A Love Like War

Tear This Place Apart Until You Find Me Hiding

I slowly turned down an unfamiliar street, keeping my head down and my hands in my pockets. The sounds of masculine and cruel laughter filled my ears.

"Aw, come on baby, lets have a little fun." A voice shouted.
Soon after, I heard the screams of a girl. I bolted in the direction of the voices. down a dimly lit alley.
I balled my fists and clenched my jaw at the sight. A tiny girl with green hair and angel bites was forced to her knees as on of the three men took his member in his hand and smacked her face with it.

"Please, stop." She sobbed. I'm usually not an aggressive person however, I was the girl's only hope.
I drew my arm back swinging at whoever I could, seeing as I was out numbered.

I heard the girl cry out in pain and everything went black.

The next thing I remember was sitting at the edge of the mystery girl's bed.

"She might not make it." The doctor stated quietly. "I'm sorry sir."
"But she was fine twenty minutes ago, she was talking and I just-" I was interrupted by an incoming text.

Vic.

*Where are you? We gotta go.*

Knowing that I couldn't handle her dying, I sighed and left without thinking twice.

"Where have you been?" Vic questioned as I stepped onto the bus and beelined for the bathroom.
"Don't want to talk about it right now." He pressed his lips together.
"Tony, I-"
"Please." I said quietly as I shut the bathroom door.
I slid onto the cold floor and grabbed my sharpest blade.

I failed her. She will die because I wasn't paying attention. If only I had paid more attention to getting her away she'd be okay.

I pushed my sleeve up and littered my arm with bright, fresh cuts.

"I'm so sorry." I chocked out between silent sobs.
