I'm Afraid That I've Thrown It All Away

Chapter Fourteen

It was finally time for the boys to come home from tour; well they’d be home tomorrow. Noelle and Tommy were having best friend night at Noelle’s tonight.

“So you have everything sorted right? You know how you feel about each of them?” Tommy asked.

Noelle had been trying to figure everything, to do with Tony, out for the last 3 weeks. Being away from both him and Jaime helped her. She realised that it was just a momentary infatuation and that she did not care for Tony in that way, she can’t explain why she had that momentary feeling but he did play a big role in her life at one point so it kind of makes sense. She loves Jaime more than anything and if anything were to happen to their relationship she would be crushed.

“Yes, I love my hime-time” She giggled at the nickname his band mates gave him.

“I can’t wait for them to get back so we can go to the beach house and just party all weekend” Tommy was more excited about that than anyone, maybe not Mike; Mike was fairly excited.

“Neither can I. It should be fun, it’s next weekend too which means we don’t even have to find cover for work since Mel and Jonah will be working” Noelle was relieved that she hired a few more employees.

She had to fire a few because they just weren’t pulling their weight about the place and it wasn’t fair on the others. The new line had dropped last week and Jaime phoned her as soon as he saw it, he wanted to check it out anyway but when she said there was a surprise for him, he was as anxious as anyone. Noelle and Tommy had designed a shirt that had a little character that represented Jaime, with the spikey hair and everything. He was wearing a Toy Story t-shirt and was kicking a soccer ball. It was so adorable. Jaime loved it and told Noelle that he couldn’t wait to get one.

Noelle was getting nervous about him coming home because of what she had to tell him, she wasn’t sure how he would react and that scared her so much.

“Honey I’m home” Jaime sang into Noelle’s apartment as he entered. Noelle came running out of her bedroom and jumped on her boyfriend, attacking him with kisses.

“I missed you so much” She said as she was placed back on the ground.

“I missed you too sweetie” He kissed her one more time and they went over to the couch.

“Do you want anything to eat, I haven’t been shopping but I have some pop tarts left over from last night” Noelle asked

“Best friend night?” Jaime asked

“You bet. So, food? We can just order Chinese actually” Noelle was beginning to ramble and Jaime could see she was nervous

“Yeah, I’ll order it. Are you okay Noelle, you seem a bit… on edge” He was cautious

“Yeah I’m fine” She tried to come off as calm and collected but he wasn’t buying it. Jaime went into the kitchen and ordered their dinner.

“Okay, it’ll be about half an hour” He informed Noelle who was searching through the movie channels. They saw that Inception was going to start in about 10 minutes so decided to stay on that channel.

“Noelle, what’s going on, I can tell you’re hiding something and it’s scaring me” Jaime looked into her eyes, searching for something, anything that would tell him what was up.

Noelle took a deep sigh and got comfortable next to Jaime. “I’m scared to tell you. I don’t want you to be mad at me” She started, looking away from him

“Why would I get mad at you? Please Noelle just tell me what’s going on” He pushed

“Okay, remember that night that we all went to that amusement park, fancy restaurant and then to the bar, when I had to pay for Mike’s drinks all night?” She asked

Jaime nodded “Yeah, you didn’t feel well so we went home early” He remembered

“Yeah, well it wasn’t because I wasn’t feeling well. When I went outside the bar to get some air” She paused and took another breath “Well, Tony kissed me again. He kept saying how he misses me and was jealous of you and I told him I didn’t feel like that anymore and he kissed me but” Jaime was in shock, Tony told him he didn’t feel like that anymore

“But what?” He urged her to continue

“I kind of kissed back. But when I stopped myself and walked away immediately and the only reason I didn’t tell you when it happened was because I didn’t want to ruin the tour for you and over the last 3 weeks I have done nothing but feel guilty and terrible. I don’t like Tony, I love you and I’m scared you’re going to leave me” Noelle was now crying and Jaime helped wipe away her tears

