A Castle By the Sea

Walmart Escapade

I blinked a bit, trying adjust to the sunlight that was peeking out of the windows. Groaning, I sat up and looked over at the bed that was across from mine and noticed the lump that was under the blankets. I rubbed my eyes, trying to push away sleep.
“Mornin,” A voiced yawned.

Jumping, I turned back the bed and looked at Michelle, who was laying in her bed. I waved slightly, giving her a tired smile as she rubbed her eyes like I had moments ago. Her hair was sticking in a bunch of directions and her shirts was pulled up over her stomach. From this direction it looked like her pants were pulled off and thrown on the floor.

“Morning, sunshine,” I teased, stretching my arms.

“I was thinking that we could shopping,” Michelle shrugged, looking around. “For our room.”

“Good idea,” I smiled and stood up. “Let me get changed...”

“Me too,” She nodded, crawling out of her blankets.

Quickly, I grabbed a random shirt and pair of jeans. Michelle was turned so her back was facing me and started getting dressed. Shrugging, I turned so that I mimicked her stance and started slipping off my shirt and changing into a new one. I wore a plain, gray shirt and a light pair of skinnies. I grabbed my sunglasses and then slipped on my all black vans. I turned back to Michelle and smiled. She wore a simple purple sundress with black flats.

“Getting a little dressed up, I see,” I giggled, throwing my hair up into a loose pony.

“Only for you,” She joked, snickering slightly.

“Let's get this shirt started!” I cheered, grabbing my phone.

We took out school IDS and keys to the room before leaving. Michelle locked the door and then linked
her arm with mine, pulling me down the hall.

“My friend said that there was a Walmart in walking distance,” She announced.

“Alrightly,” I smiled, putting on my sunglasses.

“Have you met anyone?” She asked as we started walking to the main entrance of campus.

“Um, just Dylan,” I shrugged. “I haven't really made any friends.”

“You'll have to meet mine then!” Michelle gasped. “They'll love you!”

I toyed with my lips, looking ahead of us as we walked. I didn't know if I should go and meet her
friends or not. They might not like me, what if they hated me? I really liked Michelle, but I have no idea if I should go or not.

“I promise,” She insisted.

“Maybe later,” I reasoned.

“Yes!” She cheered.

The walk to Walmart was fairly short, maybe ten minutes. We walked in silence, mostly likely because I was a little nervous. Michelle called her friends, and said that they were all going to the beach later. Michelle is dragging me along, and I didn't have a say in it. Once we were inside the fairly sized store, she started pulling me towards the lane that held a bunch of mirrors and started looking at a couple of long ones.

“Two girls in one room, we're going to need one,” She replied.

“Well, I don't have a bunch of spending money,” I replied sheepishly, scratching the back of my neck.

“Don't worry about it,” She waved me off, looking at a long mirror.

“No, Miche-”

“Hush, my parents gave me enough to pay for an entire apartment complex,” Michelle smiled, bumping hips with me.

“I'm not letting you do this,” I sighed. “I need a job.”

“I'm getting stuff we both need,” She replied, poking my nose. “And I'm paying.”

“Can I try and help?” I squeaked, not wanting her to pay for a bunch of things that I was going to use.

“Is that the only way I'm going to be able get stuff?”

“Pretty much,” I sighed, rubbing my forehead.

“My friends are going to the beach and I'm dragging you along,” Michelle announced, looking down at her phone.

“No,” I groaned, covering my face. “I don't even own a bathing suit.”

“I'll let you borrow one...Make my guy friends drool over you,” She teases.

“Stop!” I replied blushing, embarrassed.

“Please?”

“Okay, I'll go,” I sighed, scratching the back of my neck.

Michelle cheered and then ran around the store, grabbing things that we would need for our room. Smiling proudly at the things in our cart (That I had to run and get in the middle of our shopping spree,) we waited in line for a few minutes and then the lady at the cash register quickly checked us out and told us how much we owed. Proudly, I got to pay for a little under a half of the things even though Michelle protested.

“I get to dress you for today then,” Michelle pouted as we started walking towards the campus.

“Fine,” I groaned, earning a squeal from the girl beside me.

“Oh, and I'm doing your make up,” She announced, running into a full dash once the school was in view.

“Michelle!” I laughed, chasing after her.

Our Walmart bags swung side to side as she sprinted ahead of me and I followed. Giggling, I chased her all the way to our room, where she collapsed on my bed right after she unlocked our door. Pouting, I sat down on her bed and placed the bags on her floor. Michelle smirked at me and headed towards her closet.

“Alrighty girl, let's get started!”
