Time-Bomb-

Chapter 1

I swear I must have gone two full circles around the school perimeter before I found my class. I hurried in as soon as the bell rang and took the last seat available in between a scary looking boy and a nerdy looking ginger. I silently tried to catch my breath from running through the hallways.

"Let me guess. Freshman?" The boy on my left questioned from beside me.
"Is it that obvious?" I pouted.
"Yeah," He laughed.
"I'm Matt, by the way," he held out his hand to me.
"Kellin," I smiled and gave his hand a firm shake.
"So what's a freshman like you doing in a senior math class?" Matt asked while pushing up on his glasses.
"I came from a tough ass boarding school," I chuckled. I'm so fucking glad I'm out of there.
"Uh, what grade are you in?" I asked, he looked way too young to be a senior.
"Oh, I'm a sophomore," he smiled.
"Well, why are you in a senior class?" I teased.
"Because I'm a nerd," he smirked.
I laughed a little and turned my attention towards the teacher.
"I take it you all know how attendance works," The teacher spoke.
She went through each name on the roster and I zoned out, figuring I'd just listen up for my name.
"Victor Fuentes," she called a little louder.
"Alright, guess he's absent."
"Wait I'm here!" A boy called while just making it through the door and scanning the room for a place to sit. He looked at me with sorry eyes. Why? I had no idea.
"Get out of his seat, kid." The boy who was sitting the the right of me said in a threatening tone.
"There aren't assigned seats," I sassed back.
"Vic," the boy complained.
"It's cool," he spoke. From that minute I decided he was an annoyance, I just got that vibe from him. "I think you're short one desk," he directed toward the teacher.
"Oh, I suppose I am!" The teacher seemed surprised. She rolled one of the chairs from her desk over to who I'm assuming was Vic Fuentes. "Take a seat where you'd like," she smiled.
Vic pulled his seat in between me and the tough looking guy.
Matt and I rolled our eyes at the whole situation.
"Kellin Quinn," the teacher called.
"Present," I replied.
I heard a few random students snicker at my response. I looked around, ready to glare at anyone willing to make fun of me.
"I appreciate your formal tone," the teacher smiled at me.
"I thought I was a nerd," Matt joked at me.
"Alright! So, Partners! Tomorrow I'll have a seating arrangement assigned but for now partner up with the person next to you. You'll be receiving a small review on Algebra two to jog your memory."
The teacher passed her worksheet out to each student and stopped once she reached me.
"I can tell I'm going to really enjoy your presence this year, Kellin. It's not very often we get a freshman in Calculus."
"Thanks," I said mostly surprised. I guess I've become the teacher's pet.
She grinned big and walked down the next row of desks.
"Alright. Do you remember how to find the dimensions of a matrix?" Matt asked.
"Of course I do," I bragged cockily.

Fast forward to fifth period, the class was just about to end and I was starting to wonder what I'd do during lunch. A few people offered for me to stay with them but I had to decline their offers. I was a pretty likable person. I managed to make at least one friend in each of my classes so far. Most of them were upperclassmen, but that's only because I took such advanced classes for my age.
The bell finally rang, signaling lunch time and I drifted out of my history classroom and tried to find the nearest bathroom.

"Would you just fucking listen to me?" I heard a familiar voice yell while walking in to the bathroom.
I quickly found my way inside of a stall so I could secretly listen to the conversation. It was always nice to catch a little drama now and then.
"Well, you can't just keep invading people's personal lives and try to become their hero, Vic. That's not how life works. People are supposed to f-"
I heard a hand slap over the person talking's mouth.
"We'll talk about this later," Vic said.
"Alright, I'm gonna go get some lunch," said the other voice. I'm assuming it was Mike.

I flushed the toilet. Hey, I had to sell it, I didn't want to get caught for eavesdropping. I walked out to wash my hands and from the corner of my eye, I saw Vic leaning against the wall watching me. On my way out I shot him a little glance to see if he was still staring.
"Hi, Kellin," he waved.
"Uh, sorry, do I know you?" I asked. I obviously knew him, but I didn't want to make it look like I've been paying any attention to him. Not that it mattered.
"Oh, sorry. I'm Vic. I'm in your calculus class," he informed me.
"Oh. Hey," I smiled.
"Do you need someone to hang out with during lunch? My friends and I are totally down to welcome new people."
I decided against it again. I wasn't much of a people person, besides, something about Vic really did annoy me.
"Uh, hah, no thanks I actually have some homework I want to get done," I lied. I really had no intentions on doing homework until I got home. But any excuse worked for me, I just wanted to get some food.
"I'm not taking no for an answer," Vic said persistently.
I opened my mouth to speak but he gasped.
"N-never mind! Uh, I'll see you around," he left rather quickly, like he was trying to get away from me as soon as possible. What a weird kid.

I sighed and walked out of the bathroom. I bought myself some random pasta and made my way in the direction of my next class. I found out the room numbers coordinated with the area the classrooms were in. That information would've been helpful this morning. I took a seat on the floor besides the door of my next class, which was also the last class of the day. I had nibbles at my pasta but it was gross anyway, I just tossed it. I took mental note to make my own lunches instead of buying food.
"Hey," a boy called from in front of me.
I looked up and realized it was that other guy from my math class. Mike, I think.
"Hi?" I questioned.
"You wouldn't happen to know where Vic went, would you?" He asked. He seemed a lot more polite now.
"Uh, no, sorry."
"Alright, thanks anyway. Hey do you mind if I sit with you?"
"I guess not," I said bluntly. I kind of did mind.
"Sweet," he grinned.
"I'm Mike, Vic is my brother. He's a freak," Mike said.
"Why do you say that," I chuckled, only because I agreed with him.
"Oh you'll find out eventually," Mike hinted.

I had not interest in spending time with him, but I had to endure it, maybe get some gossip out of him. We spent the remainder of lunch just talking about school. I found out he was a junior and that he really hated school. Like, a lot. He told me about all of the teachers he hated, and how many times he got in trouble with them. It was pretty entertaining, to say the least. After a while, though, the bell rang and I told him I wanted to get to class early. I waited for him to leave and then walked right in to my classroom. I sat there for a while watching the new faces cloud in and take seats at random. Then Vic came in a smirked at me. He pulled up a chair from next to me and gave a nudge.
"What's up?" he asked.
"Uh, I don't know. Your brother was looking for you at lunch."
"Oh, so you met Mike," a devious, yet friendly smile grew across his face. I didn't even know that kind of expression existed.
"Yeah."
I guess he caught on that I wasn't really interested in talking to him at the moment. Not that I didn't like him. It's just that I'd rather not like him. Did that make sense? Who cares. I spent the rest of the period working on the first assignment our teacher gave us.

After school I just went straight home and locked myself in my room, ready to tackle my first late night of many more to come.
