Fuentes Girl

You're leaving me

We're all expecting my mum now. Dad's gone to pick her up. She's staying for the weekend, just not here. She's in a hotel not far away. Dad doesn't want her here, I know it. He's only dealing with it for my sake. Last week it annoyed me a little, but Mike got me to see it from Dad's point of view. He was in love with Mum and when she got pregnant instead of telling him and letting him support her she broke up with him and left the country. She still didn't tell him until I was fifteen.
Mike was sitting next to me on the couch flicking through channels. I nudged him and he turned to look at me. Mike nudged me back and I glared. "What's up, kid?" Mike asked.
"Is Dad going to tell her about Connor?" I asked anxiously.
"No, he won't,"
"I don't want her to know,"
"Why?" Mike frowned.
"Maybe she won't care,"
"Of course she'll care,"
"Can I tell you as story?"
"Sure," he nodded.
"When I was fifteen I went to a party. I took acid and tripped out. I thought I was going to die it was that bad. I tried phoning my mum but she never answered. I left her message telling her I was in trouble and where I was. She never came. I woke up the next morning in a cemetery. I wasn't just in a graveyard, I was in a fucking dug grave. Then I went home and asked Mum if she got my messages. She did but didn't call me back, she was seeing her boyfriend that night. While I was scared for my life, she was fucking Keith from accounts,"
"Shit," Mike breathed. "That happened?"
"Yeah," I sighed. "And she never cared. She never will," I muttered.
"Are you happy you came to live with Vic?"
"I am," I smiled. "I love my dad," I told him.
Then we heard the door knock. Mike sighed and got up. "Remember you're in control. Think about your techniques,"
"I know," I nodded. Mike opened the door and Dad walked inside. I smiled when I saw him and Mum followed him. She smiled widely when she saw me. She opened her arms and I went over. I hugged her and buried my face in her neck. "I've missed you," I told her.
"I missed you too, Effy," she told me. "Has Vic been kind to you,"
"Yeah," I laughed.
"Come and show me how you've destroyed your room," she urged.
"Okay," I nodded.
"Ef'? Dad asked.
"I'm okay," I smiled. I went upstairs with Mum following me. I went to my room and sat down on my bed.
"This is nice," she commented. "Bigger than the one back home,"
"I love it," I told her.
"Now, tell me what it's really been like," she urged and sat down next to me.
"Great. I love it her. I have good friends and I love Dad and the guys,"
"What guys?" she frowned.
"Dad's band," I explained.
"Effy, I need to tell you something," she sighed.
"Is that why you're here?"
"Yeah," she nodded.
"So you didn't come just to see me,"
"Effy, please," she muttered. "I'm living back home now. For good. I have a new job,"
"What are you saying?" I asked, looking down.
"I want you to come back home. I'm sorted again. We can go back to Birmingham and be happy together,"
"You're not serious," I laughed.
"I am. That's why I came," she explained. I stood up and shook my head.
"Mum, why are you doing this?" I asked desperately.
"What?" she asked confused.
"You kick me out of my house and my city, where I had friends and people that cared about me. Then you made me live with Dad. I didn't want to. But I did and now I love it here. It's my favourite place in the whole world. I love San Diego but I love Dad and Mike and my grandparents. Now you're taking it all away again," I rushed. I was crying again. I don't see how she can do this.
"Effy, Birmingham is your home,"
"It's not," I shook my head violently.
"You're coming back with me this weekend. It's decided. Now stop," she warned.
"I hate this," I spat. I glared and her and turned. I rushed out of my room and hurried downstairs. Dad was with Mike in the kitchen. They looked up and saw me crying.
"What's wrong?" Dad sighed.
"Do you know? Did she tell you?" I demanded and Dad silently nodded.
"Tell you what?" Mike asked.
"Don't make me," I begged.
"Vic?" Mike asked.
"Katie came to take Effy back. Katie wants to take her back to England," Dad explained.
"What?! She can't leave!" Mike exclaimed.
"Do you want me to go?" I asked seriously. "Am I that fucked up? Because I'm trying, I'm seeing the therapist. I didn't mean for Connor to do that, I'm sorry. I know you can't tour as much. I sorry, please," I rushed. I was sobbing.
"I don't want you to ever leave me," Dad replied. I went over to him and he wrapped his arms around me. "I want you here, Effy. I love you, of course I want you here. But if Katie wants you to go back I can't stop her,"
"I'm not going," I told him firmly.
"Effy," he sighed.
"I'm with her," Mike shrugged. "You want to handcuff yourself to a fence, I'll throw away the key," he added and Dad glared at him.
"I love you. Don't make me go back,"
"I'm sorry, Ef'. All I want is for you to be here with me. But I don't know if that can work,"
"Can't you claim custody? Hide me? Anything?" I begged.
"I don't know," Dad sighed deeply.
Then Mum walked into the kitchen. She looked at me with Dad and sighed. "She's coming with me," she told us.
"Like fuck she is," Mike laughed.
"Grow up," Mum told him.
"Bitch," he mumbled under his breath.
"I still have custody over you, Effy. That never changed," she explained. I looked down and so did Dad. He knew she was right, but I'll be fucked if I'm going back to Birmingham with her.

Notes

Hey! I loved writing this one so much! Who hates Effy's mum? I kind of do. Do you think Effy will go back? What can she even do not to go back? Who can help her? What will everyone do? Anyone upset by this? . . . I kind of am :)

I know it's horrible but shit like this happens. I know people who have lost trials when the truth was obvious. I even know someone who got arrested for GBH and didn't get charged because his girlfriend and her people told too many lies. Hopefully it's believable though because this stuff does happen... :(
