I groaned and rolled over. My head was buzzing and I slowly sat up. I blinked and pulled back my curtain. I saw Vic, Tony and Mike talking in the front lounge. I got up and slowly made my way over. “Morning,” Mike said cheerfully.
“How are you even able to speak?” I asked.
“Old Fuentes hangover remedy,”
“Please,” I begged. Mike got a glass for me and started to crumble up tablets into the glass. He added water and stirred it in. Then he got the bottle of chilli sauce from the fridge and added a few spoons. “Will it work?” I asked.
“It always works,” he reassured me. We walked over to the sofa and I took the glass with me. I started to drink and pulled a face. Mike moved closer to me and smiled softly.
“How you feeling?” Vic asked.
“Not good. I blame the stupid shot that Casey recommended,”
“You’ll be fine,” Tony told me.
“Thanks for last night,” I told Tony.
“What happened?” Mike asked.
“I just whined to him about how much I hate my job,” I shrugged.
“You remember that far? I can’t remember past the third round of shots at the club,” Mike explained.
“Really?” I asked softly.
“Yeah,” he nodded.
“Hey, where’s Jaime?” I finally asked looking around.
“Oh, he got lost last night,” Vic explained.
“Lost?” I echoed.
“When he gets drunk he normally ends up falling asleep. We think he wondered off before he lay down,” Tony said.
“Speak of the devil,” Mike said and held up his phone to show us Jaime was calling.
“Put him on loud speaker,” Vic said.
“Hey man,” Mike said.
“Erm . . . Mike?” Jaime asked.
“Yeah?”
“Is the bus still at the same place?”
“Yeah,” Mike laughed.
“How do I get there from main mall?”
“Why are you in the mall?” Vic asked.
“I just woke up in a fountain,”
“A fountain?” I asked.
“How did you not drown?” Tony asked.
“I don’t know. But I’ve just been escorted out and Mickey Mouse is looking at me weird,”
“Do you have your emergency money?” Vic asked.
“You mean the money I keep in my socks?”
“Yeah,” Vic replied.
“I have no shoes or socks,”
“Oh,” Tony laughed.
“We need to go! I have to punch Mickey in the face!” I exclaimed.
“I hope this is on the list and not just some killer instinct,” Mike said.
“We’ll be there soon,” Tony told Jaime and Mike hung up.
“I need to get dressed,” I said and hurried to my bunk. I grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom. I started to get ready and straightened myself up. My head was feeling better now.
“I’m calling a cab!” Vic called. I walked out and into the front lounge. I saw Vic waiting for me by the door. He opened the door for me and I walked out. There was a cab near and we got inside. Vic gave the cab driver directions and it pulled away. When we got to the mall car park we both got out. “Can you wait here?” Vic asked and the cab driver nodded.
“Come on,” I said and hurried over to Jaime. “Are you okay?” I asked him.
“Mickey is giving me verbal abuse,” he pouted.
“What?” Vic laughed.
“He told me I’d never get a job with my tattoos and I said that I have a job. I told him I’m in a touring band and he said that musicians can afford shoes,”
“Now I have a reason,” I grinned.
“What?” Jaime asked.
“Just get into the cab,” I urged. Then I ran quickly over to the man in the Mickey Mouse costume and stopped in front of him. I brought my fist back and then forward, punching him in the nose.
“Fuck,” the man swore.
“Hey!” a security guard called.
“Time to go,” I said when I reached Vic. He laughed and we filled quickly into the cab.
“Quickly! Go!” Vic called to the driver.
