Maybe we're just having too much fun.
Chapter 11
I walk away from Jaime and towards our bus and I feel myself calm down. Thankfully i'm completely calm when I reach the metal door. I sigh before turning the knob and entering the space. I walk to the bunk alley and crouch down beside Sky's bunk. I quietly slide the curtain back and see her sleeping in a halfway fetal position. I smile before closing it.
I stand and walk back into the lounge room to see Jaime sitting on the long, black leather couch with his head in his hands. “I think I love her, Tony.” He sobs not looking up. I scoff at his words.
“If you want to be with that skank then do it. But please stop fucking up my best friend.” I say and walk past him briskly to the kitchen.
“Not Jess. I think I love Skylie. I really think so.” I hear him getting closer and I feel my anger begin to grow. “I don't know why I did what I did. I have no fucking clue.” He says and he walks in grabbing a bottle of whiskey off the counter. I rip the bottle from his hands.
“How could you Jaime?! You kissed another fucking girl! With her about 20 feet away! How the fuck?! Do you even care anymore?”
“Ok! I get that I shouldn't have done it but it's not like we ar- were dating or anything! She was just a friend! And so what if I like Jess? I'm not with anyone! Absolutely fucking no one! So just fuck off and mind you own goddamn business, Tone!” He shouted at me and I lost it. I slammed the bottle of whiskey on the edge of the counter and it shattered as I began to talk to him.
“Listen to yourself! Is that really the person you are? What if Sky were to hear you? Wh-” I say but get cut off by a soft voice coming from the small area in between the lounge room and kitchen.
“I did. But it's ok, I mean. He's right.” Skylie says trying to sound ok. “We weren't dating and I was just a friend to him. It's no big deal. Really Tone.” She says and begins to walk into the kitchen but Jaime stops her by putting his arm out.
“Don't, there's glass all over.” He says sounding emotionless. Skylie pushed his arm out of the way.
“It's nothing I don't deserve.” She says and I notice multiple emotions flash across Himes' face. She then comes up to me without even attempting to walk around the glass. I bring her into a hug, lifting her feet of the floor and placing her on the small counter. She brings her knees to her chest and I notice that Jaime has finally let his guard down and I see his true emotions appear on his face. I quickly pat his back before turning back to Sky.
“Can I stay in your bunk tonight?” She asks me and I nod. “Thanks, Tone.” She gives a small smile before hugging me.
“No problem but can you do one thing for me?” I murmur into her ear knowing that what i'm about to have her do is for the best.
“Anything.” She says and I smile widely. I lean close to her ear.
“Talk things out with Jaime. You two belong together.” I whisper and she pulls back with a pleading look in her eyes. I give her a look that says that i'm not going to give up and I walk back to bunks, leaving the two alone.
-Skylie's pov-
Tony walks out and I look down at my toes. I start picking at the polish and I feel a pair of teary eyes burning into my skull.
“ Sky.. I am so so sorry.” Jaime started. “I can't tell you why I did what I did but I can promise you that if you ever decide to give me a second chance then I can promise you that i'll never do it again. Ever.” He said and came across the small space, carefully avoiding the shattered glass on the floor.
“It's ok, Himes. I just want to know why...” I trail off as he hoists himself up onto the counter space beside me.
He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. “I just saw her and I didn't think. I remembered her from the time we went out for breakfast and I just. I don't know. She kissed me and I kissed back and I don't know why. I was the first to pull away then she asked me to be her boyfriend and I went to shake my head no but she looked so sad so I couldn't help but say yes. And I regret it. I regret it so fucking much. Because now I might lose the girl of my dreams because of a girl that means next to nothing to me. And that thought alone scares the fuck out of me.” He finished and I knew it was my turn to talk.
“It's ok. I promise. But can we just be friends for a while?” I ask and he pulls me in for a surprising and firm hug. I laugh before he pulls away. I then look down at the sandals on his feet and ask “Am I really the girl of your dreams?” He puts two fingers under my chin and forces me to look at him. Without saying a word he leans in and kisses me softly as if he thinks he'll break me. I kiss him harder and I feel him moan against my lips as he brings me to him. I straddle him as our kiss deepens. I feel him pull back for a short second to speak.
