Fuentes Time
Won't you push me for the last time
He left yesterday. I'm not staying at home on my own, having parties every weekend as I expected. I've been made to stay at my grandparents so I don't get into too much trouble. I think my dad forgets what I'm like now I'm more myself again. He also forgets that my grandparents don't know how I behave after I've had a bottle of vodka or three.
I went to my locker and dumped what I didn't need inside. I looked down at my schedule and started walking to Maths. I could see people looking at me. I know they haven't seen me for months, but do they need to stare? Have I got really fat or something? I went into class and saw the group sat in their usual spot at the back. I went over and sat in a empty space next to Paris. They all looked at me and I smiled.
"She's actually here," Josh grinned.
"Of course I am. I couldn't let you all forget about me," I joked.
"Like I could," Matt laughed.
"You're here for your favourite class," Paris mocked.
"Don't. Like I need this class,"
"Everyone needs Math," Davie said.
"Why do I need to know triangle bullshit where I'm going?"
"Where are you going?" Kyle asked.
"A stage with any luck. Singing, not in a office or a lab,"
"Must run in the family," Josh teased.
"You'll be okay. It's not going to be too hard to get a supporting gig under Pierce The Veil," Kyle said.
"I am not supporting my dad," I shook my head violently.
"As long as I get a pass when you're working with Jack Barakat," Paris smiled brightly.
"I've got your back," I told her.
"So what do you plan on doing then?" Davie asked.
"Booking gigs. Getting signed. The usual," I shrugged.
"Ef', first we need bass and drums," Matt reminded me.
"Oh, yeah. Speaking of that, none of you play?" I asked hopefully.
"Sorry," Josh shook his head. I sighed and rested my chin on my hand.
"We should make flyers," I thought.
"If we put your name on a flyer we're going to get thousands of crazy fans show up at your house," Matt rolled his eyes.
"I'm not going to put my address on it," I said and stuck my tongue. I looked up and noticed pen marks on the white board. I didn't even notice the teacher walked in.
"Elizabeth!" the teacher called.
"Ugh, Miss!" I groaned. "You know I hate Elizabeth,"
"It's very lovely to see you again but can we save the talk,"
"Actually we're planning my future," I countered.
"Do you have to do it here?"
"Well, I don't see myself having Pythagoras as a boss," I said, earning laughs.
"Wait outside, please," she sighed.
"I've only been here fifteen minutes,"
"Outside," she snapped. I sighed tiredly and stood up. I gathered my things and walked to the front of the class.
"Will you be coming to speak to me?"
"After I've finished class,"
"I'll come back later then," I muttered.
I left the class and shut the door behind me. I didn't really know what do you with myself. I could do without this right now. I took a slow walk to the girls toilets. When I was inside I took my jacket off and threw it up over the camera. Then I sat up on the counter by the window. I took a smoke from my bag and lit it up. I inhaled deeply and waited a while before I let smoke ride out through my nose. I took long drags. Finally when I finished I put it out and threw the end out of the window.
My phone started ringing and I sighed. I got it out and saw Dad's number. I smiled brightly and answered.
"Hi Dad," I grinned.
"Effy. How are you?" he asked warmly.
"I'm . . . good," I replied.
"You're on a break? I didn't get you in trouble on your first day?" he joked. Don't worry, Dad. I can do that on my own.
"I'm on a break," I lied.
"Good. Are things going well? Your teachers are happy to have you back?"
"I've only had Maths. But I think she missed me,"
"That's nice. And remember, go to your grandma's,"
"I know," I nodded.
"Okay, I'll call you tonight. I have an interview,"
"Mention me!" I laughed.
"Always," he agreed. "Bye,"
"Bye," I smiled and hung up.
Then I heard the bathroom door open. Shit. Our head of year walked inside and frowned at me. "Effy," she said. "Why aren't you in lesson?"
"I got kicked out," I replied slowly. I jumped down from the counter and sighed.
"Why can I smell smoke?"
"I don't know," I said awkwardly. "Do you smoke?"
"No, I don't. Empty your bag, please,"
"Miss," I groaned. As I did she pulled my jacket down from the camera. I took it gingerly and she took the pack of smokes. "Effy, detention tonight. And I'll be ringing your dad," she explained. What she doesn't know is that they have Mike's number instead of Dad's. "Back to class,"
"Yes," I sighed. I walked out and could feel her following me. I was taken back in Maths. I was allowed back inside and made my way to the back again. As my head of year left I out my head down on the desk.
"Where did you go?" Paris asked.
"To get detention," I grumbled.
@Unicat
Wow thank you so much! That's a huge complement for me. I'm so happy you enjoy my writing. One of the reasons I write is to make people smile!
I dont want to say what happens and spoil it but there are definitely no plans for Effy to get pregnant. She's been through all of that once already. Effy is facing other things. I think a court case would kill me too! :p I have something all planned out in my head that will be in the next story that I just can't wait to write. Vic will have to face a lot of home truths involving Effy in the next story. There is a lot that she's hidden from him this last year. Effy and Fay's relationship is something really unique. I don't want to say where it'll go because I don't even know. Fay is very close to Effy, that's all I'll say!
Thank you so much! New story coming up soon! :)
