I Don't Know the Awkward Stranger to my Right

Yeah Boy and Doll Face

~*POV Vic*~

I took my brother's hand in mine as the ambulance rocketed down the highway to the closest hospital. It took 15 minutes for the EMT's to get the light fixture off of him. It had hit him on the head, causing him to fall backwards, before ricocheting and landing on his stomach. There was blood, so much blood... I just got him back, it terrifies me to think that I might lose him again, for good this time.

I tried to get Jenna to go in the ambulance with him because he knew her better at this point. But she refused, saying that I was family. So, instead she gathered up the remaining of their friends and they were following Jaime, who was driving Tony and Matt, to the hospital.

I wonder what's going through all of their head's right now, especially Tony's... If Mike hadn't pushed him out of the way, it would've been him... I remember the look on Tony's face when Jaime asked if Mike and Jenna were together, I thought he was going to be sick. And when Jenna assured us nothing was going on, how relieved he looked. Tony really does care about Mike... Even after all this bullshit... If, no, WHEN, Mike recovers, I want them to be happy again...

We got to the hospital after a short ride, and suddenly, they took Mike from me... Leaving me in some waiting room with a stack of paperwork. I sighed and worked on filling it out, I'm not going to lie, it would've been a lot easier if I knew what he'd been doing for the last 6 months...

I sighed heavily as I finished up the paperwork, I wonder where the others are... I don't want to be alone right now... I need them.

I walked up to the front desk and handed the nurse the paperwork, "Do you know what's going on with him?" I asked quietly.

She looked through some papers and typed something into her computer before saying, "It seems like he's been rushed into emergency surgery to fix a collapsed lung. It seems like there are some laceration all over his stomach and some swelling in the brain."

I cringed at the last one, nothing sounded good... But the last one sounds the worst. What if he's a vegetable?!

"The doctors have it written down here that the only part of the brain that was effected was the part that controls memory," she said, I exhaled slightly, I can deal with that, he had no memory of me in the first place, "They also said that it could correct the damage that was already there, or make it worse... Only time will tell..."

"So," I whispered, "Does that mean he could get his memory back?"

"I don't know hun, I'm sorry,"

I nodded and sat back down to wait. I felt my nerves take over, what if he's not? This sounds serious, he could die easily. Mikey know, don't leave me. I cried into my hands, my baby brother...

"Vic," I heard someone whisper, taking me into their arms, "You're ok Vicky, he's going to be ok."

"Jaime!" I cried, recognizing his embrace, "What if he's not though?! We just got him back!"

"I know Vic," he said, pulling me onto his lap, "He'll be ok though, he has to be."

I nuzzled my head into his shoulder and cried and cried until I eventually fell asleep.

~*POV Jaime*~

I rubbed gentle circles into Vic's back as he slept. After crying for quite some time, he fell asleep. It's so messed up, what are we going to do if he dies? I know that he's been gone for sometime now, but I know Vic and Tony never gave up hope. If he died, then there'd be no hope, he'd be gone. That would be that.

I looked over at Tony, he was sitting on the floor, perched up against the wall. He was looking off in the distance, no emotion on his face or in his eyes. He was deep in thought about something...

"What's going on?" I heard someone yell. My head snapped up, their was a nurse standing beside an older looking woman wearing a 'volunteer' coat. The older woman looked distraught.

"VIC!" she yelled, running over to us, "What's wrong with him?"

"He's fine," I said, smoothing his hair down, "Just sleeping, it's been a stressful last few hours..."

"But, she said that their was a young man with the last name 'Fuentes' in surgery right now," she said, her voice quiet, "But Vic's right here... Does that mean?"

I had feeling I knew what she meant, but I put it into words anyways, "His brother, Mike, is in surgery."

She fell to her knees, and stared in disbelief, "I thought I'd never find him..." she whispered.

"Are you their mom?" I asked, unsure of how to react if she wasn't.

She nodded and stood up, "I assume you know at least one of my sons..."

"Yeah," I said, "I'm Jaime, I'm in a band with Vic. Mike was in it too, before..." I trailed off my sentence "Anyways, that's Tony," I said, pointing to him, "He's in that band too."

She nodded and looked over at Tony, "At one point in high school Mike dated a guy named Tony... But it didn't work out, they met at the wrong time."

"I know," I said, she looked up at me, "It's a long story, I'll explain once we know more about Mike."

She nodded, "Do you know why he left before?"

"He didn't leave," I told her, "He got amnesia. He didn't know he had people worried about him."

"Oh."

We sat in silence for a very long time before a nurse came into the waiting room.

"Michael Fuentes?" she asked, "Family only for now. He was just taken into general admission. The surgery was successful and he is stable, but the doctors don't want to many people to be there when he wakes up."

"Vic," I said calmly, "Time to wake up sleepyhead. You can see Mike now."

His eyes fluttered open, "Jaime?" he whispered, "He's gone, isn't he?"

"Not at all," I said, giving him a small smile, "The opposite actually. The surgery was successful and he's stable. Now you and your mom are going to go see him ok?"

He smiled softly and got off of me. Before he could say anything his mom took him into a big hug. When she finally released him, she put her hands on his shoulders and gave him a sad smile.

"Let's go see Mikey," he said, taking her hand.

He turned back to me as they walked, "I'll text you or something when none family can see him... But, make sure Tony's ok?"

I nodded and gave him a thumbs up as he turned around and followed the nurse down the hall.

I stood up and stretched a bit before walking over to Tony. I don't think he's moved since I last looked at him. I sighed and sat down next to him. I don't know what I should say...

"Jaime," he whispered, a stream of tears flowing out of his motionless eyes, "It's my fault. If I hadn't walked away, he'd be fine. But now he's in pain and he might not even make it through the night..."

"Tony," I said, "Perk up. Were you not listening to that nurse? She said that the surgery was a success and that he's stable. Vic and his mom are waiting for him to wake up right now! He's going to be fine?"

Tony smiled slightly, "How long has Vivian been here?"

"Were you not listening at all?!"
