I Saw The Moon Divorce The Sky

Chapter Six

It will soon be time for this years Warped Tour and before Anonymous… rehearse their set Erica and Zac had been thinking more about Jaime’s idea and have decided on releasing a single together. They’re currently writing it, it will an Anonymous song with Zac featuring on it and they’re going to release it just before Warped.

“I really like that” Chad said as he walked into the studio after Zac and Erica had finished singing through the song.

“Good” Zac replied.

“I agree with Chad that sounds sick. Now we just have to put down some music and we have a great track” Zeke said with a smile.

“Well you boys better crack on with it then” Erica joked.

Since Anonymous were going to be doing acoustic shows at Warped this year, Erica and Zac decided to play the song during those. His band will be on the tour but because Erica will be working on the Mike Fuentes Music Program throughout the summer so they decided to just keep it for the acoustic sets.

The night before Erica was set to go off for Warped Tour she and Vic decided to go out for dinner; they hadn’t spent much time together lately. Vic was going to be on the tour for the Music Program but these two still wanted to hang out together before they go.

“You know Mike wouldn’t be mad or anything” Vic said after taking a sip of his beer.

“Be mad about what?” Erica asked confused.

“If you moved on, found someone else” Vic said with a small smile.

“Why would you bring that up?” Erica asked, she hadn’t even been thinking about anyone like that at all.

“He’d be totally okay with it. Especially since it’s one of his best friends, he’d know that you’re being taken care of”

“Vic seriously, what are you on about?” Erica just wanted to get to the bottom of Vic’s openness.

“E, how do you not see it?” Vic questioned.

“See what? Vic, you’re confusing me” Erica replied.

“Look, it’s so clear that you and Jaime have bonded in a new way since Mike and Jess. I’m just saying I would be okay with it, so would Tony and so would Mike. Hell my parents would even be okay with it” Vic smiled at her but Erica only frowned.

“Vic, Jaime and me are best friends we got closer yes but I’m not about to start dating my best friend” Erica stated, sounding a bit annoyed.

“I’m just saying E. You might not want to now but in the future you might. You can’t stay single forever, that would be torturing yourself and you know it” Vic finished.

“Can we just change the subject now please?” Erica giggled a little and Vic started to talk about the food they were eating.

The rest of the night topic of conversation steered clear of Erica beginning to date again but she couldn’t deny that what Vic had said was floating around her mind. Did Jaime really like her more than best friends? Did she like him more? She couldn’t tell. When she got home she sat in the lounge watching television but not really watching it. Her mind kept going back to the things Vic was saying. Erica ended up crying because she could never imagine herself with another person; she loved Mike too much. Yes she would probably find someone in the future but the incident was too fresh for her to think about something like that. It’s only been 5 months since Mike’s death and she just couldn’t picture another relationship just yet.

Today was the first Music Program session on Warped Tour and the turnout was pretty awesome. Vic and Erica have talked to many of the bands on the tour and throughout the day musicians will come and go. They will be having 90 minute sessions with 60 kids at a time. The band members will teach them at beginner level in an attempt to start off their musical lessons/career.

“Okay, thanks guys for coming out. You guys were awesome I want to see you headlining this tour in the next 5-10 years” Vic said as the current ‘students’ were packing up. They came across the odd fan girl that just wanted to attend to hang out with band members but the majority of people that signed up genuinely wanted to learn an instrument. Some of them could barely afford their Warped ticket so an opportunity like this was truly golden; it was those kinds of kids that this whole thing was mainly aimed at.

“That went really well; I think this is going to be a lot more fun than I first thought” Erica beamed and gave Vic a hug.

“I agree, I didn’t think it would be as organised or anything. I can’t wait to just do this all the time. I might just do this forever now” Vic thought over his words. They had a ten minute break between sessions so the pair began chatting.

“Do you think you’ll ever do music again? Like be in a band. I know Jaime is thinking about his solo stuff; he doesn’t say he is but I know it. He’s thinking about doing more of his producing though, and Tony has Key Street what about you?” Erica questioned her brother-in-law; Vic was the only one who didn’t really have anything set in stone just yet.

“Maybe I will just do this. I can’t see me being in another band and I doubt the others could either. This is fun and it helps people and still inspires people and that’s what I want; so maybe taking this on full time could be my thing. I mean I have to have a job close to home now anyway” Vic suddenly smiled really wide.

“What do you mean?” Erica pushed.

“Well you know, with Emily being pregnant and all I’m gonna have to be around and be a good dad” Vic said as if it was nothing.

“What? Congratulations dude. How long have you known?” Erica pulled Vic into another hug and kissed him on the cheek.

