Only The Good Die Young

Chapter Four

Mike holds a chuckles back, Tony was so flustered and unsure of himself Mike couldn't help but crack a grin. "Well, I'd seen you around," Mike manages, barel containing his laughter. "And you were really cute, and seemed cool, so, I figured."

Tony gives him a slightly shocked look. Had that really been it? Then a rather regrettable comment fell from his lips before he could think about it. "By cute do you mean I look twelve, or do you wanna frick frack?" Tony blushes realizing what he had said. He'd heard Maybelle say it as a joke before, and as if it was instinct or something, he repeated it.

Mike doesn't hold back his laughter this time and full out laughs at Tony, not saying anything just laughing as though he hadn't heard anything funnier. "You're funny too," Mike adds with a little smile, punching Tony in the arm lightly from across the table.

"Uh, th-thanks," Tony can tell he's still blushing madly.

"I might ask the same to you though. Why did you agree to go out with me?" Mike says, resting his elbows on the table and his chin in his hands.

"Well, uh," Tony becomes redder, if possible, at the question. "You were really nice, and charming, and I've never actually been on a date before . . ." Tony cuts himself off as he begins to ramble.

Mike smiles, shaking his head slightly. "You're too cute for your own good Tony. You know that?" Tony doesn' answer, just blushes. Mike figured he wasn't used to getting so many compliments. Mike turns his attention back to his food and finishes it, waiting for Tony now. Tony finishes just after him, tapping his fingers on the table awkwardly. "This didn't take up as much time as I anticipated," Mike says, glancing at the clock to see it was only four twenty. "Do you s'pose we could head back and hang at your place for a while?"

Tony chews his lip. "Uh, yeah, I guess so."

"Great," Mike smiles and heads out the door, scarcely pausing to let Tony catch up. "So, Tony," Mike says, making small talk. "Are you one of those brainy kids or something?"

"I guess . . ." Tony pauses, trying to think of something to ask Mike and hopefully keep the conversation rolling. "I've never seen you around school, and you can't be much older than me, so uh, what's your deal?" Tony blushes slightly.

"Dropped out," Mike answers simply.

"Why?"

"My brother was a real egg head and he graduated early, and when he left for college I had no one forcing me to be in school any more, so I just quit." Mike says that as though it were a common thing for someoen to hear, even though it sounded weird to Tony. Since he'd been going to school in Sulfur Springs only two kids had dropped out, but only because they were on the verge of expulsion and figured, why not?

Tony scrunches his nose. "I can't even imagine dropping out. My aunt would skin me alive before I could even think about it."

Mike shrugs again. "It's not for everyone." He offers a smile to Tony.

They stroll into Tony's nad continue to make small talk as they waited for the proper time to head out.

Notes

Oo, and update for this too. Cx
Pretty much one giant filler so far, hopefull I'll pick up the pace.

On another note, suggestions on what should happen next would be awesome.
