Dad?

I woke up the next morning around noon. The house was still so uncomfortably quiet, I got up and walked down stairs to see a note on the counter.

Dani,
Had to go in early to the studio today, not sure how long I'll be gone. Here's $100 if you need anything or if I'm not back in time for dinner.
Love dad.

I sighed and grabbed the money. I had about 3 hours before I had to try out, so I made myself breakfast and went back upstairs to pick what i'd wear today.

It took me awhile, but I finally decided on a pair of black athletic shorts and my light blue tank top along with my black vans....

I stuck my cleats and wallet in my bag along with my keys and phone, before grabbing a water and walking to the park.

Once I arrived at the park, Amber immediately spotted me and ran over.

"Ahhhhh I'm so happy you showed up. Okay so change into your cleats and we'll go talk to coach." She smiled and sat next to me.

I quickly changed and we jogged over to the coach.

"Hey coach this is the girl I was talking about." She said

The coach looked at me. "I'm Coach Owens, and you are?"

"Daniella Preciado."

"How long have you been playing?" She asked

"Since I was five, so 10 years"

"Goal Keeper?"

"I'm alright, but my old coaches kept me playing different positions." She nodded

"Alright, I'll see how you play and if you're good, you're on the team." She said and blew her whistle.

We ran a few drills to work on passing and shooting before she called us over.

She divided us into two teams, Amber and I thankfully on the same one.

As soon as the whistle blew I felt every worry and thought slip away. The only thing that mattered was my team getting and keeping control of the ball.

After a while of fighting for the ball and sliding on the ground, our team won.

"That was great and I can tell that everyone, even the coach loves you. You totally made the team" Amber smiled grabbing my shoulders.

"You think so?"

"Hell yeah."

I walked over to my bag and got my water out.

"Preciado!" Coach yelled.

"Yes ma’am?" I said jogging over there.

"I've been a coach for a long time, seen a lot of players, and you are by far are one of the best. So congratulations you made the team." She smiled and handed me some papers. "Get your parents to fill this out and bring it back on Tuesday during practice."

"Thank you so much, this means the world to me." I said and ran back to my stuff. I shoved the papers in my bag and turned around to see Amber running towards me.

"I told you you'd make the team. Now we need to hang out sometime before the next practice." She smiled. I agreed and we exchanged numbers and Chris came and picked her up before I began my walk home.

I was so happy I made the team and couldn't wait to share the news with my dad. I ran through the door of our house only to be met with complete silence once again.

“Dad?” I yelled. When I got no reply, I sighed and locked the door before getting out the papers and sitting down at the kitchen table.

I turned on my music and began filling out what I could on the papers. Before I knew it, I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell into a deep sleep.

Jaime's POV

I walked into the house around midnight and heard music playing. I followed the sound to find Dani asleep at the kitchen table with a pile of papers next to her.

I turned off the music before picking up the stack of papers and reading them.

I'm proud to inform you that your child has made the soccer team and will be joining us in our journey to the championships.......

I looked at Dani and smiled. Her mom would be proud. I sat down the papers and carried Dani up to her room, before coming back downstairs and filling out what she hadn't.

We need to celebrate. I quickly called Tony, thankful he was still awake and told him my plans. We were originally planning a party when she first arrived, but due to certain situations we decided to postpone it. I decided that we could have the party tomorrow and we could go out to dinner while it was set up.

Before going to bed I invited all our friends and family.
