What we want can never be done
I heard the sound of beeping. I felt warmth on my hand and I noticed someone was holding it. I opened to my eyes to see Jaime holding my hand crying. I've never seen him cry, never. I squeezed his hand and he looked at ms.
"Carita. You're awake!" he hugged me. Right after that a nurse walked in.
"oh you are awake. That's good. If you didn't wake up soon we would have had to put you on medication. But we don't have to." she said.
"okay...am I gonna be ok?" I asked.
"yes your friend Victor did a good job at stiching it. We left them in and bandaged your wrist. You should keep it bandaged for 2 weeks and the stiches will be gone by then." she replied. "you'll be able to go in 30 minutes." The nurse walked out of the room.
I looked at Jaime. "how long was I out for?"
"almost 2 hours." he said.
"woh!" I exclaimed.
"and the nurse said you'll have a big scar there."
"great." I said sarcastically.
"Cari..." he began. That was the nickname he gave me when I first met him 5 years ago.
"yeah." I looked at him. He looked worried.
"after they bandaged your wrist the nurse told me you had scars all over BOTH wrists. Do you have a self-harming addiction?" Jaime asked softly.
"y-yeah. I d-do." I cried.
"aw. Please stop hurting yourself." he kissed the scars on my skin."even though you have selfharm scars, I still think your beautiful. And I don't ever wanna loose my best friend."
"aw Jaime." he held onto my hand and just sat there with me. The 30 minutes passed quickly and the nurse came back in saying I could go. Jaime walked me out to the waiting room. I saw Vic, Tony and Mike all waiting.
"hi." I croaked out.
"Clarita!" they all said. They came over to me and hugged me. "I'm glad your okay" Vic said.
"don't do it again." Mike said.
"we would miss you if you ever left..." Tony added.
"I will try not to guys." I promised them.
We got into the RV and Vic drove us away from the hospital. I was on the couch with Jaime.
"we might as well head to our Chicago show." Mike said to Vic.
"ok." Vic yelled to us, "GUYS! We're just gonna head to out Chicago gig!"
We all said "ok." Mike went to snacking on chips and Tony started to watch a StarWars movie. I was laying next to Jaime. I rested my head on his lap and he stroked my hair. My eyes got droopy and I started to fall asleep. The last thing I heard was a whisper from Jaime; "Have a good nap, my beautiful Carita.
