Break the Barricade

Vic

We had been touring for a week now and Jaime was still watching me all the time. I knew he meant it well, but it annoyed me anyway. I think feeling the need to watch me was something that run in the Preciado family. Thea asked me how I was at least three times a day, always with the same worried look in her eyes. The weird thing about it though was that I didn’t mind it. I would never tell her the truth, but it felt good to know she cared. She only knew me for a week. This girl was special, I was sure of it.
Something else I was sure of was that she was hiding something just as much as I was. A few days ago we went to get Starbucks and suddenly she started acting all weird. When we were heading back to the venue she suddenly turned around and went to talk with some not-so-friendly looking girl. It didn’t seem like talking though. It seemed more like Thea was threatening that girl. I was sure that girl deserved it, but I still exchanged some worried looks with Jaime. When she went back to Jaime and me she told us that it was nothing. By the way Jaime looked at her I knew that it wasn’t nothing and that he knew more about it then I did. I wasn’t going to pressure it though. I knew what it felt like to be pressured into talking and I knew that it doesn’t feel too great. That didn’t keep me from worrying about her though. She was such a nice girl and she just didn’t deserve to get shit in any way at all. Maybe I just cared about her.
“Hey,” Thea greeted me as she walked into the front lounge.
We had just done our nineth show of this tour and I was exhausted. Mike and Tony really wanted to go out, but I didn’t feel like it. After Jaime asked me about a million times if I would really be fine if I stayed in the van and I confirmed a million times I would be he went along with them.
“Hey,” I smiled.
“Mind if I join you?” she asked.
I shook my head and patted on the couch next to me. She sat down.
“Why didn’t you go out with the others?” she asked me.
“I’m tired,” I told her. “Why didn’t you?”
“I’m tired,” she imitated me. “Seriously though, do you ever sleep?”
I smiled and shook my head. “No,” I said. “Real rock stars don’t sleep.”
“That explains why you’re always tired,” she muttered.
I shrugged. “I might actually sleep early tonight though. The others aren’t here now to keep me awake anyway,” I said. It always seemed like everybody else had so much more energy than I did. Often the others were still talking for hours after I went back to my bunk.
“Oh, so you don’t like my company enough to stay awake for?” she joked.
“I actually love your company and I won’t go to sleep already,” I replied. “Just a bit earlier than usual. But can I ask you something?”
She nodded. “Yeah of course.”
“What happened the other day? When we were heading back to the venue from Starbucks?” I asked. I still didn’t want to pressure her into talking about it, but I just had to let her know that if she wanted to talk I was here. “You don’t need to tell me,” I added. “But if you want to I’m here.”
“Thanks,” she said softly, unconsciously scratching her stomach. “Don’t worry about it though. Sometimes people just stress me and then I get mad. But it’s nothing bad, I’m fine.”
I nodded slowly. I didn’t believe her entirely, but who was I to question her? It’s not like I was honest to anyone either. There was a short awkward silence before Thea decided on a completely different subject.
“Don’t you ever get annoyed by all the fangirls?”
I shook my head immediately. “No of course not,” I replied honestly. “Our fans are the reason why we are where we are today. I owe a lot to them.”
“Okay yeah I can imagine that,” Thea replied. “Yesterday two girls followed me around though, and I think they were your fans. It was kind of creepy actually.”
“I guess you have to get used to that if you want to be a music tech,” I grinned. “Some fans literally stalk anyone that has anything to do with the band. Most of the fans are great though.”
“Have you ever read fan fiction though?” she asked. “Because I did and it was so weird. And I wasn’t even reading it about myself. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to read fan fiction about myself.”
“Reading fan fiction is one of my favorite activities,” I winked. “Especially the Fuenciado and the Kellic ones. It’s honestly amazing to read about myself kissing my best friends.”
“Fuenciado? Kellic? What’s that?”
I grinned. “Fuenciado is the combination of my surname and Jaime’s and it basically means they are writing about a relationship between Jaime and me. I bet you can guess what Kellic means now.”
Thea sighed. “The stuff fangirls come up with,” she smiled. “You know, Fuenciado could be about our relationship too.”
“Since when do we have a relationship?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “Since when do you and Jaime have a relationship?”
“Since always,” I winked. “I guess I fell for his dimples.”
“But I have those too!” Thea exclaimed.
I nodded. “You are right. Maybe Fuenciado could be about our relationship too.”
She rolled her eyes. “Now all we have to do is wait for the fan fictions to be written about us. I can’t wait.”
I laughed. “Me neither.”

Notes

Yay I´m in time this time ;D Finally a chapter without much drama, do you like it? We have lots of drama coming up in the next few chapters though, hopefully you'll like that too :)
