Doesn't Really Matter

Five - Suspicions

Mike kicked Jaime in the head. When he didn’t stir, Mike kicked him again. When Jaime finally opened his eyes, Mike asked, “What the hell happened?”

Jaime rolled over. “Ugh. Turn the lights off. My head is pounding.”

“You’re lying on the ground outside our bus,” Mike informed him. “I can’t turn off the sun.”

Jaime sat up, covering his eyes. “Where Tony?”

“Looks like he’s passed out on the roof. Again.” Mike said.

“Bring him inside?” Jaime asked, staggering onto his feet and into the bus. He filled a cup with some water and reached into the cabinet for some ibuprofen. After swallowing a few, he got some for Tony and refilled the cup, setting them down on the table.

He took a seat at the table as Mike came in with a very bruised a swollen Tony. Tony sat across from Jaime and remarked, “You look like shit.”

“So do you,” Jaime said as Tony took the medicine.

Mike pushed Jaime over and sat next to him. “What happened last night?” he asked.

Tony thought back to last night. It was pretty blurry. He remembered something about Jaime and Vic tackling him to the ground and Jaime teasing him about it on the roof. There might’ve been something about wanting something but he couldn’t be sure. All he knew was that there had been a pretty nasty fight.

“We fought,” Jaime said.

“No shit,” Mike commented sarcastically. “Why?”

“I don’t remember. We were drunk,” Tony said.

“Yeah,” Jaime agreed, looking curiously at Tony. Unlike the Turtle, he remembered last night clearly. And he couldn’t help but think that Tony really did want him. It invoked strange feelings that he didn’t really understand. All he knew was that he wasn’t entirely sure about Tony and that no matter what, they’ll still be friends.

“It was just a fight,” Jaime said. “It doesn’t really matter.”
“Especially since I won,” Tony smirked.

“Who decided that?” Jaime asked, completely offended, despite his memory telling him that Tony was right.

“I wasn’t the one who ended up on the ground.” He replied, chuckling a bit.

“Yeah whatever. I’m taking a shower,” Jaime announced. “Get out of my way Mike.”

Jaime took his time in the shower, letting the hot water clear his thoughts and ease his swollen body’s pain. His thoughts drifted to Tony. He couldn’t help the nagging feeling he had that Tony really did like him.

Has Tony always felt this way? Or was it something new?

Jaime shook his head. He didn’t even know if Tony felt the way he suspected he did. Still, Jaime had to know if he bestfriend wanted to be more than friends.

He turned off the water and headed out of the bathroom wearing only his boxers. He saw Tony look at him for a second but then his eyes were back on the game he was playing. Jaime frowned. That could’ve been a normal reaction.

Oh well.

Jaime found his way to his bunk. He figured that with a little bit of rest, he’ll think of how to squeeze Tony’s true feelings out of him.
