Fuentes Girl
I'll know everything is alright
"You look nice," Dad smiled.
"Thanks," I breathed.
"Where are you going?" Mike asked.
"I need to talk to you," I muttered. Tony and Jaime went to get up but I stopped them. "No, I kind of need to ask you something as well," I rushed.
"Shoot," Mike urged.
"So, I've been hanging out in the studio a lot,"
"I know," Dad groaned. "You're holding up my writing,"
"And Matt has been there too," I added.
"Do you and your boyfriend get cosy in the studio?" Mike laughed.
"He's not my boyfriend," I snapped and watched Dad glare at Mike. "Anyway, I've been singing,"
"You sing?" Jaime raised his eyebrows.
"Yeah, kind of. It's probably rubbish but Matt likes it," I shrugged.
"You've never sang for me," Dad said.
"But your voice is so much better than mine," I sighed.
"Is Vic's higher than yours?" Tony laughed.
"And Matt plays guitar. So we've kind of been recording some stuff," I explained.
"What? Like songs?" Dad's face brightened.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Who wrote them?" he asked excitedly.
"I did,"
"Are they good?" he asked and I shrugged. "So you have a demo?"
"We've nearly got one. It isn't finished,"
"Can I listen?"
"I guess. It's in the studio," I explained.
"I'm so proud of you," Dad told me. He gestured for me to come over and he wrapped his arms around me.
"They might be shit," Mike reminded him.
"They won't be," Dad said quickly.
"Thanks," I smiled. "And for a few of the songs we need bass and drums,"
"Jaime and Mike will help you out," he told me.
"What?" Jaime asked.
"I didn't agree to this," Mike mumbled.
"It's your niece," Dad rolled his eyes.
"And Tony could you show Matt some tricks on the guitar?" I asked.
"Sure," Tony smiled.
"So you like Matt?" I asked Dad.
"Yeah, he's a good kid,"
"So you won't mind that he's taking me out on a date tonight," I rushed and got up to walk away.
"Effy!" Dad called. I turned around and frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Last month Matt said to tell him when I'm ready and he'll take me out on a date. I'm ready now," I explained.
"You're not,"
"I am," I countered. "Please," I begged.
"Effy, what if something goes wrong?"
"I'll call you. And tell you ever detail after. If he even thinks of having sex with me I'll run away,"
"You're having sex with no one," Dad added.
"Um yeah," I agreed, seeing Mike watching me.
Then the door bell rang. I rushed to get it but Mike stopped me, sending Jaime. I sighed and folded my across my chest crossly. I saw Matt follow Jaime in and look around. Dad, Mike and Tony were standing behind me. I rolled my eyes at them. "This is a joke!" I exclaimed. "I love you all but I'm going," I said and went over to Matt.
"Effy," Dad said and I looked back. "Be careful," he added. I smiled and left them.
"Hey," I said to Matt when we were outside.
"Hey, that was intense,"
"Tell me about it," I rolled my eyes.
"You look really pretty," Matt told me.
"Thanks," I smiled. "Where you taking me?"
"To this place on the beach. It has the best food," Matt promised.
"Great," I grinned. Matt took my hand and we started walking.
When we reached the beach Matt led me inside this little place. It was small inside and dimly lit, but had booths that overlooked the sea and sand. We was taken to a table by a waitress and Matt slid inside. I slid in next to him and he looked at me. "I prefer it like this," I told him. I scanned through the menu. Matt watched and I looked up. "What?" I asked.
"Nothing," he shrugged.
"Ready to order?" a waitress asked us.
"Can I have a cola to drink," I told her.
"And I'll have the same," Matt added.
"And can I have a beef burger and fries,"
"Hamburger," Matt corrected.
"Shut up," I playfully glared at him.
"I'll have the Mexican dish," Matt said and the woman left us.
"Aren't I supposed to be the one ordering Mexican?" I teased.
"Not this time," I laughed. I leant back against the seat and Matt went to wrap his arm around my shoulders.
"Is this okay?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. I watched him and saw how careful he was around me. Matt was looking through the place. I moved his face with my finger so he was looking at me. Matt was questioning me with his eyes. I leant in a little and waited.
"Can I?" Matt asked and I nodded silently. I needed him to meet my lips. I couldn't do this on my own. Matt closed the distance between our lips. I kissed him back and sighed when drinks were set on our table.
"Sorry," the woman mumbled.
"I'm sorry," Matt sighed deeply. "Shit,"
"It's okay," I told him.
"I shouldn't have,"
"I wanted you to," I relied and watched him smile lightly at me.
