Break the Barricade

Vic

“This show is lame,” Mike sighed.
I nodded and Mike took the controller to put the television on a different channel. We were currently hanging out on our tour bus, just me and Mike. Jaime and Tony were watching the sound check of the Sleeping with Sirens guys and Thea had to sort out some tech stuff. We were bored though. If you spend as much time on a tour bus as we did at some point you just run out of things to do.
My thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and Alex came in.
“Can’t you knock?” I started, but I silenced as soon as I saw the look on Alex’s face. It was a combination of horror and panic. He breathed heavily, as if he had been running.
“Vic, you have to come now,” he rushed. “It’s Thea, she-”
It seemed like Alex’s voice was stuck in his throat and he just motioned for us to come. A worried feeling was rising up in my chest as me and Mike got up to follow Alex out of the bus.
We hurried towards the venue. All kinds of horrible scenarios were running through my mind. In most Thea was either heavily wounded or dead. “Alex, what’s going on?” Mike asked as we were running. I tried moving faster, but I couldn’t. We were basically sprinting.
“Thea-” he started.
“God damn it Alex, just say it!” I shouted to him. “I want to know what the fuck is going on!”
By now we reached the venue and we all run inside, past the security.
“She beat someone up!” Alex blurted out. “Badly.”
“What? Where is she?” I screamed. This was all my fault, I should’ve helped her somehow. My selfish mind had convinced me I couldn’t, but maybe if I had tried there would’ve been a way I could’ve prevented this.
We ran into a hall and there we found Jaime and Tony sitting against the wall. Jaime had buried his face in his hands and Tony was resting his head against the wall with his eyes closed.
I ran to them and stopped right in front of Jaime. “Where is Thea? What is going on?” I asked, my voice trembling. I could even hear the panic in my own voice.
Jaime looked up and I noticed his eyes were red. “We locked her up in the Sleeping with Sirens dressing room,” he mumbled. “It’s the only empty one right now.”
“What the hell is going on?” Mike interrupted us. “Thea beat someone up. How? What happened?”
Tony sighed. “We don’t know either. It was a horrible sight. I think-” he paused for a moment. “I think Thea would’ve killed her if I hadn’t found out in time.”
What? Of course not! Thea would never kill anyone else. I knew she has anger issues, but it can’t possibly have been that bad. The look on Tony’s face tells me differently though.
“Where is that girl?” Mike asked shallowly.
“Where she was,” Jaime replied. “Down the hall at sound check.”
Mike raised his eyebrows. “You guys just left her there?” he asked accusingly. “Alone?”
Tony shook his head. “No, Jack is with her.”
Alex scraped his throat to draw our attention to him. “I will join Jack,” he said softly. “Might even join the girl to the hospital. I don’t know yet.”
We just nodded and Alex left.
We remained silent for a while. It was all a bit overwhelming to me. I didn’t really know what I felt either. Guilt, I guess. Maybe shame too. I didn’t feel pain though. I wish I did.
I buried my face in my hands and I bit the inside of my cheeks hard while I thought about how Thea must be feeling like right now. Mike put his arm around me.
After a while Mike finally spoke up. “So what are we going to do now?” He asked the question that had been wandering around in my thoughts ever since it happened. What was going to happen? I just didn’t want things to change. I just wanted to wake up, realizing it was all just a bad dream. Maybe Jaime would start laughing soon, telling me it was all one big, sick joke. I would be pissed and terribly upset with him, but I would forgive him and all would be good. Thea would run into us in the hallways and ask me what the hell was going on here. And then she would laugh and ask me how I could believe that. She would tell me she could never do something like that and I would say I believed her. Then we would kiss. But Jaime never started laughing and I never woke up. It was a horrible nightmare, but that nightmare was called reality.
Jaime took out his phone and looked at the time. “She’s been in the dressing room for thirty minutes now,” he told us. “That’s enough. I think she has calmed down.”
Tony looked at me. “Maybe Vic should go in first,” he said softly. “Then after a while we’ll go in and we’ll have to talk. I don’t know what else either.”
I just nodded and Mike pulled his arm away. My heart sunk into my stomach as I walked towards the Sleeping with Sirens dressing room. I felt bad for leaving her there like that, but I knew they locked her up for a reason and she needed to be alone.
I stood still for the door of the dressing room for a few seconds, trying to steady my breathing. I don’t think Thea could handle me being upset right now. I had to be there for her, not the other way around. Then I unlocked the door and opened it.

Notes

So Kelci and I decided to split this chapter up for a few reasons. First of all, as one chapter this would become way too long. I also don't have the next part done yet and I don't want to make you guys wait any longer, so I just decided to post the first part. The second will be on as soon as possible, I'm aiming for tomorrow (but as you all know I'm the most horrible updater alive).

So yeah, I hope you're enjoying this story. We still have lots of stuff coming up!
