Only The Good Die Young

Chapter Five

Tony fiddles with his fingers as Mike walks him toward the party. The whole day had felt somewhat surreal, but now it felt like he was bound to wake up from a dream any second. He was a straight A honor's student, not some hoodlum that hung around at parties. He was supposed to be home studying right now, or something other than this. And when the smell of alcohol and teenagers hits his nostrils he has to fight the urge to run in the other direction, far away from Bear's house on S'tma Ridge.

"Don't be scared," Mike quietly tells Tony, taking his hand and running his thumb over Tony's. "There's nothing to be scared of." Tony looks adoringly at Mike's encouraging smile, and without thinking he presses a kiss gently on Mike's cheek, his face flushing red when he realizes what he had done. Mike stifles a laugh and shakes his head. "Don't be embarassed by doing cute things either." Mike returns a peck to Tony's cheek before heading inside to the booming party.

Mike excuses himself to go talk to some other kids shortly after they head into the party, telling Tony to go out and mingle, maybe have a drink, thought Tony didn't even have that o the list of things he wanted to do at the moment. The large farm house was crowded with sweaty, horny teenage grinding against each other, and Tony found it hard to navigate through the mess. He imagined half the teenagers on the rez were there, and the other half were probably at home, much like Tony wished he was right now. Tony sees a clearing in the crowded living room and heads for it quickly, managing to run into a tall Indian girla dn sending them flying.

"Sorry," Tony mumbles, briskly walking over to help her up.

"It's all right," she says with a smile. "Hey, aren't you Mikey's new boy toy, I thought I saw you two together earlier?"

Tony blushes at how blunt she had been. "I don't really know, we went on a date guess, then he drug me out here."

"Oh," she smiles knowingly. "I'm Aileen, by the way. You are?"

"Tony."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Tony. Want a drink?" Suddenly music begins to blare and Aileen reaches up to cover her ears. Tony hears her mumble something about how Bear had gotten the speaker working before she stalks off. Tony starts back on his quest, only to find that it was now occupied by a couple who was furiously making out.

Tony crinkles his nose in disgust and turns around, he needed somewhere with some more space. He really did not like having bodies writhing against him, and a headache was already starting to form from the music and the party-goers who now had to shout above the music to carry on with their conversations. Tony starts for the door, maybe he could head outside to find some piece. He had already ruled out the upstairs, having seen enough movies about high school parties to know what was going on upstairs. As Tony nears the door he bumps into another person, this time, however, it was Mike.

"What the fuck is your-" Mikey cuts himself off realizing it was merely Tony. "Oh, hey," Mike smiles and thrusts a red solo cup of some sort of beverage into Tony's hand. "Have a drink!" Mike all ready reeked of alcohol, and it had only been minutes since he had headed off to talk to his friends.

"Okay," Tony mumbles staring at the amber liquid with a questioning look.

"Just have some," Mike shouts above the music. "You'll like it!"

Tony puts the cup to his lips and cringes at the bitter liquid, he manages to take a big swallow and Mike stops paying attention to if Tony's drinking or not, but rather starts to pull Tony off in another direction. Tony takes that as a chance to abandon the cup down at a table, he had no intentions of coming back to it. Actually, when he got out of here he wasn't sure he even had any intentions of even going back to Mike. And he quite liked Mike before this.

Notes

Hey, for once I updated this before the Vanishing Act, which you should read along with the first part of it Smoke and Mirrors.

Today at Walmart a little kid looked up at me and growled, it was funny. Cx