“Hey, hey listen to me. I forgive you okay. I get it. You guys had a big thing in the past and it was serious, the moment overtook you or some shit like that. You said you don’t like him and that you’re sorry and I believe you” He was looking right into her eyes so she knew he was telling the truth. He was really hurt by what he just heard but he loved Noelle too much to give her up. She said she was sorry and he really did believe her

“You’re too good for me Jaime. I don’t deserve you” She whispered

“You’re perfect for me. I’m perfect for you and besides, he hit on you first again so it’s his fault. He took advantage of your drunken state.” He had that comforting tone again, how anyone could be stressed when Jaime talks like that is unknown.

The doorbell rang and Noelle got up to pay for the Chinese that had finally been delivered. They decided to drop the subject of Tony and enjoy their food while watching Inception. They ended up having an early night too, since Jaime was so shattered from only just being back off tour.

“Hey Hime, I didn’t realise you were coming over” Tony said through his tiredness

“Yeah and I didn’t realise you were a shit friend” Jaime spat back as he stood in Tony’s living room.

“What are you talking about?” Tony guessed what he meant but he was hoping Noelle wouldn’t have said anything

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe the fact that you kissed my girlfriend, again” Jaime’s voice was raised and Tony doesn’t think he’s ever seen Jaime this angry

“Oh, about that” Before Tony couldn't say anything else he felt Jaime’s fist connect with his jaw.
“Okay, I deserved that but can we talk about it?” Tony pleaded

“There’s nothing to talk about Tony, you’re a fucking dick.” Jaime insulted, he wanted to do more than punch him but he was going to restrain himself.

“Stay away from Noelle” Jaime warned “And me for that matter, when it comes to the band fine but as for being best friends, you might want to find a new one” Jaime stared at him one last time and walked out, slamming the door behind him.

Tony went to the kitchen and got out a bag of frozen veg to put on his jaw. He sat at the kitchen table with tears in his eyes. He was regretting everything he has ever done and in the moment he felt like the worst person going.

“I always have to fuck everything up, don’t I?” He mumbled to himself. He tried to call Jaime, since he realised he never actually apologised but, as expected, Jaime didn’t answer so Tony left a message on his voicemail:

“Look Jaime, I’m sorry about what I did. I get that you don’t want be my friend anymore and that sucks but I guess it’s the least I deserve. I truly am sorry, I know it’s no excuse but I was drunk and when I told you that I don’t like Noelle like that I was telling the truth but-“ The phone beeped indicating that he filled up his message space. He hung up the phone and put the makeshift ice pack back on his face.

“Great” He sighed and moved to the lounge putting on the television and got lost in a discovery channel programme.

“BEACH HOUSE, BEACH HOUSE, BEACH HOUSE” Mike chanted as he put the bottles of gold vodka in his bag, he made sure to pack extra since they decided to extend their stay from a weekend to a week. The whole gang was going Mike, Tommy, Giselle, Vic, Noelle, Jaime, Tony and Tony’s new girlfriend Carmen. Carmen happened to be the girl that was practically Noelle’s twin, from the notorious night at the bar. Just what Noelle needed.

“Okay, Mike you can calm down now. It’s just a beach house, not that big a deal” Noelle said

“Yeah but it’s going to be so fun and I’m excited” Mike was acting like a child on Christmas morning.

“Okay but still, calm down. You’re giving me a headache” She moaned

“Yeah I second that” Tommy said coming over and putting his bags next to Mike’s

“The cars are ready, are you lot?” Jaime asked walking through the front door

“Yeah” Everyone called back and made their way outside.

In one car, Tommy, Giselle, Noelle and Jaime, Vic, Mike, Tony and Carmen were in the other car. The beach house was about 2 hours away and since it was still early in the morning, most people were going to take a nap. Noelle and Jaime not doing so because they were so used to being up this early so they decided to chat with Tommy, who was driving. Giselle fell asleep pretty much as soon as she got in the car.