“Forever and always.” He murmurs and returns to kissing me. We kiss for about 3 more minutes before we're interrupted.
“Awh!!” I hear and slowly pull back to see Mike and Jessica standing at the doorway, both wearing huge smiles.
“Oh, um.” Jaime says obviously worried about the situation with Jess.
“It's fine Himes. Remember when I had you go after her?” He nods and I smile though i'm confused. “Well let's just say that it took you long enough.” She giggled so sweetly it made me feel self conscious.
“Aha, so it's ok that we're over?” He asked still being cautious.
“Of course! I have my eye on this guy who works at the café.” She smiled before continuing. “So I should get going. I'll see you guys around.” She gave one last small smile before exiting the bus leaving Jaime, Mike and I.
“Is Tony here?” Mike asked and I nod.
“He's in his bunk. Try not to be too loud.” I laugh. See, Mike was a huge crush on Tony to no one's surprise and Tony likes him back. And sometimes they do things. (They're both gay by the way and we all know)
“No promises.” He smirks before basically running to the bunks. I return my gaze to Jaime who I am still straddling just to see him already staring at me.
“So what are we?” I ask and he shrugs.
“We're close friends. Very close friends.” He says and nuzzles his nose against my collarbone after he sees a smile of my approval. He nuzzles his way to my face before kissing me gently and lovingly. I smile into the kiss and we soon pull away. “Now let's get your feet cleaned up.” He says and sets me down onto the counter space beside him. He hops off of the area and turns to a cabinet before blocking my view of his beautiful space with the door to the space. He closes it a moment later after grabbing a box that I assume is a first aid kit.
“You don't have to do this you know.” I smile as he crouches down in front of me. He opens the kit as he begins to speak.
“But I want to. I don't want you to get hurt anymore.” He says as he begins to take out the tiny pieces or glass out of my fragile foot.
“It's not your fault Himes...” I trail off and before I know it, all of the glass is taken out of my foot. I expect him to be done but instead he adds an antibiotic and a thin layer of gauze before wrapping each of them up. I think that he's finally done but i'm wrong again. I feel something pressed against my left foot and look down to see Jaime kissing the top of my foot before moving onto the other.
“What was that for?” I ask when he stands.
“Kisses make everything better. Now get on.” He says turning around and I obey, allowing him to give me a piggy back ride around the glass and he carries me until we reach the leather couch. He gently lets me off of his back before sitting beside me.
I begin to think of how well he took care of me and somehow come to the thought of kids. He would be amazing with kids. I mean kissing their boo-boos and giving them piggy back rides all the time. He'd be the best dad-.. I think but I'm cut off by Jaime's voice.
“Yeah, i'd be a pretty kick-ass dad, wouldn't I?” Jaime asked me and leaned back on the couch with a smile on his face before stretching his arms across the back of the couch and around me.
“I said all of that out loud?” I ask as I feel my face turn a deep shade of pink. He nods and laughs. I set my head in my hands and I stay like that until two familiar rough hands pull my hands away.
“Stop hiding that beautiful face of yours.” He says and I grin widely. I then hear a loud thud coming from the bunk area followed by a moan. I look at Himes and I can tell that he heard it too. “Sounds like they're having fun.” Jaime says and winks at me. I punch his arm playfully.
“So i'm not sleeping in Tone's bunk now.” I say simply.
“Well do you want to sleep in my bunk with me, or you want to share the couch?” He asks and I take a moment to think.
“Out here. I don't want to hear everything that's going on back there.” I laugh as does Jaime. He lays down behind me and I follow his lead allowing him to put his arms around my waist and pull me towards him. I smile and turn around to face him. “Goodnight, babe.” I whisper.
“Goodnight, beautiful” He replies and I blush but recover by pushing my lips against his in a goodnight kiss. I soon drift off into a sleep filled with dreams of my future of Jaime.
