My phone started ringing and I saw Kate's number. I smiled and answered it. "Hello?" I asked.
"I miss you, Zee," she rushed.
"I miss you too," I told her.
"Then come back. It's horrible in San Diego,"
"It isn't," I sighed. "And it's been good here. I've been here two weeks and I haven't missed home,"
"But you're getting bigger now. What if you need me?" Kate asked seriously.
"I'm living with Vic. He won't let anything bad happen to me,"
"How do you know?" she sighed.
"I just do,"
"And what is it like living with him? I mean you're not together," she reminded me.
"No, we're not," I sighed.
"What's wrong?" she muttered.
"Two weeks ago I slept with Vic," I admitted.
"You what?" Kate gasped.
"I didn't mean to and it was stupid because he's with Steph. But we did,"
"Are you secretly together?"
"No, nothing's happened since then,"
"Is it awkward living together?"
"No, it's nice," I smiled. "And I'd never try anything again because he's with Steph. I need to respect that,"
"That's good," she agreed. "Just be careful,"
"I will," I promised.
"Are you at Vic's now?"
"No, I'm at Mike's,"
"Oh, you should go back to yours. Someone is coming over with your things from home,"
"Okay, who's bringing them?"
"It's a surprise," Kate laughed.
"Tell me," I urged.
"Just go home and wait and see," she added.
"Fine," I rolled my eyes.
"I love you and keep me updated,"
"I will, love you too," I told her. I placed my phone on Mike's table and looked up as he walked in the room. "I've got to go back,"
"No, why?" Mike frowned.
"Not back back. Just back to Vic's," I laughed.
"Oh, how come?"
"Someone is coming up with my things from home," I explained and he nodded.
"Do you want a lift?"
"I can get a cab," I shrugged.
"I'm not letting you go in a cab. What if you end up giving birth?" he asked seriously.
"I'm not," I laughed. "I'm seventeen weeks, Mike,"
"I'm driving," he said firmly. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag. He led me out of his house and outside. He opened his car up and I got in the front passengers seat. Mike got in the drivers seat and started the car. As he pulled out on the road I started to mess with the radio. "You're getting bigger," he told me as we drove.
"Am I fat?" I asked seriously.
"No," he shook his head. "You're pregnant,"
"Thanks," I smiled. We reached Vic's place and Mike pulled up.
"Text me if you need me," Mike told me.
"I promise," I smiled. I got out of the car and went to the door. I unlocked it and went inside and up to Vic's apartment. From the window I saw Mike drive away. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. Then I heard the intercom and went to answer it. No one was talking so I went down. I opened the door and squealed in surprise.
"Surprise!" Alan and Austin beamed at me.
"Oh my God!" I gasped. "What're you doing here?!"
"We have your stuff," Alan told me.
"And more herbal tea from Katelynne," Austin added and I wrinkled my nose.
"Come here," I urged. I hugged Alan first. He squeezed me tightly, being careful of my growing stomach.
"Wow you're getting fat," he commented.
"She's not!" Austin wanted and hit him across the head. I hugged Austin next and he held me for a while. He kissed my head gently and I opened the door for them. "Where's your apartment?" Austin asked.
"Third floor," I told them.
"We'll get your bags," he said and they went to their car. They both grabbed two big bags each and started for the door. I directed them up and down the hall. I took them inside and showed them to my room. I opened my door for them and they went inside. They set my bags down on the floor and straightened up.
"Is this everything?" I asked.
"Yeah, all your stuff," Alan said and took a seat down on my bed. I joined him and Austin sat on my armchair. "So what's it like here?"
"It's good," I replied easily.
"And Vic hasn't tried anything with you?" Austin asked carefully. He cares so much. I can't help being in love with Austin.
"No," I lied.
"Good," Alan nodded firmly.
"Why?" I laughed. "Fistfights at dawn," I mocked.
"Well," he sighed.
"Whatever," I rolled my eyes.
"How's the baby?" Austin asked seriously.
"Really good. I think. I have a scan in a few weeks,"
"That's good for you. Have you thought about finances and things once it's born?"
"I'm giving it up for adoption. I told you both that," I muttered and looked down.
"Are you sure?" Austin asked.
"That's a big decision," Alan commented.
"I know it is," I said quietly.
"You need to think it fully through," Austin said.
"I know guys," I sighed. Did I want to give it up though?
"Wasn't that the door?" Alan asked.
"I'll go see," I sighed. "It's probably Vic," I shrugged. I got up and went down the hallway. I peered into the kitchen and found no one. But then I heard voices. I looked in the sitting room, hiding behind am open door and saw Vic's girlfriend, Steph with a guy that lived a block away. I froze and watched them. They kissed one another passionately and reluctantly pulled away. My eyes widened and my mouth hung open.
"I don't know if I can carry on doing this, Steph," the guy sighed.
"Why not? You know I don't want to break up with Vic," she replied.
"Maybe it's time to. I mean, it's been what? A month,"
"But he's such a nice guy. I don't want to hurt him,"
"If you don't someone will find out and he'll discover the hard way,"
"I know," Steph sighed. "I'll do it, just not today,"
"Do you love me?" the guy asked.
"I do," Steph said. "I really love you,"
"Good," the guy smiled. "I love you too,"
"You should go. Vic will be home soon," she said.
"Okay," he nodded and kissed her lips. He started out of the apartment and I hurried back down the hallway. I rested my back against the wall by my room and breathed heavily. Oh fuck.
