"Mommy" Michelle said coming to sit on my lap

I smiled "Yes pumpkin."

"Do I have a daddy?" she asked

This is the question that I knew would come someday. A question that i dreaded dearly.

I laughed "Of course you do silly goose, everybody has a daddy."

I started to tickle her the stomach, I knew it was her weak spot. She fell into fits of laughter, rolling around in my lap.

"Stwap it mommy." she screamed and I stopped a few seconds later.

I got up to fix me a cup of coffee and Michelle followed me. She crawled up the stool and sat on it. She eagerly watched my every move.

"Where is he mommy?" she asked shyly

I looked at her confused "Where's who?"

she smiled "Where's daddy?? All my friends at school has there daddy, Why don't I have mine?"

My heart shattered. How am I suppose to explain to a two year old where her daddy is? How am I suppose to tell her that mommy left daddy when she found out she was pregnant? That she left him so she wouldn't ruin his career with a child. That her daddy name is Mike Fuentes and he has know idea that you even exist. How, Tell me how?

Michelle's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Mommy! Answer my qwuestion."

"Umm,I don't sweetie." I answered honestly
"Daddy dosen't care does he mommy?" she whispered

I watched as tears pricked my daughters eyes and crawled down her face. She grabbed her blanket and hugged it for dear life.

"Its my faught ain't it mommy. Daddy no love me"

"No, never" I cooed to her as tears fell from my eyes "It's mine, all mine."

My baby girl cried herself to sleep on my lap tonight. I picked her up and laid her down on her bed. just watching her sniffle in her sleep made my own waterworks come again.

I am the very thing i tried not to be. I stripped away the most valuable thing from michelle, a father. I stripped Mike of a relationship with his beautiul daughter. I'm just selfish.
