The Monster That Is Me

Austin:





Rays shined through my cracked blinds hinting it was morning. I called a meeting for the whole clan, excluding my mom and dad. We were meeting in my room at sunrise. Funny how the clan leaders aren’t at the clan meeting, but I couldn’t risk my parents knowing. Who knows what they would do, especially to Eliza.

“Why did we call this meeting?” Tino grumbled walking into the room. “You know I hate waking up this early.” He rolled his eyes before looking at me. “The perks of being a pure blood.” He looked down noticing Eliza’s head was in my lap. His eyes went big and he gasped “The hell is she doing here?”

My gaze meet Tino’s “It’s kind of a long story.” Knowing I’d read his thoughts he glared at me “Care to explain Carlile.” I sighed shaking my head before saying out loud “Later, when everybody gets here.”

“What’s kind of a long story?” The ginger asked skipping into the room. I would have joked about him looking like a princess but now is not the time. He saw the beautiful girl in my arms and frowned. “Oh my fuckery.”

Well, now everyone’s here and confused as ever. Well, almost every one, Aaron is still MIA. “Aaron Pauley!” I screamed in my thoughts. “If you don’t get you’re hybrid ass at this meeting I’m going to rip your private parts out.”

“Keep an eye on Aaron when he gets here.” I told the others earning a nod “I don’t know how he’ll react to her.”

Truthfully, I’m a little afraid of Aaron for Eliza’s sake. He’s new to the Manalti Clan. Before he was with us he was in Jamie’s Minions, a clan of pure breed vampires who loved to hunting dhamphirs. I’m hoping that he could control himself around her, though I know it’s going to be hard.

I could here Aaron’s feet dragging down the hall way “What is it? Why is there a meeting and why should I care?” Finally, he sulked into the room. Glancing up he noticed Eliza and his eyes flashed red. “W-what is s-she doing h-here?” He questioned taking a step backwards.

“That’s what he called the meeting about.” Phil replied before turning to me “Everyone’s here now……so get to explaining.”

I took a long heavy sigh “Well last night I went out to hunt. I got a girl and well took her to the forest to feed. I had almost drained my meal completely when I felt another presence. It happened to be this chick...” I motioned to the girl in my arms “ I sniffed her out and walked over to her. I was originally planning on killing her because I knew she saw me feeding.”

I closed my eyes as a flashback took over my brain





~Austin’s Flashback~

“What are you doing here?” I growled lowly. I was pissed at this girl. I already didn’t want to kill Hailey. And now it looks like I’ll have to kill her to. I couldn’t risk her leaving and blowing my cover.

The girl sounded scared stuttering out “I….I-I was j-just going f-for a w-walk.”

“In these woods.” I asked her. What the fuck is this girls problem? Why would a dhamphir go walking in the woods that dhamphir eaters live in? Did she even know about these woods? “Haven’t you heard about what happens in these woods?”

“I have.” She seemed to calm down lightly. Not as afraid as before just…curious. “I just never…..believed in the legend.”

I leaned against the tree beside me “Until now.”

“Uh-huh.” She whispered kicking at a pine cone on the ground

I stared at her curiously. I couldn’t exactly make out her face. I really wanted to know what her face looked like but sadly I just couldn’t. It looked somewhat like a blur. That’s the one thing about a dhamphir. In the pitch dark, no matter how dilated your eyes are. You won’t be able to make out there facial features. I guess that’s a perk of being a dhamphir

“That’s not smart of you.” I chuckled lightly causing the tree supporting me to shake “You know you’re kind are actually very delightful.” I wiped the blood oozing out her cut on my index finger before sticking it in my mouth. Her blood was delicious. So sweet, so like candy for humans. I could feel myself caving in, the predator was about to come out. “The creatures in these woods would love to have a bite of you.”

The creatures in the woods included me. I took a step towards her and was ready to drain her of the sweet substance, ultimately her life. The night was cloudy, but they faltered just long enough for me to see her face completely. And when I did, I felt like time stood still.

Standing before me was probably the most beautiful creature that I’ve ever laid eyes on. I felt like my soul was being pulled towards her, towards Eliza. That’s her name. She didn’t have to tell me so, I just knew. I felt completely drawn to her and my body felt like it was on fire. The thought to kill her vanished completely. Instead, it was replaced with the need to protect her. To give her any and everything that she wanted.

“Okay, well I’ll just be on my way then.” She stated walking around me

If she really wanted to go then I would let her. But as she walked away from me I felt pain. My whole body felt pained. My heart felt like it was going to explode. The muscles in my arms felt weak. I felt….incomplete.

