Lyla's POV

"My head hurts like a bitch." I said, Emma gave a small laugh.

I glared at her a little, but it seemed more like squinting since my eyes were already closed quite a bit. I stretched out on the couch and my bones popped a little, which caused Emma to shudder slightly.

"Gross!" She exclaimed.

I laughed at her until I sat up, realizing that the TV still displayed my face. I stared at it, eyes widened and filled with horror. She knew. Emma caught on to what I had been staring at,

"Is that what caused you to pass out?" She asked, a hint of worry in her voice.

I shook my head no, but I think she could tell I was lying. I grabbed the remote and turned off the television. Except for the dim kitchen light, the apartment was dark. Emma sighed and stood up.

"I have to get ready for work. Do you want to come with me? It'll be boring if you stay here by yourself." She made a good point, so I got up off of the couch.

"Let me change first." I said, grabbing my two bags and heading into the bathroom I found earlier.

"Lyla, you can use this room to change." She said, pointing over to one of the bedroom doors. I turned off the light in the bathroom and headed into the bedroom.

"Thanks." I told her, a slight smile on my face as I closed the door behind me.

Emma's POV

I shook my head as I walked over to my bedroom door, laughing a little. What I had on was fine for work, so I just did my make-up and grabbed a sweatshirt in case the tattoo shop got cold. I had been practicing tattoos on any takers, but other than that I tattooed citrus fruits and cleaned up.

Something I probably should've mentioned to Lyla was that by tattoos I meant fruits.

Oh well. I laughed again. I exited my room, sweatshirt in the bend of my elbow, and knocked on Lyla's door (I guess it's her door now).

"Lyla, you should bring a sweatshirt in case it gets cold at the shop." I said.

"OKAY!" She called out. I proceeded to walk in the living room, grabbing a few of my latest sketches. A few minutes passed when Lyla walked out of the door and into the living room.

"Ready?"

"Ready." She replied. I turned around and saw that she changed her bottoms and top. She carried the same sweater from before and wore the same shoes.

"I can see that you like Batman." She said referring to my sweatshirt and bracelet.

I nodded my head, "Yes, indeed I do enjoy Batman, but he's probably #5 on my list of favorite characters." I stood up and Lyla followed behind me as we walked out of the door. I locked it and off we went to the tattoo shop.

We finally arrived at the tattoo shop and I opened the door for Lyla, gesturing that she walk in first. Once I was inside I went over to Alex's desk and let her know I was here. I asked if Gey (pronounced Guy) need my help with anything.

"I haven't heard him say anything, but take this broom just in case." She handed my a broom from behind her and I grabbed the basket of citrus fruits. I waved my hand toward the rest of the shop, where all the fun stuff happened.

"Lyla, this way." She followed my past the desk and over to my apprentice station. I pulled a stool over for her to sit on and got out what I would need for the day. Gey over from his side after he finished up a tattoo and greeted me.

"Who's your friend, Emma?" He asked with one eyebrow raised.

"This is Lyla, Lyla this is Gey." I responded, "She just arrived in San Diego and she's staying with me at the moment." Gey looked over at Lyla and smiled.

"Nice to meet you!" He extended his hand and she shook back. I laughed at the awkwardness that surrounded the two.

"So who's coming in today, Gey?" I looked up at him and he handed me the schedule.

"Some guy named Tony Perry, I think?" Gey shook his head. I handed him the schedule and he walked back over to his station on the other side of the room. I began to tattoo my fruits while conversing with Lyla.

"What made you come to San Diego, Lyla?" I could hear Gey laughing in disbelief.

"I needed a change, you know?" She replied shyly. I shook my head in agreement.

"After this I'll be heading to my real job. Do you have a job?" I asked, looking up at her seriously.

"No..." Her voice trailed off and she looked down. I was about to reply when Alex called Gey over. I guess that guy was here. I shrugged and continued tattooing the fruit. Lyla just sat there, watching me tattoo the fruit.

She stood up from the stool and out of the corner of my eye I could see her rocking on the balls of her feet. I looked up from the fruit to see Lyla, excitement plastered all over her face. She was biting her lip and you could hear faint squeals in the bottom of her throat. I looked over to the lobby and saw some guy standing there. He had tattoos already, but I guess he wanted more.

I stood up and got beside Lyla, "What is up with you, girl?" I whispered in her ear.

She turned and looked at me, her mouth wide open. "How do you not...?" She trailed off and pointed at the guy. He started to get closer and Lyla looked as if she couldn't hold in her excitement any longer. I took her hand and tried to calm her down, but I just couldn't.

"Ladies, this is Tony Perry." Gey introduced him.

"I know." Lyla blurted out, she slapped her hands over her face and peeked in between her fingers. Her face was red with embarrassment. "I can't believe I said that..." She mumbled, turning away.

"I don't- didn't know. Hi, I'm Emma. That's Lyla." I extended my hand towards Tony and he shook it. Gey led him over to his station when he looked up at the clock on the wall.

"Hey, Emma, don't you have to be at work?!" He yelled across the room. I checked the time with my phone.

"Shit!" I muttered. I grabbed Lyla's hand and dragged her out of the shop.

"BYE, NICE MEETING YOU!" I called out behind me and Lyla. I quickly got into the car.

"Come on, Lyla, we're going to be late for work!" I rushed her to get in and grabbed my uniform from the back seat of my car.

"'We're'?" She quoted, questioning my choice of words.

"Yes, 'We're'. You need a job, and now you've got one." I said, driving off.

Notes

I KNOW THE LAST UPDATE WAS LIKE 3 HOURS AGO!
So don't get used to these frequent updates, I'm just trying to get this story going.

Sorry if the ending felt rushed, and sorry that there was no automatic connection between either of the girls and Tony. (Don't worry, they'll meet again.)

Emma's Sweatshirt: http://www.polyvore.com/only_batman_sweatshirt/thing?id=90072916

Also, don't take the descriptions of the guys at these ages seriously. I have no idea what they looked like then, but this is fiction so oh well.