“So Tony’s new girlfriend huh?” Yeah cheers for bringing that up Tommy was what Noelle was currently thinking.

“She seems nice, to be honest” Noelle replied, she wasn’t lying either. She has so far actually been really sweet

“Yeah, I think so too. I don’t know if Tony is serious about her or not though. I mean she looks just like you” Jaime noted, he wasn’t wrong either

“I know, it is weird looking at her” Noelle didn’t want to talk about this anymore “So Jaime and I are having your old room”

“What no, it’s still my room. Take your old room” He whined like a kid

“No, you can take it. You always used to moan when I took that room anyway” She gave him a look through the rear view mirror and he knew he would have to give up

“Fine, you can have my old room. I’ll just take my parents room and someone else can have yours” He compromised.

Noelle didn’t really want to share a bed with Jaime that she and Tony used to share when they would come here. I think Jaime had worked this out but didn’t bother saying anything since she and Tommy had figured it out.

“I’m so hungry” Jaime complained “You should’ve had breakfast then” Noelle teased before passing him a pack of banana chips from her bag to him “I knew you’d get hungry” She passed him the packet of dried fruit and he kissed her on the cheek “What would I do without you?” She giggled and pulled out her book.

“This place is so nice” Carmen said as she exited the car and moved to the trunk to retrieve her bags.

“Thanks, my parents bought it the summer before I was born and we’ve had it ever since” Tommy replied

“Wow, you must have some great memories from here then?” She asked

“That we do” Noelle replied as Tommy passed her, her bag. “We used to come here all the time when we were younger” She smiled at the memories, trying to block out the ones that involved Tony.

“Oh, I didn’t know you guys knew each other for that long” Carmen was really sweet and as much as the guys tried to not like her, it was near impossible. She really wanted to get to know the guys and they decided to make an effort also.

“We’ve been friends since we were about 14” Tommy replied since Noelle and Jaime had already gone up to the house, Tommy, Carmen and the rest of the guys followed them.

“Carmen wasn’t wrong, this place is amazing” Jaime said as they stood in the lounge. It had a kitchen connected to it, very open plan. There was a study to the left of the lounge and a little hallway between the two rooms. Down that hall were two bedrooms and a staircase. Upstairs were 3 more bedrooms and a bathroom. Most bedrooms had en suites though. There was also a balcony upstairs, which you got to from a door connected to the end of the landing. The house was old décor but modern at the same time. It was truly beautiful. There were plenty of large windows which meant there was plenty of light too.

“Come, I’ll show you our bedroom” Noelle tugged on Jaime’s arm as she took him down the hall. Noelle was taking Tommy’s old room and it was one of the two on the ground floor. Noelle’s old room was the upstairs; it was one of the nicest ones in the house but with all the memories that would be in there, she didn’t want to even go in there.

“Dude, this is so nice” Jaime gushed as he and Noelle stepped through the door, everyone else was running about the place choosing their bedrooms too. As you enter this bedroom there is a double bed on the opposing wall, with a connecting bathroom to the left side of the bed. A large bay window on the right hand wall with a wardrobe stood against the wall of which the door was a part of. There was a TV hanging next to the wardrobe and a small vanity desk on the left wall. It was a fairly decent sized room and came equipped with all the essentials.

“Glad you like it” Noelle kissed Jaime on the cheek, threw her bags on the bed and walked out of the room “I’ll give you a tour of the rest of the house” Mike walked out of the room next to hers “I want to be a part of that tour too”

“Okay, but you best be nice to the tour guide or she’ll beat you up” Noelle joked

“Yes ma’am” Mike and Jaime said in unison before bursting into laughter.

After the tour, which Tommy and everyone else joined they went and made lunch. They had been for a grocery shop the day before so they had everything they would need. If they needed anything else there were shops about a 20 minute drive away. When the food was done they all sat in the back yard, which overlooked the beach. It was a breath-taking view and none of them could think of a more perfect place to spend a week together.
