There Is No Fighting This

“You really do look great” Vic smiled at Julie and admired her.

Vic loved that Julie kept her hair dark and short, it fit her personally a lot better he thought. He admired her shape too. She never had a large chest but always knew how to dress to make others think that she did. Her hips were wide but only made her look curvy and added to her sex appeal. Vic felt a smirk grow on his face. He remembered how good it felt to have Julie’s body near his - to have her pressed up against him.

“Come here” Vic’s voice was low and he spoke slowly. “You look way to good to be standing there alone”

As Julie walked toward Vic he watched her hips sway. He admired the way they raised and fell with every step she took. His eyes grew dark with lust and Vic couldn’t help but feel that he needed to have Julie in a way he never had before. Julie silently walked across the room and sat on Vic’s lap, facing him wrapping her legs around his hips. Vic stared up at Julie, lust still in his eyes and his heart still racing.

“So are you going to kiss me or just look at me” Julie smiled and pressed her lips into Vic’s in a hungry kiss. Julie felt Vic’s hands on her legs, rubbing her thighs.

"I know we haven't had that talk yet, but I want you to know that you mean a lot to me" Vic's spoke as he pulled away from Julie. As he spoke he looked right in her eyes, he wanted her to know that he was serious; that he really did feel this way about her.

Julie looked at Vic with a smile on her lips. She was so nervous yet very excited to be here right now with Vic. She was in love with him and despite her best efforts, she couldn't deny that any longer.

" I know Vic" Julie's voice was sweet. "I've been trying for so long to push away these feelings but its not working,” she giggled. "You mean the world to me"

Nothing more happened in that first night. Julie and Vic didn't want to leave each other that night but Julie had a recital to attend and Vic had a family dinner.

"No more fighting our feelings okay?" As Vic held Julie tightly to his body he meant the words he said. No longer would he try to stop his mind from thinking about her. No longer would he deny that his heart felt like it was on fire when she was near.

"No more fighting" Julie replied as she stood on the balls of her feet and kissed Vic more passionately than any time before.

“So, um…Julie?” Vic stood up after the interview was over. “The guys and I are in town for a bit and I wanted to know of you knew of any good places to grab dinner or a drink." Vic looked down as he spoke, too embarrassed to look at Julie.

"It's been 6 years and you are still terrible at asking girls out" Julie laughed and raised Vic's head with her fingers. "I would love to show you guys around" she smiled at the rest of the band. All the eyes in the room were on her and Vic.

"Is tonight okay?" Vic asked with a wide smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.

"Of course!" Julie was excited and it was evident in her voice. "I'll invite my friend Faith"

" Oh..." Vic's voice had a hint of both confusion and disappointment. "You still talk to Faith?"

"She's my best friend, of course I do"

"Sounds like fun!" Jaime said as he walked past Julie and Vic. "Give Vic your address and we'll be by to pick you and your friend up at around 8"

Julie was taken back by how happy and egger Jaime sounded but she didn't say anything, she was just happy to be seeing Vic again.

"We'll see you later Julie" Tony said, smiling, as he walked out of the room

Julie grabbed her notepad and wrote down her address for Vic. "I'll see you in a few hours" she smiled and handed him the paper.

"See you later" Vic pulled Julie in and held her tightly. "You're still my favourite explosion,” he whispered in her ear. Vic lips lightly brushed against her ear as he spoke, sending goose bumps all over Julie's body.

--------

Once Julie was in her car alone, she tried to calm herself down. Seeing Vic was one thing but laughing with him and touching him made Julie's emotions all blur together. She was confused as to how she felt about Vic. Seeing him made her happy, happier than she has been in years. She never would have guessed that it would be so easy for them to connect again.

She sat on her hands and closed her eyes, something her therapist taught her to do when she needed to clear her head. She took a deep breath and counted 1-2-3. She held it for 3 seconds more and controlled her exhale, 1-2-3. Julie did this 4 times, until her heart rate was back to normal and she no longer felt a sense of urgency. She dug her hand into her purse and grabbed her phone.

"Faith," she spoke right after the ringing stopped. "Get ready, we're going out with the boys of the band I interviewed today"

"Oh? Why?" Faith was confused as to why Julie agreed to go out with theses guys.

"You'll see. Just get ready. Look nice"

"Where are we going?"

Julie smiled to herself. If the boys wanted to know a good place to grab drinks, Julie would show them just that. "The Austin"

"Ouu, now I'm excited" Faith laughed on the other line. "You're coming home now?"

"Gotta grab something first and I'll be right over. See you later"

Julie hung up the phone and put her car in drive - a smile on her face the whole time.

-------

The doors chimes once Julie pushed them open. The familiar smell of dust and smoke hit her instantly and she loved it.

"Julie, my love, where have you been?" The man behind the cashier's desk exclaimed and ran up to Julie to hug her.

"Patty! I've missed you bud" Julie replied hugging him back.

"What brings you in today?” Patty said walking with Julie over to the cash desk.

"Can't a girl come in and see her favourite music junky?" Julie laughed and looked at the new poster behind Patty.

PIERCE THE VEIL. The poster looked like it might be an album cover. Julie thought that it must have been because she couldn’t find the connection between the boys and a young boy and girl holding a candle.

"Of course you can, but you never do" he smirked.

Julie had been coming to this record store ever since she moved to San Fran. She had grown the love the store; it was her escape. She loved the old carpet floor and how it never seemed to actually look red like Patty claimed it was; the broken window that a kid smashed back in 1984 and the faint smell of weed that always lingered in the air. After a few weeks of coming her every week Julie and Patty (who owned the store) started to build a friendship. Julie knew the other 3 employees that worked here too but none of them were as great as Patty.

"Them!" Julie yelled, startling Patty, and pointing at the poster of what looked like an album cover. " I'm here for that band"

"Ahh, good choice" Patty winked and walked her over to the small, yet great, Post-Hardcore section of the shop. "They only have one album out" he said as he handed her the album.

" A Flair for the Dramatic? " Julie gave Patty a questioning look. "This wasn't the album I interviewed them on. The poster behind your desk was.”

"Second album, out in a couple months" Patty smiled and lead Julie back to the cash. "You'll like these guys, great music"

"I'll be the judge of that"

As Julie paid for the CD she kept looking at the poster advertising for Selfish Machines. She wondered why her boss never gave her any information on or specific questions on their first album. She thanked Patty for his help and kissed his cheek as she left.

Once in the car she put the CD in and sat there listening to the first song start.

“Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides” She whispered to herself, reading the song titles off the back of the CD case.

She hated to admit that she was already in love with their sound just one song in. She wondered of she loved their music or just the sound of Vic's voice singing in her ear. She closed her eyes and listened to his voice. She listened the way he sang so effortlessly and with so much emotion. A smile crept onto her face and she just sat in her car listening to the rest of the song. Once the song was done she cursed herself for loving it so much. Music and dance was always the way into her heart. Now her heart was opening again for someone she promised herself she would never love again.

"No more fighting,” she said right before starting the car and finally making her way home.
