Ba- dump, thump. Ba-dump, thump.


My heart was beating unevenly as words fell out of his mouth.

“Uh, yeah. Do you guys have anything on Pantera?”

“Y-yeah, let me check.” I said as my shaking fingers looked through the box of CD’s. “Right now, all we have is the album Cowboys From Hell. Is that fine?” I asked as my clammy hands gripped the case.

He nodded. “Yep, exactly what I was looking for,” he said as he took the CD away from me. “I’m Vic by the way.”

I smiled nervously, “Nicole.”

He stiffened up for a second and once again, I felt my heart race to a stop. Does he recognize me? Or does he think I’m just another Nicole in the world? Vic hasn’t really changed at all. He had longer hair now; it came down to his shoulders. And the tank he was wearing today showed off his arms, and you could definitely see some muscle.

“Hey time’s up. You can leave now.” My co-worker, Taylor told me.

I nodded. “Thanks, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Same with you!” He yelled as I exited the record store and made my way home.

I plugged my headphones into my ears and hurried down the street. Hoping to block out all the sirens, gunshots and the yelling. I hope I don’t see him again. I hope I don’t see Mike again either. He was quite mad at me too.

“You killed him! You killed Jake and now because of you, Vic’s sad and always crying.” Mike yelled at me.

He wrapped his arms around Vic and they held each other close while Mike glared at me with his cold, dark eyes.

“Are you happy now?” He snapped. “Jake’s gone and Vic’s sad.” Mike’s voice got quieter as he watched his older brother sob. “And now, I’m sad too.”

Notes

Just want to let you know that in the flashbacks, Mike and Vic were only 7 and 8. So yeah. And sorry for the shortness I'm trying to get it to be longerrrrrr.
