Break the Barricade

Vic

The next morning I woke up with Thea in my arms. I couldn’t get up, but I didn’t care too much. I could spend the rest of my life in this bunk, with her. It was perfect. She was perfect. It felt like since I met her, I finally learned what happiness was. It was amazing just to hold her in my arms. I wanted her to be this close to me forever, because each time she moved and I felt the warmth of her body pressing against me my chest exploded with happiness. It felt like it was supposed to be this way and that feeling was great for a change.
Memories of last night slowly came flooding back to me. Not that I remembered everything – I forgot at least half of the evening. But I could remember everything that happened when I was with Thea. I remembered how amazing it felt to be so close to her. I remembered the way her body was moving against mine. I remembered what it felt like to have her soft lips pressed against mine. I could hardly believe all of that really happened. I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. But the fact that I was with Thea in my bunk and that she was lying in my arms proved that it wasn’t just some beautiful dream. I didn’t regret it at all.
Suddenly Thea started moving and then she slowly opened her eyes.
I gave her a soft kiss on her nose and smiled. “Good morning, beautiful,” I greeted her. She was blushing and it was one of the cutest things I had ever seen.
“Good morning,” she mumbled in the crook of my neck. I smiled at her before Islowly got up. I gave her a small kiss on her lips and then I headed towards the shower, whistling. I could get used to waking up next to Thea like that.

A few hours later we were all hanging out in the front lounge. There was a knock on the door and Jack walked inside. Suddenly I remembered the things he had been saying last night and I felt myself getting pissed off at him again.
“What do you want?” Mike sighed. I clearly wasn’t the only one that remembered last night. I saw Thea glaring at him and Jaime and Tony simply ignored his presence.
Jack scratched his neck and bit his lip nervously. “I just wanted to say that I am sorry,” he mumbled, looking at the ground.
Mike rolled his eyes. “How could you have such little respect?” he asked Jack. “You don’t just joke around about something as serious as self harm. Some of your fans go through that, Jack. And not only your fans, but also other people whom you don’t even expect it from. Maybe someone who was in that room struggles with it and you don’t even know. And you know why you don’t know? Because people like you make it impossible for them to tell, that’s why.”
Jack took a few seconds to reply. “My friends don’t do that,” he said softly. “And I was fucking wasted. I don’t even remember half of it. Of course I know I was wrong, but really is it that bad? I didn’t intend to hurt anyone.”
Mike got that look in his eyes he always gets when he wants to break someone’s nose. He knew everyone was watching though, so he took a few deep breaths to calm his anger before he turned to Jack again. “Is it that bad? What is wrong with you? Yes it is that bad, you’re making a joke out of a serious issue. And you don’t know if your friends do that. If any of them did you would be the last person they would tell.” He was practically shouting now. It’s been a while ago since Mike got this angry. Somewhere it made me feel happy, because I knew he was doing this for me. “And you didn’t stop after that. No, you had to start bullshitting about Vic’s and Thea’s relationship. Fuck Jack, I understand you are jealous, but leave them alone.”
Now Jack looked like he wanted to run out of the van right now, and I almost felt sorry for him. Everyone else was just staring at Mike, who was still glaring at Jack. I could almost feel the tension.
Then Jaime finally spoke up. “Come on Mike,” he said. “That’s enough. Jack was drunk, he said a few things he didn’t mean and he said sorry. Let’s forget about it.”
Jack gave Jaime a grateful look. Jaime lightly smiled back.
Mike shrugged. “Whatever,” he mumbled. “Don’t do this again, Barakat. I might actually break your face then.”
“I won’t,” Jack assured, looking slightly relieved because he didn’t receive any punch. Then he turned to me and Thea. “I really am sorry,” he told us.
“It’s okay,” I told him. And it was. I knew he was drunk and I knew he didn’t mean it, so I couldn’t really stay mad at him.
He nodded quickly. Then he left the van again.
“Damn, I really wanted to hit him,” Mike grunted. “But I think it’s better for our friendship that I didn’t,” he added quickly, and like that I knew Mike had forgiven him too. Though I don’t think Mike would forgive him so easily if it happened again.
I noticed Thea had been silent the whole conversation, so I intertwined my fingers with hers and took her back to the back lounge. We sat down there and she rested her head against my chest.
“Are you okay?” I asked her softly.
“Yeah, I guess,” she replied. “I just didn’t like that whole discussion. It’s really sweet Mike was sticking up for us like that, but what if Jack is suspicious now?” She quickly glanced at her thighs and I knew what she meant.
“Don’t worry,” I told her. “I am sure he isn’t suspicious, Mike didn’t say anything too obvious.”
“But what if he is? He would judge me. Us.”
I laughed bitterly. “If he is suspicious of anyone he is of me. I’m the one wearing long sleeves the entire time. But he is not suspicious of me either, I am sure. And even if he is, does that really matter? If he judges us then screw him, but he probably won’t. You need to remember that he was drunk last night. He didn’t mean it.”
“I guess you’re right,” Thea mumbled.
I smiled at her. “Of course I am right,” I said. I moved forward to kiss her. When we pulled away I suddenly realized something. “We don’t even have a picture together!”
I immediately took my phone out. “We’re gonna take one now,” I told her.
When Thea nodded I turned the camera towards us and we both smiled, the sides of our faces touching each other. I took the picture.
“I love it!” Thea said immediately. I smiled and nodded. I did too. She looked so beautiful.
“I’m gonna post this on Instagram now,” I said to Thea. “I want everyone to know how beautiful my girlfriend is.”
Thea smiled widely. “Are you really going to tell the fans?” she asked happily.
I nodded and I went to Instagram. I added the caption ‘She is beautiful and she is mine’. Thea was blushing and I smiled to her. Then I posted it.
