Remembering Sunday

"Okay, I think that's the last box." I said as I set a cardboard box onto another. "Thanks for your help by the way."

My mom, Heather, looked at me lovingly for a second before engulfing me in yet another hug. "Oh honey, I'm gonna miss you so much. You have to come down to visit for the holidays, even the small ones. You have to come home for Halloween!"

I wrapped my arms around her tiny frame and gave a small squeeze. "I'll try to but you know it's only a few hour flight from Florida. You can come down here sometimes too." We both knew we wouldn't be visiting each other often, but no harm in believing the other would give it a shot.

"Okay, okay. Enough with the heavy, what'd'ya say we go get some food. I'm starving after moving all of those boxes." She said as I glanced back to the brown cardboard mess covering my new house. It was a nice two story with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. I was bound to make friends and develop a relationship over here so why not be prepared now.

"Alright, what do you feel like eating? I was kinda thinking fast food. How about you?" I turned back to my mother who was trying to find her purse in this cluster of cardboard. "Don't worry about paying, I got it."

"How about some McDonald's? Sound good?" I nodded my head. "Oh and don't forget to feed Rosco." I food some kibble in the doggy bowl and soon enough we were on our way out the door and in my little silver Chevy Cruze.

Later that day, my mom had to go back home in Florida and I drove her to the airport.

"Call me when you land alright? I'll try to answer if I'm not sleeping. Just leave a message if I don't pick up." I said to her when she hugged me one last time before boarding the plane. When I got home though, I went straight to sleep. All of my energy was lost and despite my insomnia, I stayed asleep throughout the night. I'll deal with the rest of unpacking tomorrow.

Hey! First chapter's done. I really suck at sticking with writing and updating but I'll try really hard with this one cause I have the whole thing planned out in my head and soon to be on paper.
