Celebration of An Ending - Part I

Mike’s P.O.V
“That’s it!” Drew said, looking up from her textbook. “We could throw you a party!”

My birthday was only a short two weeks away, but I had been slacking on celebration planning. “Are you gonna organize this party? ‘Cause I’m not gonna do it,” I said, half jokingly, half seriously as I plopped down onto the bed next to her, wrapping one arm around her waist and kissing her lips. This was the first birthday I’ve had in a while when I wasn’t on tour, so planning a celebration for it was almost unnatural. But neither of us had really partied since before we met Ashley, and before everything in our lives sort of changed.

So maybe this party was needed, after all.

“Baby,” she said, giggling at the contact of my lips on hers. “I’ve got my semester final in a week. By then, you’ll birthday will already have passed. I don’t have time to plan a party. Plus, I don’t know any of your friends!”

I turned my head to the side to think, but kept my arm around her waist. “Then make it a Christmas party, but order a birthday cake. It’ll be kind of like a belated-birthday party.”

“I still don’t know how I’m gonna invite a bunch of people I don’t know,” she tapped her pencil against the textbook thoughtfully. “And I haven’t planned an adult’s party since…never. And I’m twenty-six!”

I laughed at her comment. “There’s not much to it, really. Just have lots of alcohol and loud music. That’s it, really. Oh, and make sure there’s a table nearby. We’re gonna want to play a whole lot of beer pong.” I scanned her face with my eyes, and smiled, seeing that she looked to be taking everything I said in. I then reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. “Here,” I said, tossing it onto the bed in front of her. “Go to my contacts, and invite anyone who looks semi-important. I really don’t care, as long as I get turnt!” I stood up and did a little dance, earning a few loud laughs from Drew.

“Don’t ever say ‘turnt’ again,” she laughed out.

I ignored her laughs and jumped on top of her, tickling her and attacking her with kisses.

Dylan’s P.O.V

“Have a nice day,” I said to the young man I was escorting out of the tattoo shop. He’d come by about an hour earlier for a relatively simple piece on his wrist. The shy boy muttered a ‘thank you’ as I held the door open for him. I walked out behind him, but when he went to his car, I stood next to the parlor entrance and pulled out a cigarette and my lighter. I usually stuck to weed whenever I needed to smoke, but I’d run out a few days before, and I kept forgetting to call Mike and tell him I needed more.

“You know that’s really bad for you,” I heard a familiar voice say to me from over my shoulder.

I turned to see Jaime leaning against the brick wall next to me. I let out the smoke through my mouth, being sure to turn my head to block the smoke from blowing right into his face. “I ran out of weed. What are you doing here?”

“I’m gonna have to take a rain check on tonight. So I was hoping I could take you to lunch instead?”

“Why? Do you have a date tonight or something?” I chuckled, throwing my cigarette down and stomping it into the ground.

“Maybe…” Jaime said in a sing-songy voice.

I felt my lips curl into a wide grin. “Really? What’s her name?” Jaime had been single the whole time I’d known him, so I was fairly excited for him.

“Dylan, chill. I said maybe. Which could also mean I don’t have a date tonight.”

I crossed my arms. “Jaime, do you or do you not have a date tonight?”

He laughed out loud before speaking. “Nah, I don’t. These girls just don’t know how to hang.”
I chuckled at my best friend’s words. He was so silly. “Okay, so why are you cancelling on me then?”

“When I was still at the house, Drew told me she wants to throw a double-celebration party, half for Mike’s birthday, and half for Christmas. She wants to start planning tonight, so she asked me to help her.”

“She has finals in a week. Why is she planning a party?”

“You know she’s never planned an adult party. She’s excited! Cut the girl some slack.” I rolled my eyes in mock annoyance. “So…lunch?”

“I dunno, Jaime. You just lied to me.” I said, jokingly.

“I said ‘maybe.’ You blew it out of proportion!”

“I was kidding. And yes, we can go have lunch.” I sent Darren a quick text telling him that I was taking my break, then I zipped up my thick hoodie before Jaime and I made our way to his car.

Notes

This chapter would've been quite a bit longer, but I decided to split it into at least two parts, because I don't know how long it's gonna take me to finish the whole thing, and I wanted to give y'all something. So, I'm sorry if this is kind of shitty, but expect more soon!
