Chapter Twenty-Six
NEW YORK
Mike woke up before Erica; he stayed in the bunk, holding on to her for a little while. He loved watching her sleep. She was peaceful and nothing and no-one could get her. He let out a smile before kissing her cheek and getting up to go to the bathroom.
Erica woke up as soon as she felt Mike disappear; she loved being wrapped up next to him. She felt safe in his arms, like nothing and no-one could get her. She smiled at the thought but the smile soon faded when she realised where she was waking up. They were in New York and Erica didn’t know if she was ready for the drama that she knew would be coming her way today.
She rolled out of her bunk and walked to the front of the bus. Jaime was already awake and doing something on his phone. He was always the first awake and he always had so much energy in the morning. It wasn’t normal. “Hey you” Erica said as she sat next to him and placed his arm around her shoulders. “Morning pumpkin” He whispered and kissed the top of her head. “How are you feeling today?” He knew she would have a cocktail of emotions running through her and he wanted to make sure his best friend was doing okay. “Meh” She replied.
Mike soon joined the pair in the front lounge and proceeded to make breakfast for the three of them. When he passed a plate of pancakes to Erica she pushed it away. She hadn’t been eating much all week, mostly because of nerves but also because she felt disgusted with herself. Ever since she found out Leon was coming back she hated herself. She wanted to change who she was, physically and mentally. The thoughts that used to run through her mind were torturing her again. She had been wearing baggier clothes so that if she did start losing weight, nobody would notice. She hated what she was doing to herself but she hated herself in general even more.
. She thought that the reason Leon had done what he has done was because of how disgusting she was. She knew it didn’t make sense but it was what she had made herself believe. She thought that if she stopped eating he would leave her alone. Her thoughts were getting bad again and she couldn’t control them.
“Come on E, you have to eat. I know you haven’t been eating properly most of the tour” Mike was concerned. He knew about Erica’s past with eating disorders but he didn’t quite know how to approach the subject. “I’m not hungry and as for the rest of the tour my appetite was a mess from when I was ill. Honestly, you don’t have to worry” She reassured him after sensing the fear in his tone. “At least eat one pancake, please” He gave her a look to say that he knew what she was doing and he wasn’t going to have her starve herself. She sighed in defeat and ate one pancake. It took her at least 10 minutes just to eat it. Jaime couldn’t tell what was going on. He believed what Erica had said about her appetite but then again he didn’t know about her past. Well not about this or about what really happened with Leon anyway. Mike was the only person that knew about both of those things and Erica intended it to stay that way.
After breakfast Erica and Mike sat in the back lounge preparing for the day. “Erica, I’m worried about you.” Erica looked at Mike but couldn’t hold his gaze so looked back at the floor. “I know you haven’t been eating and I know it’s on purpose. I really, really don’t want you to go backwards. You’ve come so far from how you used to be and I’m scared” The sound of worry coated every word that left his lips and he was fighting back tears.
Erica didn’t know how to reply, she just hugged him and nestled her head on his chest before saying “I’m trying, I just feel horrible. Like maybe if I change how I look everything will get better.” Mike sighed pulling her face up so their eyes met before leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on her lips. “You don’t have to change yourself for anyone. You are perfect and we are going make everything better, okay? You don’t have to do this for things to change. I’m going to help you with this, I won’t be mean but if it comes to it, I will force you to eat something” He told her. He didn’t want to be harsh but bluntness was needed in a situation as serious as this.
Erica nodded and smiled at Mike. He really was an angel sent from heaven just for her, well at least that’s how she felt.

Sound check was over and the boys were setting up for the meet & greet with fans. Earlier on in the day every member of security was given Leon’s photo and told that he was not allowed to enter the building under any circumstances. They were okay with his younger cousin coming into the show but Leon would have to wait for her.
The fans had just started piling into the room and the boys sat at their designated table, pens in hand. Erica was sat on the bus with Casey because she knew that Leon would be here soon and she didn’t want to be anywhere near him.
The band was halfway through their M&G when they heard a commotion outside. Everyone knew who it would be. They chose to ignore it at first but it soon got bad and the all too familiar voice of Leon could be heard shouting obscenities all over the place.
“I’m gonna go out there” Mike stated to the rest of the band who thought that was a bad idea. “Mike, just let them deal with it. He’ll be gone soon” Vic whispered so the fans standing on the other side of the table wouldn’t hear. “I’ll be back in a minute” Trying to change his mind now is not going to work. “Fuck” Vic mumbled before signing and talking to the girl who had just reached him.
All the fans in the line were a little confused but the guys left at the table reassured them that Mike would be back in a minute.
When Mike made his way outside he saw Leon arguing with a burly security man. “I paid for a fucking ticket; I should be allowed the fuck in!!” He shouted. “My cousin and her friend should be allowed in” He continued.
“Your cousin and her friend are more than welcome to come in for the meet and greet and the show. It’s just you that is not allowed in Leon.” Mike said as he walked over to where the whole situation was taking place. Leon’s cousin and her friend gasped as they saw Mike making him smile in their direction. “You girls want me to sign anything before I go?” Mike asked and they nodded before he put his pen to their CDs.
“Now Leon, you can leave. You can come back later and pick these girls up but I am never going to let you in this building. Not while Erica is here.” He was stern not letting his voice get too loud, he didn’t want to cause a scene.
“You know what? Fuck you Mike I paid for my ticket and I’m gonna come in.” He spat
“I’ll give you the money for your ticket back if that’s all you care about but like I said, you are not coming in. I’ve already warned you twice about coming near her and if I have to do it again I will call the police on you” The girls were confused since they didn’t know Leon and Mike knew eachother. Let alone that they clearly hated eachother.
“Call them, see if I care” Leon said putting up a fight. With that the security guard that wasw still stood there rang for the police because there was a young lad harassing the band and crew.
