I'm Afraid That I've Thrown It All Away

Chapter Sixteen

The doctors were baffled with the extent of Noelle’s injuries and have kept her in hospital. She will need to stay for at least a week, for further testing on her head. They believe that when Noelle hit the boat the part of her brain that controls memories was affected.

Noelle has been seriously confused since taking in all the news. She can’t believe that she is in fact 26, no longer in high school and was with Jaime and not Tony. Tommy has tried to convince Noelle that it would be good for her to have the band around, to see if she can remember things at a slow rate. The doctors thought this was a good idea too.

Noelle was apprehensive at first but finally gave in and let the guys visit her. At first Noelle only wanted to see Tommy and Tony but Tony didn’t come back to the hospital. Carmen has stuck around but Tony went back to the beach house. He doesn’t really know what to think right now. He’s glad that she doesn’t remember that he cheated on her, very glad but he also feels bad for Jaime.

It has been two days since the accident and today Jaime and the rest of the band were coming to visit her, after Tommy pleaded.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” Vic asked as he walked in. Noelle gave him a small smile, she felt kind of bad for not knowing them or remembering any of the time she has spent with them.

“The headache has gone but everything is still so confusing” She looked over each of his features, hoping her memory would come back to her. Currently the only things going through her mind was the date that she and Tony went on a few nights ago. Well a few nights ago in her mind anyway.

They had been to a really nice restaurant and ordered their favourite pasta dishes. Then Tony took her to a cute dancehall where Noelle had always wanted to go. They spent the night dancing with a load of old couples and had the time of their life. It made Noelle sad remembering that because there was this other guy that she was now dating, trying to help her remember all of the dates she went on with him.

“I bought my laptop, it has loads of pictures and videos on it and I thought it could help you” Jaime said with sadness in his voice, it was understandable. His band mates felt so sorry for him, what if she never regains her memory and Jaime has really lost Noelle. They would all be affected by it.

“Thank you, let’s hope it works” She gave him a genuine smile. Noelle found him to be very attractive, but in her mind she felt like looking at another guy would be wrong because she’s with Tony. Jaime though, he had these cute dimples that bought a smile to Noelle’s face no matter what she thought, they were infectious.

She motioned for Jaime to sit on the bed with her and he obliged. They sat there for hours, looking through pictures and videos of the pair of them. Jaime shared stories of how they met and things they’ve done together. Mike and Vic joined in, telling them about the parties and barbeques they’ve been to. Mike reminded Noelle of the time they all helped decorate her apartment; it was the first time they had got high together. The never mentioned the fact that she and Tony argued that night. They thought they should probably mention why she and Tony were no longer together but didn’t want to cause any pain. But Noelle bought up that subject when the boys had gone to get them all some food, it was just her and Tommy left in the room.

“Tommy, if I’m with Jaime, what happened with me and Tony?” He sighed

“You guys had a big argument one night and you ended it. You then took a job in LA. You hadn’t spoken to him in six years but when Jaime introduced you to his friends, Tony happened to be one of them” He couldn’t bring himself to tell her he cheated.

“Oh, okay. Are Jaime and I happy? He seems lovely, like he would take care of me” Noelle wanted to know as much about her current life as she could.

“You guys are really happy. He loves you and you love him, he takes care of you so much” Tommy informed her. Vic, Mike and Jaime came through the door at that point, food in hand.

“I managed to find some pop tarts” Jaime laughed and passed them over to Noelle who had a big smile on her face.

“My favourite, thank you” She smiled at each of them.

“If I don’t get my memory back, I still want to be your friend. You guys seem really cool and I want to learn everything about you again” She sounded jolly and everyone was surprised by her sudden optimism, well sort of optimism.

“Well we’re in a band” Mike started.

“That’s so cool. I play drums and sometimes guitar. Wait, what do I do for a living?” She looked at Jaime.

“You own a clothing line with Tommy” He informed.

“Oh awesome” She liked the sound of that “I always liked art” She seemed pleased with her decision to go into designing.

“So what do each of you do in your band? I’m guessing Tony is with you guys?” Noelle asked as she took a bite out of her last pop tart.

“I play bass, Mike is on drums, Vic sings and plays guitar and Tony plays guitar as well” She smiled at the thought of them rocking out on stage, she always loved music, she always loved when Tony would play guitar for her too.

“What are you called?”

“Pierce the Veil” Vic responded with a smile on his face.

“Well I can’t wait to see you live some time.” They all chuckled at her response and spent the rest of the day telling Noelle things about themselves, and her for that matter.

“I’m sorry to interrupt guys but visiting hours are over, you can come back tomorrow” Doctor Spence informed them.

“Before we go, do you have any news on Noelle’s condition?” Jaime asked, hoping they were getting somewhere. The doctor walked further into the room and joined everyone sat around the bed.

“We have been working hard on your case today and we don’t believe there is anything we can physically do for you. There are some medications and treatment programmes that might be able to help. But for right now we think what you are doing is the best hope there is, having the guys feeding you memories. We also recommend that when you leave here at the end of the week, you go back to your normal lifestyle. Obviously the boys will have to help you with that but right now that is all we have. We’re not going to stop looking for a possible cure though.”

“Okay, thank you” Jaime said and looked back at Noelle who had a blank expression on her face.

“Yeah, thank you. Do you think that what we’re doing will work?” Noelle asked with that same hopeful tone that Jaime had.

“We’re not sure but we can only wait and see” The doctor gave them all a sad smile and left the room.

The boys said their goodbyes to Noelle; Jaime left his laptop so she could go through the pictures again if she wanted to. She ended up looking through them for a couple of hours before going to sleep.

Noelle felt bad when it came time to say bye to Jaime though, she could tell he wanted to kiss her but instead went for a hug. He said he loved her to which she replied “I’ve been told I love you too” Which made them all laugh a little. She really does want her memory back.

A few more days had passed and Noelle had not remembered anything, she had some flashes of events but not enough to sit down and say what happened, which frustrated her the most.

Noelle had 2 more days in the hospital but today she was allowed to go out for lunch. The boys were taking her to a restaurant not too far from the hospital. Tony and Carmen were also coming along. Noelle was happy that she would get to see Tony.

When Tommy and Noelle arrived at the restaurant the rest of the gang were waiting for them outside and smiled when they showed up.

“Old Spice?” Noelle questioned Jaime after he hugged her hello.

“Always” He chuckled and held the door open for her to enter the restaurant.

They got their table and began to look over the menus. They ordered their meals and then spoke about random things. Noelle spoke about her music and the songs she used to write. Tommy informed her that she doesn’t right anymore.

“Why would I stop writing, that’s stupid” Noelle huffed but then realisation hit her. She slammed her fork down on her plate and looked Tony directly in the eye, he could sense what she was about to say.

“You cheated” She stated as the tears began to fall. Everyone around the table was shocked; Noelle remembered.

Does this mean her memory is back, or does she only remember that?

Notes

This was going to be longer but I changed the ending of this chapter.
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think :)

I also had a dream last night that the boys found all of my stories and read them but instead of finding them weird they actually like them haha. Could you imagine if they actually found this site haha?
