Did You Call Me Last Night Just Cus' You Couldn't Get Laid?

Chapter One

"Wake up laska, we've got shit to sell!" my best friend Louis bellowed in my ear.

I rolled over and glanced at the time on my phone screen, the light almost blinding me. It was already 10 o'clock? Fuck. I jumped out of my bunk and stuck out my tongue at Louis before venturing into the tiny bathroom and looking at myself in the mirror. My reddy brown hair was sticking up all over the place and I had heavy bags under my eyes.

"For the love of god" I muttered to myself before grabbing my makeup bag off the counter and fixing my look the best I could, rubbing concealer under my eyes and spraying some dry shampoo into my hair. I grabbed one of Louis’ drop dead tees, a pair of skinny jeans and fresh underwear and quickly changed into them. When I was satisfied with how I looked, I padded out to the front lounge of our bus and threw my pyjamas back on my bed, I didn't look perfect but on tour no one ever really did.

Everyone except for Louis and I had already left the bus. There were six of us living together, including me and Louis. We did merch for Of Mice and Men, Cameron and Ollie did merch for Sleeping with Sirens and Fletcher and Dan did merch for Memphis May Fire. Currently, we were all on tour together, driving from state to state whilst the band’s played venues across the country. We were all having the time of lives, partying hard every night and meeting some awesome people whilst selling merch. Me and Louis had gotten into merch in high school, when Austin had asked us to help him out at some local gigs. We’d been doing their merch ever since, so travelling was all I’d ever really known and I loved it.

I grabbed a can of lemonade relentless out of the fridge and threw Louis a can of original.

“Ready to go?” He asked, grinning ear to ear as he caught the can with one hand.

“Yeah, help me carry some boxes out from the back?”

“Sure thing kiddo!” Louis was only a year older than me at 22, but he still insisted on calling me "kid" all the time and treating me like I was his baby sister.

We carried all the boxes inside the venue and set up our table near the back, pinning t-shirts to the board with the prices next to them and arranging the merch into piles of each size. We finished setting up around two and decided to go out for lunch. Finding a cute little vegetarian restaurant to eat out down town as we were both dead set against eating meat.

Louis and I made small talk as we ate, wondering what we were going to do tonight and if any of the bands were having parties on their buses.

“Was that your phone or mine?” Louis questioned, patting his pocket.

“Mine, I felt it vibrate.” I responded, pulling out my iphone and unlocking it. I ignored all of my instagram and twitter notifications and opened the text I’d just received.

do you hate me? :/

I didn’t have the number saved, so it was impossible for me to know who it was from.

I typed my reply: I don’t really hate anyone, so no I doubt it! But it would sure as hell help if I knew who this was!

Hey Lou, do you recognize this number?” I passed him my phone.

“Errr, let me just search it in my phone.” He began typing in the number. “Shit, Alaska...”

“What? Who is it?”

“Mike...” He said, before letting out a snort of laughter.

“Oh my god! What a tool!” I said, giggling.

Me and Mike had on and off flings for around about two years, back when his band Pierce the Veil were still trying to get big. They’d toured with Of Mice and Men a couple times and were at Warped when we were, but every time we hooked up it seemed to end with massive arguments, and ultimately us hating each other. We’d scream, shout, call each other names. A couple of times I’d blown up at him for “using me” for sex. There was just too many feelings involved, and it sucked. “Friends with benefits” just doesn’t work when deep down you want to be more than friends with the person. It’d been two years since I’d heard from Mike, and this text had come from out of the blue. I’d deleted his number and pretty much every trace of him when we’d ended up having a huge argument. Some pretty bad shit had been said.

“Whatever he pulls, don’t fall for it laska, he’s a great mate but you guys were way too crazy man!” Louis said smirking at me.

“Shut up Louis, It’s not like we’re gonna see each other any time soon anyway. Besides, I bet he doesn’t even reply.”

I put my phone back down on the table and sunk back into my chair, I knew Mike was bad for me, but I kind of wanted him to bring a little bit of excitement back into my life.
