But I swear To God I'm Guna' Change The World
We reached the end of the Pierce The Veil tour and I was still short a guitarist. I barely found a bass player. I went to get coffee with Casey when he dropped in to see his brother. I met his nephew - James - who apparently is 'bad news' but happens to be an awesome bass player.
We're going back today. As soon as James gets here we're leaving. There's something about James I like. Not like I like Matt. But there's just something bad about him that draws me in. I can't help myself.
There's was a knock on the bus door and Mike went to answer it. I watched him and saw James grinning at me through the gap in Mike's arms. I saw Mike raise his eyebrows and I went over quickly.
"Hey," I smiled.
"He's with you?" Mike asked.
"Yeah, he's my bass player," I explained.
"Him?" Mike asked disbelievingly.
"Yeah, me," James said easily. Mike watched him carefully and looked at the way James was staring at me.
"I don't like you," Mike suddenly said, pointing his finger at James.
"Mike!" I exclaimed.
"What? I don't," he frowned. "Don't fuck up," Mike told James before he walked away.
"Ignore him," I rolled my eyes. I pulled James into a hug and he squeezed me tight against his chest.
"Where's my bag going?" he asked.
"I'll show you," I smiled. "We're taking over the back lounge," I explained. We walked inside and I saw Jaime, Mike, Casey and Tony all watching up carefully. "Seriously?" I groaned. I took him through into the back lounge but bumped up into someone. I saw Alysha and grinned.
"I have something for you," she smiled. Alysha handed me and packet of cigarettes and I sighed in relief.
"Thank you,"
"No problem,"
"And tell Mike to leave my band alone,"
"Got you," she nodded.
I took James into the back lounge and he put his bag down. I sat on the couch and he came next to me. He wrapped his arm around me and I discreetly shuffled away.
"Are you ready to do this?" I asked.
"I'm always ready," James replied with ease.
By the time we reached New York I was ready for the others. V was meeting me in New York so she could collect some things from an old friend. The bus pulled into a car park and I left James to searched for V and Fay. I opened the bus door and looked around. I heard yelling and went around the bus. I saw V holding her bag above her head before she threw it at Fay.
"You complete asshole!" V exclaimed.
"I said sorry!" Fay yelled back.
"Shut up," I rolled my eyes. They both looked at me and stopped. "What's going on?" I asked.
"This asshole burnt me with his cig," V said.
"By accident," Fay defended.
"Can we just to inside and I can get home?" I laughed.
"Sure," V shrugged.
"I can do that," Fay nodded. They got their bags and started walking to the bus.
"Asshole," V mumbled under her breath as we went inside.
"Bitch," he mumbled back.
Everyone looked at us and we went inside. "So this is it?" Dad asked.
"Yeah," I smiled.
"Good luck with no guitarist," Jaime said easily.
"We don't have a guitarist?" Fay rushed.
"I thought you were one?" V asked.
"No, I play Rhythm. It's different,"
"Great organisation, Ef'," Mike mocked.
"Mike," Alysha warned.
"Sorry," he held his hands up defensively.
"Why don't you call Matt?" Tony asked. They all turned to look at him as if to say 'don't say the M word'.
"Who's Matt?" V asked.
"A friend,"
"Can he play?" Fay asked.
"Yeah, but I'm not talking to him,"
"Effy, maybe if you called him-" Alysha tried gently.
"No!" I exclaimed. "Come on," I urged. I took them into the back lounge. They saw James on the couch and went to sit down. "Okay, Fay, V, this is James. Fay plays Rhythm as well as back up vocals and screaming. V plays drums. James plays bass. Everyone know each other?"
"I have a question," Fay said.
"Yes?" I sighed.
"When we get to San Diego where the hell are we all staying?"
"Oh, right," I mumbled. "There's a apartment in San Diego. It's very cheap because it's in one of the bad parts. I figured you might be able to handle it though. There's another a few blocks away,"
"So one for the guys and one for the girls?" James asked.
"Something like that," I shrugged.
"So you'll move in with me?" V asked.
"Once I've graduated,"
"Wait, you go to college?" Fay asked.
"Um . . . school," I bit my lip.
"You're joking," V laughed.
"I've been skipping a few dozen weeks here and there," I shrugged.
"What about a guitarist?" James asked.
"Yeah, we can't do anything without one," Fay said.
"We find one," I shrugged.
"Just like that?" V asked.
"Oh yeah," I smiled back. And I knew it was going to work. It had to.
Notes
Hey! I know I'm not updating like I used to. But things have been really hard for me lately. If you follow me on tumblr you know that. I just can't take much more of everything. If you want to message me I'll be open about everything. I'd just rather not discuss my person life in the comments. Anyway, what did you think? The band is coming together. Do you love it? Hate it? :)
@Unicat
Wow thank you so much! That's a huge complement for me. I'm so happy you enjoy my writing. One of the reasons I write is to make people smile!
I dont want to say what happens and spoil it but there are definitely no plans for Effy to get pregnant. She's been through all of that once already. Effy is facing other things. I think a court case would kill me too! :p I have something all planned out in my head that will be in the next story that I just can't wait to write. Vic will have to face a lot of home truths involving Effy in the next story. There is a lot that she's hidden from him this last year. Effy and Fay's relationship is something really unique. I don't want to say where it'll go because I don't even know. Fay is very close to Effy, that's all I'll say!
Thank you so much! New story coming up soon! :)
