Only The Good Die Young

Chapter Nine

Tony trails a bit behind Jaime and Mike as they walk up the seemingly endless stair case to Vic's apartment. He felt uncomfortable here already. He could still hear the sound of cars zooming by and he couldn't believe Mike felt safe leaving his car on the curb like that. Tony didn't get out of Sulfur Springs much though, but he did happen to know the statistics said cirme is more likely to happen in this city than where he was from, even though he was from a much larger city.

Mike falls back so Tony can catch up to him. "I know your legs are long enough you can keep stride with us," Mike teases.

Tony smiles shyly at him and Mike feels like he could melt when the younger boy giggle slightly. "They are, but they don't want to," Tony counters, trying to sound flirtatious, despite the fact he sounds rather awkward.

"You're too cute Tone," Mike gently reaches over to clasp Tony's hand in his. Tony's hand instantly interlocks with Mike's and they continue on that way until they meet Jaime infront of an apartment door. Jaime glances back and mimes gagging.

"Tone down the PAD."

Mike snorts, offering Jaime a smile. "You mean PDA."

Jaime frowns, trying not to give away the fact he was even amuse dby his blunder. The door suddenly swings open and a disgruntled looking short man stand in the door frame. "Can you guys get any louder?" He asks, his voice thick as though he had just woken up. He looks up and spots Tony, his face softens slightly realizing he was just dealing with his brother and friend. His eyes travel to Tony and Mike's interlocked hands, and him and Mike exchange glances. "Come in," Vic says, motioning to the inside of the small apartment. "Sit anywhere," he informs Tony as Mike leads him through.

Vic sits at a worn recliner and flicks on the TV. "So, Mikey's friend, what's your name? I'm Vic, by the way."

"I-I'm Tony," Tony stutters, earning a chuckle from Mike, who is gently stroking the back of Tony's hand with his thumb.

"So," Vic says, glancing over at his brother, who had inched himself even closer to Tony. "Are you two a thing?"

Mike shrugs and Tony blushes. Vic didn't need to see anymore to make an educated guess from there.

"So, Tony, I don't remember seeing you at school, are you new to Sulfur or something?" Vic inquires as he watches whatever commerical was flashing across the screen.

"Yeah, I've only been there about a year now," Tony answers.

"Nice, nice." Vic drifts off instead striking up a conversation with Jaime, who looked like he was about to implode if someone didn't talk to him that exact moment.

Mike rests his head on Tony's shoulder and Tony shifts, he felt awkward with Mike being so close, though cuddling with him the previous evening eased some of his nerves, he still didn't care for this much physical contact.

"I was thinking about heading for the coast like next week," Vic says, suddenly adressing everyone. "You guys up for a road trip?"

Jaime cheers and Mike nods. "What about you Tone, wanna go with us?" Mike asks, caressing Tony's thigh gently.

"I have work," Tony says quietly.

"C'mon, can't you just blow it off?" Mike whines. Tony shakes his head.

"Do you have any days off?" Jaime says.

"Uh, Sunday through Thursday during the school year, but it's only Monday to Wednesday during summer," Tony responds.

"You'll be fine then!" Jaime says, bouncing excitedly. "We'll leave when you get off of work Saturday, drive through the night, then Sunday morning we recoop, and Sunday afternoon and Monday will be the fundays before we return home!" Jaime smiles proudly at his plan.

Tony is still hesitant.

"Come one babe," Mike pleads.

"Yeah Tony," Jaime draws out his name for a long time.

Vic gives Tony a knowing look and lean over and whispers to him. "Just trust me, it'll be fun. Even with these two dorks."

"O-okay," Tony manages. He can already hear his aunt nagging him in the back of his mind. This isn't what college bound kids do during the summer. You must be out of your head. Speaking of his aunt, he'd have to email her tonight.

Notes

I SAID I PUT ONE UP TONIGHT.

Anywho, what would you all like to see happen in this story?

I'm sorry it's kind of a lame plot that really goes nowhere, but I'll add something cute and a little plot twist like, maybe.