“We went to the doctors just before tour started and it turns out she’s two months along. I’m so excited but really nervous at the same time” Vic admitted.

“Dude, that is totally normal. Remember how much Tony freaked out when Isla told him? He was a mess, now look at him. You’ll be amazing. I’m so proud of you” Erica gave him another hug.

“Don’t you have a signing soon?” Vic reminded her.

“Oh shit yeah, what’s the time?” Erica asked hurriedly.

“Quarter to one” He answered.

“Good I have fifteen minutes. I’ll be back afterwards okay” The kissed each other on the cheek “Love you, bye” She called as she ran out of the back of the tent, just as the next session was about to start.

Erica ran as fast as her little legs would carry her and got to the signing tent on time.
“Sorry I was talking to Vic and didn’t realise the time” Erica managed to get out while catching her breath.

“E, it’s okay; you’re not late or anything.” Chad said as he passed her a bottle of water.

“Thank you. I want to tell you Vic’s news but I don’t know if I’m allowed to” Erica sighed.

“What that Emily’s pregnant? He told us this morning” Zeke admitted.

“And I only just found out, that’s not fair.” Erica huffed.

“Dude you had an interview first thing, he wanted to tell you and we kind of squeezed it out of him” Chad told her.

“Oh fair enough. I’m so happy for him” She smiled at the twins.

“Same” They said in unison. The three of them laughed and fans began to be let in the tent.

The signing was in its last couple of minutes and there were about 10 people left.

“Hello, how are you?” Erica asked cheerily to the girl who was stood opposite her.

“Okay, thank you. How are you?” She replied nervously, she was about 16 and was so pretty but Erica could sense sadness about her.

“I’m doing really well today thanks, who am I signing this out to?” She pointed to the poster that the girl had handed her.

“Hannah, my name’s Hannah” She replied and Erica wrote down her name.

“Here you go Hannah, have a lovely day beautiful” Erica said and the girl smiled.

“Before I go, can I give you this?” She held up an envelope with Erica’s name on it.

“Of course sweetie, I promise I’ll read it later” She smiled, stood up and hugged the girl
before taking the envelope and starting a conversation with the next fan in line.

The last couple of people were just the same, pretty much; got something signed and went along the table to the twins after a hug from Erica. She hadn’t received many letters today; she had got a few gifts but not many letters. That makes it easier when it comes to reading them because there won’t be as many as usual.

After the signing all three members of Anonymous, Is That Greek went over to the MFMP tent and joined Vic. They got there just as one group of kids were leaving which gave them ten more minutes until the next group.

“I can’t believe you told these losers first” Erica said towards Vic as she sat her bag down.

“You had left the bus and they bullied it out of me” Vic said with a sorry smile.

“Your stories match, I’ll let you off” She joked and walked over to Derek Sanders who was currently in the tent.

“Hey Derek, how was it?” She asked referring to the group of kids.

“It was a lot of fun, they’re all so willing to learn and it’s beautiful. I think it’s great what you guys are doing with this, Mike would be proud” Derek hugged Erica and when they parted she smiled warmly at him.

“I’m sure he would have rather had a type of weed named after him but this is still pretty great” She joked and gave him a little wave as he walked over to Vic to say bye.

They spent the next couple of hours doing a few more sessions before packing up and going to get some dinner. Once dinner was over the foursome went back to the bus; Vic was sharing with the band, none of them could think of any reason why he shouldn’t. Once there Vic got a text from someone who was having a barbeque a few buses down.

“Do you guys want to come with?” Vic asked them all.

“We will” The twins said, in unison once again.

“I’m just going stay in tonight. Might finish my book and watch a film, you guys go and have fun though” They all nodded and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek before heading out.
It was only a few buses down so if Erica changed her mind she’d be able to find it easy enough. Instead of starting to finish her book Erica decided she would read through some of the letters she received earlier on at the signing.

She read through 3 letters and was already in tears; some of the things these people go through broke her heart. Erica had been through many traumatic things in her life and could empathise with most of them. She picked up the fourth letter and recognised it straight away; it was the one Hannah gave her. She could tell it was because it was a purple envelope and had her name written in the most beautiful handwriting.

Erica got up to refill her coffee cup; adding in a few shots of whiskey before sitting back in the booth and opening the letter.

Dear Erica,

I just wanted to start off by saying I am a huge fan. You and the twins make amazing music and no matter what mood I am in I know I can put on your records and I will feel amazing, about myself, about life, about everything so thank you for that.

I would also like to tell you why I wrote this letter to you and the not the whole band. I am a huge Pierce the Veil fan and Mike Fuentes was, no still is my inspiration. I was luckily enough to meet him on a few occasions, I would go to as many PTV shows as I could. Mike was always my favourite and after a while they began to recognise me.

