seventeen." I sighed, he shook his head with a sigh.

Millie was shaking next to me, her anxiety radiating off her.

I made a point to pull her close to me in an attempt to keep her calm.

"Michael, why didn't you tell us?" Mom asked, dissapointment evident in her tone.

She took a seat on the arm of the couch we were on, stroking Millie's hair as she noticed how tense she was.

"Because we didn't know how you'd react."

"I've told you that you can come to use to talk anytime, we're your parents, we're always here for you, Michael. Millie, sweetheart, please calm down." Mom cooed to her.

"I can't believe this, I knew this was a bad idea, I shouldn't have let you be together. I should have stopped it while I could, the whole band is going to fall apart now." Vic muttered, his shoulders tense as he pulled on his hair.

"Excuse me, young man. Don't you dare try and make your brother unhappy! Him and Millie are inlove, and if they weren't meant to be together, we wouldn't be having this conversation now!" Mom scolded him, sticking up for us.

My Father was sat in silence, choosing not to get involved with the complex situation.

"He could get arrested, Mom!" Vic spat, pointing a finger at me.

"They aren't flaunting their relationship, Victor! I know for a fact they've been keeping it on the down low! Even you have been helping them! They're being sensible!"

"Ask him how old Millie was when they first started dating." Vic demanded.

"Excuse me, cut the attitude."

"Ask him." Vic demanded for the second time.

"Fine. Michael, how old was Millie when you started going out?" Mom asked reluctantly.

"Sixteen." I murmered, avoiding her stare.

"Michael." She tutted and Vic scoffed.

I looked up angrily.

"I don't know what the hell your problem is! Millie and I are happy, we're engaged! I'm inlove with her and nothing you can say or do is going to change that! You told me yourself that you were happy for us, why have you suddenly changed your mind?" I yelled, absolutely livid.

Millie was quiet next to me, and I knew that my raised voice was scaring her.

"Because I don't want to see you hurt again! I saw what you were like after you broke up with Frenchi! You were lifeless, Mike! I can see you love Millie, but what happens if you both decide to end things? You're going to end up killing yourself!"

"Victor!" Mom gasped, absolutely horrified at his words.

"I'm a grown man, I can make my own decisions!" I bellowed, standing up.

"Stop it, both of you! You're upsetting Millie and you're causing a scene! Act like adults and talk properly! Your Dad and I will be with Millie in the kitchen, come through when you decide to act your age!" Mom snapped, pulling a tearful Millie up and taking her through to the kitchen.

"Sort this out." Dad spoke up, following them.

Vic and I were left alone.

"I'm sorry, I just don't want to see you in such a mess again." Vic mumbled, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I'm not going to end up like that again, Vic. Millie isn't like Frenchi, hell, I'm not the same person as I was when Frenchi and I were together."

"I'm sorry for blowing up on you, I'm happy for you both."

"So, are you gonna be my best man or not?" I grinned, his eyes lit up.

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, you're my brother." I laughed, he came over and gave me a hug.

We embraced eachother for too long before we pulled away, coughing awkwardly.

"I'm, er, going to check on Millie." I muttered, rubbing my neck and exiting the room with Vic following.

When I entered the kitchen I saw that Millie had her face in her hands and was hunched over the table with Mom rubbing her back, while my Dad was leaning against the kitchen counter.

I immediately rushed to Millie, leaning over her and pulling her to my chest.

She clutched onto me for dear life and Mom removed herself from the table, standing next to her husband.

I managed to manuever myself around Millie and into the vacant chair with her still in my arms.

Vic bit his lip as he saw how Millie was reacting, he felt guilty for making her cry when he knew what she was going through at school and the troubles she was having with self harm.

He crouched down beside her and patted her knee.

Millie turned her head slightly and looked at him in question.

"I didn't mean to make you cry, Mills. I'm happy for you and Mike, I really am. I was just shocked, I never thought my brother would settle down and get engaged." Vic chuckled, Millie nodded back with a small smile, wiping her eyes with the tissue in her hand.

"It's okay." She spoke softly, poking his hand that was still resting on her knee.

"Come here, I hate seeing my future Sister-in-Law cry." He said, holding his arms out.

She pulled away from me and hugged him, he squeezed her and made her giggle.

"Aw." Mom cooed, looking at them with her hands over her heart.

My Dad laughed and shook his head at us.

"So, got anything else to tell us?" He asked, clearing his throat.

Millie bit her lip and scooted back to me, I wrapped my arms around her shoulders from behind and kissed the back of her head.

"Yeah, I'm moving out." I spoke, directing the sentence towards Vic.

He gasped dramatically and shot up, his hands on his hips.

"My little brother is deserting me for his Fiancé? How could you!"

We all laughed at his silly behaviour.

"So, that's it, right? No more suprises?" Mom asked us, eyeing me suspiciously.

"We got a dog too." I shrugged.

She rolled her eyes and advanced on us, kissing Millie's forehead and smacking upside the head.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"For keeping secrets from us!" She exclaimed, sitting opposite us with Dad.

Vic pouted at the full seats before shrugging and sitting on Mom's lap, wrapping an arm around her neck.

"I'm never too old for a cuddle am I, Mommy?" He pouted, resting his head on hers.

"Of course not."

"I always knew he was the favourite kid." I grumbled, Millie chuckled and leaned into me, lacing our fingers together.

"I love you both equally." Mom defended, rolling her eyes.

"But you love me a little more, isn't that right, Mom?" Vic asked.

"Shush, child."

"I'm not a child, Mom. I'm a grown man, I'm Twenty Eight years old." Vic grumbled, huffing.

"If that's so, why are you sat on my lap?" Mom asked.

We all burst out laughing at her words.

*Millie's POV*

After Mike and I had gotten back from his parents house, we decided to crash in bed for awhile, to relax and spend some time together after the events that had taken place today.

"How are you feeling?" He wondered, pushing my hair behind my ears.

I was lay on his stomach, with my legs between his and my head tucked under his chin.

"I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders." I replied, bringing the covers over us more as I was feeling chilly.

"Me too." He agreed, drumming out a beat on my lower back.

He actually did this alot without noticing, I think it's because he's constantly using his hands when he's drumming.

"I wonder if your fans are going to be chill about it..."

"We'll tell them in a few days, we'll post a picture of your ring or something, or I could announce it on the internet."

"I bet they're going to go crazy, they haven't even seen what I look like yet." I chuckled, thinking about our complicated situation.

Mike hummed in agreement.

We lay in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before I felt Mike shake beneath me.

I looked up to see him giggling.

"What are you laughing at?" I asked, slightly worried and paranoid.

"I was just thinking about how you called me cocky when we met for the second time and how you rejected me, now look at us." He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Well, you did stalk me."

"I did not stalk you! Honestly! The only time I did 'stalk' you, was when I turned up at your school." He informed me, spanking my bum playfully.

"Why did you come to my school? Apart from asking me to come to your show.." I wondered, resting my chin on his chest.

"Because I couldn't stop thinking about you." He murmered, brushing his crooked fingers over my forehead and nose.

My eyes fluttered at the nice sensation.

"I didn't think I'd ever end up being engaged to a drummer who stalks teenage girls."

"Right, that's it!" Mike playfully growled, rolling us over swiftly and climbing between my legs as he leant over me.

I giggled at him as he playfully nipped my nose before pecking my lips.

My arms wrapped loosely around his neck.

"I can't wait to marry the fuck out of you." He whispered against my lips.

"Same here, Mikey." I replied, nipping his bottom lip.

Mike snuggled into me, hiding his face in my neck and playing with my fingers as we dozed off into a light sleep before dinner.
