Only The Good Die Young

Chapter Twenty

"Tone, wake up," Mike cooes softly, peppering the sleeping boy's face with kisses.

Tony let's out a frustratingly adorable whine and rolls over so he can bury his face in his pillow. "Too early," Mike hears a faint mumbles followed by Tony curling into a tight ball.

"Come on Tony." Mike gently places a hand on Tony's shoulder and shakes until Tony finally rolls over to face him.

"It's too early Michael," Tony insists, looking up at Mike with tired eyes.

"Well, you gotta get up if you want breakfast this morning," Mike says, pressing a kiss to Tony's cheek. "We're leaving in five minutes with or with out you." Mike leaves the tent to join Vic and Jaime outside. Tony sighs lightly and maneuvers out from his sleeping bag and to his back pack. he quickly puts on clean clothes and shoes and joins the rest of the guys outside.

"It's alive!" Jaime laughs, sending a joking smile Tony's way.

Tony chuckles slightly too. He did have to admit it was kind of funny, no matter how over played. "So, where do we even eat breakfast around here?" He questions, his voice still heavy from sleep.

"The pavilion," Mike answers, awkwardly taking Tony's hand so he can lead him off in the right direction. He pulls Tony into a white building with ugly brown flooring. There were several rows of those gray fold out table places through out the room in a cafeteria sort of style, and mismatched folding chair sat about them. Mike pays for Tony and himself at a table set apart form the rest at the front of the room. He hands Tony a paper plate and leads him through the salad bar which currently only housed fruit and apple sauce. Tony picked up an apple and he followed Mike along a counter where tired looking kid's in aprons served them French toast and scrambled eggs.

"Okay, sit with Vic and Hime and I'll go get us something to drink, yes?" Mike turns to walk away before he pauses and looks back at Tony. "Water, milk, or juice?"

"Water, please," Tony answers. He wanted to go get it himself, but if he did Mike would insist he go back to his seat. So he makes conversation with Vic and Jaime as they eat their breakfast. Mike comes back and hands Tony a Styrofoam cup of water before starting to eat himself.

They finish in around fifteen minutes, a two tired looking nine-year-olds take their plates and silverware. Mike explained that the 4-Hers ran the kitchen and that's why there were all the kids running around. The parents did the cooking though, of course. By the time they actually left the pavilion, it was already starting to warm up. Causing the wet grass to feel weird as it touched the skin exposed from Tony's sandals.

"What next?" Tony asks, smiling broadly at Mike.

"Well, Vic and Hime said something about there being really awesome art in the Home Ec building. So how 'bout we take a jaunt through there?"

Tony nods and follows Mike to said building. At first Tony had trouble seeing much of anything in there. It was cluttered and filled with at least a billion projects, most of which not even related. Finally Mike takes control and shows him the different areas. In the visual arts section there were several amazing paintings, and person done in something called "stipple," which Tony was pretty a technique of using dots to create a picture. It looked like it must have been tedious to do, but the end result was good. Tony had to admit the Cloverbud stuff was his favorite, though. The things the little kids had made were ridiculously adorable and easily distinguishable from everyone elses stuff due to their rainbow colored ribbons.

Tony guesses they had easily spent an hour examining things in the Home Ec. barn when they finally wandered out. It was still only eleven, at the latest, though. Mike groans. "There's still like another hour before the midway opens!" Mike reaches over and grabs Tony's hand, finding some of his frustration being released by the simply action. "We'll look at the booths then?" Tony nods and follows Mike as he had been all day.

Notes

Short, but an update.

Okay, so this has like five or six more chapters maybe.
Then I will finish "the Vanishing Act," which I finally have idea for! :D
Then after that I have an idea for a prequel to "the Vanishing Act" and "Smoke and Mirrors" or another one, which I'll probably do before that. So yeah~