“Okay.” I replied and soon a howl rippled through the air. A howl that I had grown to know so well, Andy Biersack. I galloped over to Eliza and grabbed “You’re coming with me.





~End Flashback~



“Aaron left?” I questioned eyes still closed. I didn’t need to look to know his presence was missing.

“Yeah.” Phil stated beside me “He couldn’t handle being in the room with her. He left half way through your story.” I felt his hand pat my back “Austin, why did you take her?”

I gazed down at her “I just couldn’t leave her.” I caressed her soft cheek “The Fallen Angels would have drained her dry.”

“Why do you care if they would have drained her? Why does it matter?” Tino asked sucking on a bloodpop “What’s it to you?”

“Because.” I growled lowly anger boiling inside me. Everyone looked at me in shock. I sighed dropping my gaze back down. “Because…..I couldn’t see her hurt. I wanted to protect her. I wanted her to be safe. I wanted her with me.” I thought back to last night. The pain I felt when she was walking away. Like a piece of me was…leaving. I closed my eyes. “What is wrong with me?”

Everyone was silent for a while. I guess nobody had an answer. Looking down at the sleeping arms I realized that if I didn’t have an answer for my own questions how in the hell would they.

“Nothings wrong with you Austin.” I looked up and Phil was starring at me knowingly “Well something is wrong with you, but not the kind of wrong you’re thinking.” I furrowed my eyebrows at him. He chuckled before stating “Isn’t it obvious. You just……imprinted.”

“What?” I chuckled “That’s absurd. For goodness sakes she’s a dhamphir. And she’s Bathorian.” I shook my head “I’m sure that’s not the feeling I have for Eliza.”

“Nobodies immune Austin.” Phil stated “No race, ethnicity…”

“Gender.” Tino interrupted causing Phil to smile

“No gender either.” He glanced at Tino before turning back to me “You feel pulled to the person. Almost like they themselves are gravity.”

Tino shook his head gazing down at the ground “You’re body heats up to a temperature that’s like being on the sun.” He pauses for a second “But it’s a good feeling.”

“Nobody else seems to matter. Nothing in the world matters but him….well them.” Phil shakes his head “And no matter how goofy….or stupid that person may be. No matter how much he gets on your nerves. You feel the need to protect…”

“Please.” Tino added interrupting him yet again

“And love them forever. You’re unconditionally bound to them for the rest of your life.” Phil finished he statement

I looked at them in awe “Sounds like you guys know the feeling.”

Phil glanced at Tino who smirked back at him. He looked down trying to hide his smile “Sadly, I do, I know the exact feeling.”

“So…..” I said glancing between the two. “What does this mean? For me.” I looked at Eliza, I’ve been looking at her a lot. “How do I know if she….loves me back.”

Phil stood up and walked over to stand beside Tino “You don’t know exactly.” He rested his head on Tino’s shoulder “You can always find out though.”

“Hey!” They started towards the door. Both stopped and turned around “Does she like me?”

“There’s only one way to find out.” Tino stated with a smile. Phil’s mirrored his. I gave them a confused look. They rolled there eyes at me before yelling in union “Wake her up dumbass.”

They opened the door giving me good luck wishes. I glanced up thanking them and I swore I saw there hands intertwined. No, they weren’t holding hands, were they. I shook that thought out of my mind focusing on the unconscious girl in front of me. Now, to wake her back up.

I bent down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips whispering “You can wake up now beautiful.”

Her eyes started to flutter open. I looked into them, afraid they would look back at me in horror. But actually I got the polar opposite, she smiled at me. “Are…are you okay?”

“Yeah.” She whispered looking around “Just, I’m just….”

“Scared…..are you scared of me?” I squeaked lowly. I really don’t want her to be scared

“No.” She flashed me a smile and I swore I felt my heart flipped “I feel like I should be scared especially because of what I’ve heard about you. But, for some odd reason, I’m not.” I couldn’t help but sigh in relief. “But….I’m hungry. Like I’m freaking starving.”

A chuckle escaped my mouth “How does Pancakes with blue jay blood, scrambled eggs with squirrel meat and cranblood juice sound?”

“That’s weird.” She whispered biting her lip

“What’s weird?” I asked. “Do you not want to eat that? I can cook something else? If you…”

“No! Not that kind of weird.” She laughed a little at my uneasiness “That’s actually my favorite breakfast meal.”

“Me too Eliza.” I smiled, grabbing her soft hand and tugging her off the bed “Me too.”

So.....Austin imprints on Eliza. He wakes her up, and she seems to be perfectly fine that she was kidnapped by Austin. (I don't blame her, I would be too.)
