You Make Me Feel So Alive

III.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her even as hard as I tried; I couldn’t seem to get the little girl’s image out of my head. Her fear as she buried her body in mine as we tried to hide from the men still clings on to me and leaves me with a sense of emptiness knowing that she was gone and I couldn’t help her. It’s just a dream Beau snap out of it. I let out a sigh as I raise the volume of my music up, loud enough so I wouldn’t be able to think anymore. I thought after a long night of being out in the sun and performing was going to help me but here I find myself. I focus on the music playing in my headphones as I tap my fingers against my thigh to the beat but my mind keeps coming back to the same thing.
“Ugh!” I pull the curtain of my bunk open and hop off frustrated. I toss my headphones back on the bed and head to the front of the bus. I push the door open and see a paper float to the ground in front of me. I look down as it lands on the floor and notice my name on top of the white sheet. I pick it up and flip it open to find a really detailed picture of a girl with her arms outstretched. My heart sinks as I hear the familiar yelling in my ears as I look at the picture. It was the same little girl from my dreams, Esme being dragged away and yelling out my name. I flip the paper around in hopes to find a name signed on it but find nothing except the haunting image. Who could have done this? No one except me knew the exact image from my dream and now it was right in front of me. I feel my hands start to shake as I ponder the thought deeper. What was this supposed to mean?
“Bokan!” I hear someone shout out my name and I spot Mike from Pierce the Veil wave me over. I take one last look at the drawing and fold it up and put it in my back pocket before heading over. I spot Eric, Vic, Jaime, Jaxin, Mike, Elliott and Tony sitting in front of the PTV bus, taking a few beers.
“Hey how have you been Beau?” Jaime asks me as soon as I reach them.
“I’ve been good, you guys?”
“Just excited to be back here.” Vic says.
“How have you guys liked main stage these past couple of days?”
“It’s awesome! It’s still pretty crazy seeing all those fans coming in to watch our set.”
“Yeah that’s what I was thinking after our set.” Eric says, agreeing with Vic.
As they all continue to talk about the tour I can’t help but feel my back pocket get heavy as I stare up ahead at our bus and remember the picture that I found not long ago.
“Hey did any of you happen to see anyone come by the bus?” They all looked at each other in confusion before shaking their head.
“No was someone supposed to stop by?” Elliott asked.
“No I just found something on the door with my name on it but it doesn’t say who it was from.”
“We’ve been out here this whole time. I didn’t see anything.” Mike said.
“It was probably just a fan that snuck their way in here and left it before they were spotted.” Jaxin said.
“Yeah probably.” I said taking his comment in. It could be a possibility but how would they know what I was dreaming about? How would anyone know? “How come you’re so quiet Tony?” I said changing the subject as I turned to face the chair beside me, where he sat. Ever since I got here he’s been wrapped up on his phone not sharing a word with the group.
“Good luck getting something out of him, he’s been busy talking to his new girlfriend.” Jaime said.
“She’s not my girlfriend.” He said quickly but didn’t bother trying to hide the smile on his face.
“Whatever Tony, you two have been nearly attached at the hip since I saw you two on the bus and if she’s not here you two are talking on the phone. She's your girlfriend."
“Dang Tony sounds like you really like this girl.” I told him and I watched his cheeks go a shade of pink as he continued to smile.
“Yeah I do. She’s cool, she’s a big step up from Hannah my ex and I don’t know I’m just seeing how things go.”
“That’s cool. Are you bringing her to the barbecue later?”
“Yeah I think she might come.”
“Sweet, well I wish you two luck. She seems like's she's pretty cool.”
“Thanks man. Yeah she really is, I'll be sure to introduce her to you guys when she gets here.”
"Alright, I'll be looking forward to that."

~~*~~

“I’ll be right back, you guys head on without me.” I told everyone as the barbecue started on the other side of the lot. I walked towards the bus and stepped inside. I pulled out the picture from my back pocket and headed straight to my bunk and freeze as I spot another white sheet on top of my pillow. I grab the sheet and take a deep breath before flipping it open. I looked down at the new drawing of me this time, sitting in the closet hugging Esme just like in my dream. I flip the paper over knowing I wouldn’t find a name but instead see a note written at the bottom corner.

’Meet me at the front of the lot at six-thirty.’

I look down at my phone and notice that I had only two minutes to meet whoever this person was. I drop the picture and run out the bus. I run through the back of the buses in hopes of not being spotted by the guys and rush towards the front of the lot. I slow down as I spot the gate in front of me and take a deep breath before walking around the last bus. Whoever is sending me these pictures must know about my dreams and maybe this can put an end to all of that. I feel my heart rate shoot up as I take a couple steps forward and finally walk around. I spot a shadow standing towards the middle of the bus but I can’t make out any features due to the darkness where they stood. I step closer to the person and notice that they have a hoodie covering their head as they stand facing the opposite direction. I place my hand on the person’s shoulder but as I try to turn them around I feel the hoodie fall to my feet and I knew the person was already gone. I look around me in search of the shadow but notice that I was no longer in the parking lot but rather in my old room.

“You can’t hide forever!” I hear the voice at the end of the hall making me rush to the closet door. I swing the door open and instead of finding myself with Esme like I expected I see a girl sitting in the middle of the closet, hugging her knees to her chest. I squat down to her level and take her hand to help her stand before the man came into the room. She lifts her head up to look at me and moves her long brown hair out of the way for a better look and that’s when I recognize her eyes. The same eyes I saw earlier at Starbucks. It was Grey standing in front of me again. I notice the tears start to slide down her cheeks and I feel the fear in them as the footsteps start to get louder as they get closer.
“Help me.” She whispers as she slides something into my hand.
I see the man appear at the door and watch him staring at us, ready to take her away all over again. I push her behind me and face the man, ready to fight him. He wasn't going to take her, not this time. He gets closer and closer and just as the he’s about to reach her I hear the screams and everything turns black.
I open my eyes and feel my body full of sweat as I stare at the top of my bunk. This was all a dream. But why did it feel so real? I bring my hand up to wipe the sweat off of my forehead but stop when I feel something in my hand. I bring my hand over my face and turn it to find a key card to a hotel room for the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. I stare at the card in bewilderment feeling as though I was seeing things but I knew it was real, it was right in front of me, I was feeling it.
“Rise and shine guys! We just arrived in Vegas.” I hear Anthony our tour manger say just outside our bunks.
I stare back at the card and run my finger across the room numbers.
“I’m coming Esme.”
