Only The Good Die Young

Chapter Twenty-four

"Are you okay Mike?" Vic questions his brother, eyeing him suspiciously all the while.

"Yeah, just a little worried, I guess," Mike responds shifting in the plastic chair he was seated in.

"About what," Vic pauses considering any possibilities. ". . . or whom?"

Jaime emerges from the tent suddenly. "What is this I hear? Mike Fuentes cares about somebody and is not using them for anything?" He looks at Mike with a raised eyebrow.

"Well no duh. I obviously care about Tony, I mean I've literally invested all summer into him." Mike crosses his arms defiantly.

Jaime starts into some childish chant, where as Vic's face takes a look of concern. "Then what about Tone has you down?" His voice is quiet so anyone walking by wouldn't be able to hear the conversation.

"'m just worried his aunt won't want me around him," Mike answers, looking toward his feet.

Vic nods, in an understanding way. "You could always go up and have an informal get together. I wouldn't blame you." He shrugs his shoulders.

Mike purses his lips in consideration a moment before standing up. "I think I am," he announces quietly giving Vic a quick hug and mumbling a 'thanks.' Mike makes his way to his car and back to the rez.

He parks infront of the trail and hops out, easily climbing the wooden steps to the front door. He knocks and brings his jittery hand down to his thigh where he taps his hand nervously. A petite woman he assumes to be Tony's aunt answers the door. Her initial look is one of shock, but it morphs to a sort of pokey face.

"Hello," she greets monotonely. "How can I help you?"

"Actually, I was wondering if I could talk to you. You see I'm Tony's uh," Mike searches for a way to subtly describe it incase Tony hadn't already told her.

"Boyfriend," she supplies, her lips pursed bitterly. "Listen, I don't think you should see Tony anymore."

"Could you please just let me explain myself?" Mike pleads, becoming desperate.

She still looks upset but she beckons for Mike to enter the trailer. He moves to the couch and she motions to the kitchen. Mike walks into the brightly lit area and takes a seat at the table, fiddling with his hand nervously.

"Go ahead, explain yourself," she states, her arms crossing her chest.

"Well, you see I asked Tony out really early int he summer. And I kind of just wanted to uh," a blush spread across his face awkwardly. "I sort of just wanted to screw him. -Which I have not done- But I took him out to dinner, and I realized that I really liked him, so we sort of just started hanging out and stuff." That was a slight stretche fo the truth, and when Mike looked toward Tony's aunt she looked unimpressed.

Mike sighs. Then suddenly he realizes that she probably had a pretty good idea of his reputation. It was a community of only four-hundred or so after all. "Okay, so I know you're probably thinking about hw I always get portrayed as a drunken high school drop out. But let me just say . . ."

Notes

Okay, sorry this is short and that I haven't updated in a writers block two weekend ago, then I was really busy last weekend.
