Love Like A Tidal Wave

Caraphernelia

Kaylee’s P.O.V.

It’s so hot and humid. I feel like I’ve lost 20 pounds from all the sweat. I love where I work. I really do, but on days like these and cold winter days, it’s horrible. I work at this stadium where bands and other artists perform when they’re near Chicago. My sister, brother and I got this job through our uncle. It’s pretty cool most the time. I get to see so many people perform. What other job could be better than this?

“Kayls!” my sister yelled from behind the gate.

“What’s wrong now Kelsie?”

“We have to finish setting up.”

“I’m coming.” I put my cigarette out and follow far behind her. A big band is coming and we need to get everything ready for all the fans. After just a few hours, everything was set up perfectly. It’s almost time to open the gates. The crowd is formed, completely wrapping around the block. Everyone goes to their stations and gates open. I work with the all the sound that goes on during the concert. Thank God for that. I couldn't handle being down by all the fans. Too many people. I get into my booth and right then my brother, Konnor, gave me the cue to turn the mics on.. Screams filled the theater as Vic Fuetnes from Pierce the Veil walked on stage.

“Hey guys! Thanks for coming! We’re so happy that everyone could be here to cheer us on and support us. We love you guys.” Vic said.

They started with “Caraphernelia”.It’s one of my favorite songs. There's so much emotion in the entire song. You can actually feel the pain and agony through every lyric. The whole concert was basically Heaven to be honest. I've never been able to see them before and even though I could barely watch, I still was able to enjoy them. They ended with “Hold On Till May” which was just flawless. I could barely concentrate as they performed this song. "Hold On Till May" was that one song that got me through a lot over the past year. Right after they leave stage, everyone who doesn’t have meet and greet passes leaves and Pierce The Veil went to a table set up outside the theater while fans line up. Konnor, Kelsie, and I however, we’re cleaning up from everyone.

“Soooo how bad were you fangirling up there?” Kelsie teased.

“Ugh not that much okay? However, it was amazing to be up there and getting to see them.”

“There’s a shock. I thought for sure you’d screw something up from being so happy to see them.” Kelsie kept teasing. She doesn’t really get my love for bands. Kelsie's always been more into the pop and rap scene.

“You’re just mad cause you haven’t seen your favorite people in concert yet.” Konnor retorted. It was kind of surprising for him to jump in. He doesn’t really talk too much. He kinda keeps to himself after some stuff went down. He usually only talks when he's being protective. I can’t help laughing at what he said though. We’re triplets but I think Kelsie was kicked in the head by one of us or something. Konnor and I are a lot alike. Kelsie however, is the total opposite.

“We should go out tonight.” Kelsie changed subject.

“And do what?” I said.

“I don’t know. There’s this new club down the street that just opened. We could go there. You don’t have to be 21 to get in or anything.”

“Ugh fine.” I really don’t feel like arguing with her. I’ll end going no matter what. Might as well save my breath. I'm not exactly a people person. I prefer just be at home and be by myself.

We go home and change. I don’t care where the we’re going. I’m gonna stick to my t-shirts, skinny jeans, and vans. I throw on together an outfit and let Kelsie know I'm ready. Konnor, Kelsie, and I pile into my car and head off to the club. We get to the club and Kelsie’s all pissed off because “I look like I just rolled out of bed”. I don’t really care what I look like especially since I don't want to be here until I noticed a guy sitting in the corner.

"You ready for the show tonight man?" Mike asked as we're sitting outside the bus.

"Yeah. I've always been a fan of Chicago crowds." I laugh a little. Chicago crowds are always so rowdy and energetic. It helps keep us pumped.

"We should probably head to the stage guys." Tony says as he walks off the bus. Tony leads the way with Mike, Jaime and I following close behind. We get backstage and do our chant. I lead the way on stage while the rest of band mates follow and take their positions. I look up and there's a little booth toward the ceiling. I can see a girl and I can't help but stare. She's the definition of beautiful. Luckily, I was able to snap myself out of it before it became too obvious that I was blocking the crowd out.

“Hey guys! Thanks for coming! We’re so happy that everyone could be here to cheer us on and support us. We love you guys." I said, glancing over the crowd. We started with "Caraphernelia", one of favorites to play. The crowd is usually the most pumped when I play it.

This was one of the best shows we’ve had. All the fans were so excited. They were rowdy and sang every word as loud as they could. It was pretty awesome and they were all so nice. I can’t even count how many people were at the meet and greet and cried. It always makes me feel good when fans cry because of the music. It shows how much they love and care about the music that we play. I saw this girl though. She worked at the theater. There was something about her. I don’t know, she just caught my eye but after the meet greet, I tried to find her and had no luck.

“Hey, what do ya say about going to this club down the street? Come on!” Mike asked as we got into the bus to drive to the hotel.

“Yeah sure, I guess.” I said.. I haven't been feeling up to going out with them over the past few months. I'd rather just have the time to myself but something was telling me to just go ahead and go with them. Our manager lets us borrow his car and we all pile in.

We get to the club and sit in the back corner on the chance that someone will recognize us. I look over at the bar and I see the girl from the theater. She was looking at me but turned away as soon I looked at her. I must have been staring because Mike elbowed my arm to get my attention.

“You okay?” Mike asked.

“Yeah, sorry what were you saying?”

“Who were you staring at?” He laughed

“No one…” I blushed a little giving it away.

“Just go talk to her.”

“No. She’ll probably recognize me and I don’t want that.”

“Fine. Who is she? I’ll go talk to her and if she doesn’t know who I am, you’re going to talk to her. You were like completely out of it.”

“The girl at the bar. In the vans and skinny jeans. Don’t do anything stupid or embarrass me. I’ll kill you.” Mike gets up and walks to the bar. I don’t look after he gets there. I just start a conversation with the rest of the guys.

“Is he still looking at me?” Kelsie turns around to look.

“Yeah. He’s been staring at you for like five minutes now.” She laughed.

“This is kinda weird…” I laughed back when all of a sudden I get a tap on my shoulder.

“Hey.” Mike said. Mike is talking to me. Someone should really clue me in on what the hell is going on.

“Hey.” I smiled lightly.

“What’s going on?”

“Nothing really you?” I can’t believe how calm I am. I know how annoying fangirls are so I’m trying to stay calm.

“Eh ya know nothing much. So I saw you looking at my brother over there." Mike turns to point at Vic who was laughing at Jaime.

"Um....I...um...yeah, a little." I felt cheeks go red.

"He was staring at her too though." Kelsie butted her nose in.

"Oh I know. That's why I came over here. He's too big of a whimp to just walk over here himself. Is it cool if he comes to talk to you?" Mike flashes a slight smile.

“Yeah…since he’s been staring, I guess he can.” I smiled

“I’ll send him over then.” He walked back to their table in the back of the room.

“I’m seriously dreaming.” I said to Kelsie and Konnor.

“Don’t give your hopes up. He’s not gonna go for you when he finds out how old you are so don’t bother.” Konnor said. He’s always been bitter about any guy wanting to talk to me since my last boyfriend a year ago. He’s just trying to be that protective brother. I usually just ignore him when he says stuff like that.

“You better get all your fangirling over with cause he’s coming now.” Kelsie giggles and I turn beat red.
