The barbeque wasn’t as bad as Noelle thought it would be after seeing Tony there. A load of other people had turned up so the pair was very rarely in the same conversation. Jaime could sense that something was eating her up. He could sense that it had to do with Tony too.

“Hey man, so how do you know Noelle?” Mike asked Tony as they sat in the kitchen drinking a beer.

“We dated in high school” Tony replied with no emotion. He didn’t really know how to react especially since it was his fault they ended.

“Oh, shit” Mike said. “Bad break up I’m guessing. She looks like she’s ready to kick your head off?” Mike laughed.

“I don’t blame her. I was a complete dick” Tony downed the rest of his beer before picking another one up almost immediately. He couldn’t take his eyes off Noelle. She was beautiful. She had long brown hair and was covered in tattoos, with piercing blue/grey eyes. She had a petite figure but it suited her. On most other people that figure would look unhealthy.
Tony knew that she was so small because she battled anorexia when they were in high school. He helped her get over it though. He couldn’t help but let his mind wander back to the first time they met.

“You’re not supposed to be up here” called out a deep voice.
“Yeah and why’s that?” Replied a raspy female voice, it was clear that she had been crying.
“Because this is where I come to chill and I’d rather not have other people up here” He said walking closer to the girl that was sat against the wall.
They were up on the school rooftop. No one ever came up here except a few stoners and Tony Perry.
“Well I’m here to chill too. So you can either deal with it and sit somewhere or go find somewhere new.” She hissed at him.
“Fine” Tony sighed in defeat. He sat against the wall that faced the beautiful brunette. “I’m Tony” He held his hand out and the girl wiped away a few stray tears then shook his hand “Noelle”
“That’s a nice name” Tony smiled softly in her direction and it was infectious because Noelle found herself smiling right back at him.
“So why are you up here?” Noelle asked.
“Needed to escape the chaos down there; I hate this place” He sighed and pulled out a beer from his school bag. He took a swig then offered it Noelle who happily took it. “What about you?” He asked
“Fed up of people thinking they know shit about me when they know fuck all. I like the quiet up here, it helps me calm down” She answered honestly before passing the bottle back to Tony.
They stayed there for the rest of the period passing the alcohol back and forth. They spoke about what subjects they were each taking. It was the first day of the semester and they had both already skipped two classes. They found out they would be in music together though.
There was an obvious attraction to each other. They couldn’t take their eyes off one another the whole time they sat there talking. When they left to head for their different classes Tony hugged Noelle and said that if she ever needed someone to join her in the quiet that he was more than willing to skip class with her. This made her smile before hugging him again lightly and walking down the steps towards the rest of the school.

Tony was soon snapped out of his thoughts by Mike who was waving his hand in front of his face. “Dude you totally just zoned out” Mike laughed a little.

“Oh, uh sorry” Tony said. His upset was evident.

It was nearing the end of the night and everyone had become at least tipsy. Tony had drunken more than anyone and decided he would attempt to talk to Noelle for the first time all night. Noelle was sat on Jaime’s lap while they were talking to Casey and Mal at the outside table. Mike and Vic were around talking to other guests.

“Hey No, can we talk” Tony said as he approached the table. She cringed when he called her No. It was a nickname he gave her 2 weeks after they met.

“You have to stop calling me that and I have nothing to say to you” She didn’t even look at him when she spoke. She knew that if she did she would give in and talk to him.

Jaime could feel her tensing up as Tony stood there. “Are you okay?” He whispered into her ear. She nodded that she was and rested her head on his chest.

“Fine, be like that but I thought you of all people would like as little drama as possible”

“Oh I bet you also thought that I wouldn’t mind you cheated on me too, huh?” She barked at him and asked Jaime if they could go but before he even had a chance to get up an argument had started.

“And for that I’m sorry but we should at least try to get along”

“You think I want to get along with you? I had to leave San Diego because of you and the shit that followed that is ridiculous and you want me to try and get along with you? You made my life fucking hell Tony. I gave you everything and you threw out the window when you slept with that slut. Because of you I can’t even pick up my guitar anymore. So fuck you Perry. I don’t want to get along with you, whether you’re my boyfriend’s friend or not.” She looked as if she was ready to punch him in the face but Jaime tugged on her shoulders and guided her through the house. The tears began to stream down her face before they even made it to the car.

Tony didn’t know how to react. He punched a wall resulting in a broken hand; he also had tears falling from his eyes. Mike took him inside to check on his hand before saying they should go to the hospital to get it checked out. Everyone else was just sat in shock. They were not expecting any of that. Tony to be a cheater, of all people his friends would never have suspected him.