Mike once saw the cuts on my wrist and told me to stop, but he wasn’t one of those people that say ‘you shouldn’t do that’ and leave it at that. He actually helped me through it. He followed me on twitter once and would occasionally ask me if I was okay. If he saw a negative tweet he would message me something to cheer me up.

I found solace in him, he really helped me and I eventually found the strength to tell my family and they got me the help I needed.

When I told Mike this he was so happy for me and promised me that at their next show he would let me watch from side of stage because I had kept my promise to him. This actually happened and I have the pictures from that night all over my wall. It was the last time I ever saw Mike and the rest of Pierce the Veil perform and will sadly be the last time I ever get to.
But I wanted to write this letter to let you know that you had an amazing husband. He cared about music and helping people and when I heard about the charity that you and Vic put together I knew he would be happy about it. I know that sounds weird because I didn’t know him as a friend really but I know he would love this. I also printed out a few screen shots from conversations where he would mention how much he loves you and how without you he would be nothing.

They really warmed my heart and made me believe that there was someone out there for me and I hope to meet them. I hope to meet the person that makes me feel how you made Mike feel.

I love you and your band and you have helped me so much but I thought I should also let you know how wonderful Mike was (not that you needed anyone to tell you that)

I can’t wait to see you guys again soon. I hope you have fun on tour.

I love you all (please let the twins know I love them too)

Hannah xx

Before Erica could even put the letter down her tears were flowing. But they weren’t sad tears; they were happy tears. Yes this letter makes her miss Mike but it also makes her know that his memory isn’t dead and never will be. Mike saved that girls life and Erica could relate to that. Mike made that girl happy and Erica could relate to that too. She began to smile and the tears stopped.

“Damn Mike, you make me cry too much” She said aloud and kissed Mike's wedding ring. She had that and his promise ring on a chain that she wore around her neck at all times. Erica still wore her promise ring too, it was on her right hand now. She looked through the screen shots of tweets that Hannah had mentioned and they made her smile even more. He really did love her.

Erica didn’t want to be sad tonight and it was still fairly early so she decided to Skype with Jaime. He picked up after a couple of rings.

“Hey pumpkin” the spikey haired Mexican greeted her with their nickname.

“Hey you” She wiped her face to rid the aftermath of the tears.

“E, have you been crying again?” He said with a joking tone.

“Yes” She nodded and spoke again “But these were happy tears, I got a letter from a fan and she told me that Mike had saved her life and it made me happy” She admitted.

“Okay, I’ll let you off. How was the music program today?” He enquired.

“It was so good, so many people came out and so many band members are helping out and others want to be a part of it sometime this summer” She smiled from ear to ear.

“I told you it was a good thing. I can’t wait for after the summer when I can be a part of it” Jaime confessed.

“I thought you and Tony were helping out at the Cali dates?” Erica asked

“Oh yeah, I totally forgot. The kids can’t wait to come and stay on the bus for that week” Jaime told her and Erica’s smile grew even further.

“I can’t wait to see them. How are the little cherubs?” She chuckled along with Jaime.

“They miss Auntie Erica but other than that they’re fine. Jess is taking them for a couple of days next week” Jaime’s smile dropped.

“Don’t do that Himes. Don’t be sad when you say her name, remember the fun you had and smile at those memories. That’s what you told me to do with Mike right? Don’t be sad that he’s gone but be happy for the time you got to spend with him. Those were your exact words” Erica said sternly.

“I know, I know. I am happy, I am. It still sucks that she has this Joseph guy though. But as long as he makes her happy and he isn’t a dick to my children then I am happy and I will start to look to the future” He said more cheerily.

“That’s the spirit” Erica said putting her fist in the air.

The pair laughed and spent another 20 minutes talking about rubbish before Jaime let Erica go. She decided she would in fact go to the barbeque. She couldn’t deny that the
conversation she had with Vic before the tour was starting to swirl around her head once again.

She knows that she finds Jaime attractive but she had never really been attracted to him; she only ever had eyes for Mike. But was she developing feelings for Jaime? Erica shook the thoughts from her mind as she pulled on a Pierce the Veil hoodie and rang Vic to locate him as she got off the bus.

She met up with Vic and the twins and spent the rest of the night partying with a few other bands on the tour, letting all thoughts of Jaime being more than a best friend slip from her mind.

They ended up being out till really late, almost missing bus call. When they got back on their bus they practically passed out after stepping over the threshold. Somehow they each managed to get to their bunks; despite their drunken states and slept until they reached the next venue and repeated all of today’s actions; minus the letter about Mike.
