Let's go!

I was surprised by how easy it's been to get people to come to me. All it took was a tweet on my account, Dad's and the official Pierce The Veil twitter. The first day was tiring. It turns out someone had started a rumour that the entire band would be there to watch people try out. I have never told so many people to fuck off before in my life.
It wasn't until I was about to leave that someone good actually stumbled in. I was sitting on one of the couches with my feet up reading a magazine. Without even looking up I said, "I'm looking for a drummer, guitarist or a bass player. If you are none of the above kindly piss off,"
"Is Rhythm Guitar any good?" someone asked. I looked up and saw a guy standing in front of me. He had dark hair, green blue eyes, black plugs in his ears and broad shoulders. In between his fingers he was holding a cigarette.
"Can you actually play or are you just looking for an autograph?"
"I can play," he laughed. He went to the sink on the opposite side of the room and threw his cigarette in there. He turned to me and smiled. "Fay," he introduced himself and held his hand out.
"Strange name,"
"So is Effy," he grinned.
"Are you any good?"
"Well, I can play. And I think I can play well,"
"Cocky too," I mocked.
"Can't help myself,"
"Don't think I mentioned in my tweet. But the band is based in San Diego. You'd have to move out," I explained.
"A chance to get out of this godforsaken place. . . I'd sleep on the street if I had to,"
"Great," I smiled. "So it's just guitar you play?"
"It's Rhythm," he corrected. "And I can do back up vocals and scream as well,"
"Well, I do vocals. So that fits well," I nodded.
"Is it okay if I go to the bathroom before I play?" he asked.
"Sure, just down the hall," I said. I watched him walk out and got out my phone. I scrolled down to Tony's number and phoned him.
"Hello?" Tony asked after a few rings.
"Hey, I have a question," I said.
"I'm kind of busy, Effy,"
"But this is important," I whined. "Life or death,"
"Go on," he sighed.
"What's the difference between guitar and Rhythm?"
"Well, one of them-"
"Keep it simple. You know I can't play,"
"I play guitar. Vic plays the other one,"
"Oh, got you," I nodded.
"Why?"
"No reason . . ." I trailed away.
"You're seeing people, aren't you," he sighed.
"Maybe,"
"Effy, you can't make people move to SD,"
"I'm not making him!" I exclaimed. "He wants to,"
"I think you should talk to Vic,"
"I will. Bye," I rushed.
"Effy-" he tried but I hung up on him. I put my phone down just as Fay walked back in.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yeah," Fay nodded. "I'll play something for you,"
"Okay, after I want to sing with you to see how we mesh," I explained. I gestured to the instruments I had 'borrowed' from Pierce The Veil's support band. Fay picked up a guitar and started messing with it. Then he started to play. I watched the way he strummed and placed his fingers on the frets. I can't play guitar myself but I know when someone is good.
He stopped playing and looked at me expectingly. He doesn't seem so cocky now. He looks anxious. I nodded to myself before I smiled. "I don't actually do covers. I have my own lyrics and music,"
"If you have some I could play it for you," he offered.
"You'd be able to do that?" I asked.
"Oh yeah," Fay smiled. I handed him a sheet. He read through and nodded to himself. "What's the pattern?"
"Down, up, up, down," I explained.
"And this bit is where I come in,"
"I underlined the screams,"
"Shall we?" he urged.
"Let's go for it," I agreed. Fay started playing, looking at the sheet. I saw his face scrunched up in concentration. He messed up a few times before he nodded for me to come in. I started singing. We could both hear my voice echoing around the room. Fay was smiling to himself. He started singing back up and I nodded. He was good. Perhaps not good enough to do lead vocals, but he was good. He screamed and I bobbed my head. His screams are so clear, you could understand every word.
"What do you think?" Fay finally asked when we'd finished.
"I think you're good," I told him.
"Good enough, you know?"
"Yeah, I really want to work with you,"
"Really?" he exclaimed and I nodded. "You're joking!" he asked.
"Nope," I shook my head.
"Shit, so what do we do?"
"I'm on tour with Pierce The Veil right now. I'm looking for some more people,"
"So it's just you and me?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "So how about you get sorted, get some money together and then I pick you up on my way home? I can get you an apartment in San Diego. You just need money,"
"That's awesome. Shall I give you my number?" he asked excitedly.
"Go on," I urged. I have him my phone and he put in his number. "I'll call you," I promised.
"Yeah," he grinned and ruffled his hair. He pulled me to him and hurried to kiss my cheek before he turned and ran out of the room.
I did it. I found someone. I really feel like I've accomplished something. I only got three more people to find. It actually seems possible now.

Notes

Hey! It's been a while. I wrote this and was convinced if uploaded it. But my iPad ate it so I had to write it again! I'm sorry! But I'm back! I'll try to update again before Chistmas. Tell me what you think? Did you like it? Do you like Fay? Do you think Effy will find everyone else? And how will Vic react? :)

@Unicat
Wow thank you so much! That's a huge complement for me. I'm so happy you enjoy my writing. One of the reasons I write is to make people smile!

I dont want to say what happens and spoil it but there are definitely no plans for Effy to get pregnant. She's been through all of that once already. Effy is facing other things. I think a court case would kill me too! :p I have something all planned out in my head that will be in the next story that I just can't wait to write. Vic will have to face a lot of home truths involving Effy in the next story. There is a lot that she's hidden from him this last year. Effy and Fay's relationship is something really unique. I don't want to say where it'll go because I don't even know. Fay is very close to Effy, that's all I'll say!

Thank you so much! New story coming up soon! :)

OMG! I love this story, you are such a great writer!!!!!
In terms of the story; I hope Effy doesn't get pregnant and stuff, and that the guy doesn't lie. Another court case would be to much for my brain and heart to handle. I hope Vic finds out about what just happens because he finally deserves to know somethings. And i hope Effy and Fay get together and Matt gets jealous. Or something with James.
But great job and please update!!!

Thank you so much! I still can't believe this series has been successful as it is! It's so insane to me, I'm so happy you enjoy it though. In Effy's head she's doing the right thing. She believes all the risks and sacrifices shes making are worth it. There will be definitely drama on the cards though! :)

I'm addicted to this series !!!! Just really hope edgy sorts herself out and Vic doesn't get too angry , I'd hate to see them
hating each other

@tall_evil_turtle
That's an interesting theory. Effy's thinking is definitely not that of a normal person! But her little addiction will definitely take toll in the sequel. I don't want to say too much though :)
