RACHEL'S POV

Hauling my luggage through the halls, I finally found my dorm. Momentarily letting go of my suitcase handle, I slid the key in the lock and turned it until I heard a click. Pushing it open with my foot, I pulled my belongings through the small doorway and into the room. It was fairly small - four white walls, one en-suite bathroom, two beds, two drawers, two bedside tables and a desk.

Taking the bunk on the far side of the room, I tossed my backpack on top before knocking my suitcase over and unzipping it. I began to unload my clothes when I heard the door slam shut, I turned to see a small blonde haired girl dragging a large pink suitcase behind her.

'Hey,' I said, rising to my feet, 'I'm Rachel.' Extending my hand out, she took it and shook it sternly.

'I'm Beth, nice to meet you.'

Letting go of my hand, she smiled at me with her extremely white teeth before going back to her case, kneeling down and opening it. 'So,' she began, putting a little photoframe on her bedside table, 'is this your first year here?'

'Yeah,' I replied, setting a side some clothes to change into. 'You?'

'Mhmm, I think it's gonna be fun!' Coming up from behind her bed, she shuffled on to her bed and lay down. 'Well, it's not that uncomfortable.' She rolled over, propping her head up with one hand, and watched me unpack. 'We should go for a drink, check out the campus.'

'Sure,' I replied, slamming my drawer shut. 'Just let me change?'

'Cool,' she smiled, rolling on to her back and staring at the roof.

Going into the bathroom, I smiled as I noticed that it had both a bath and a shower. Shutting the door, I slipped out of my torn black jeans and hoodie and into skinny black jeans, a black bandeau and a Vans tank top.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Beth darted of her bed at the sound of the door shutting. As she grabbed a bag and filled it with miscellaneous items, I slid on my black Vans before picking up my phone, keys and my purse, sliding them into my pockets.

'Let's go,' she said excitedly, hurrying me out the door as she locked it behind her. I hardly knew the girl but I could already tell being her roommate was going to be an experience and a half.

Wandering down the seemingly endless hall, I peaked into the room as we walked pass. Taking a left, we came to an elevator which Beth was intent on getting in. Pressing the ground floor button, the metal box jotled before starting. I concentrated on my breathing as the motion made me feel uneasy (I had a horribly large fear of elevators).

Once the little box on the roof made a pinging noise, I sighed with relief as I watched the thick doors slowly open. Following Beth, she picked up the pace as the amount of people began to increase - an indication of a bar nearby according to her.

Taking another left, we went through two large glass before finding ourselves in a bar full of students. It quickly became clear that when it came to alcohol and attractive boys, Beth was like a sniffer dog. She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the long bar.

'Two beers please,' she requested, leaning one elbow on the counter ans she took a seat and turned to me, dropping my hand. 'Nice in here,' she said, her finger gesturing to the couches in one corner and the various pieces of abstract art hanging on the walls. 'So, what classes did you take?'

As we drank our refreshing beers, we discussed our classes and interests. I told Beth that I was an aspiring photographer and that I took Photography, History, Art, English and Music. She wanted to be a nurse and had taken various classes that would help her in that field.

'Oh,' she grinned, 'look who just came in.' Taking a sneaky glance to the door of the bar, I noticed four guys entering. The one leading the group had caramel brown hair that fell across his forehead perfectly, he walked with a rather sexy swagger and laughed merrily with his companions. Behind him was a guy with spikey brown hair, the odd blonde streak going through it. At the back was one slightly smaller guy with messy, short hair and beside him was a very, very buff guy with a tank top that seemed too small due to his insanely large musceles.

Smiling back at Beth, we both turned our attention to our drinks and pretended as though we'd never seen the boys. I glanced up at her and we shared a giggle - you couldn't deny that all four boys were attractive. As I kept my eyes on Beth's eyes, I watched them grow rapidly. I looked at her questioningly, confused at her expression.

'Hey ladies,' said a deep voice from behind me, I turned to see two of the four boys - the 'leader' and the one with the crazy hair. 'Can we buy you a drink?'

'Go ahead,' said Beth, not smiling at all. You little devil, I smiled, you're a pro at this.

Ordering two more beers, the guys took seats next to us - the caramel haired one next to me and the other next to her. 'I'm Alex,' he said as he pulled up a stool.

'I'm Rachel,' I smiled back. 'This your first year?'

'Second,' he nodded, taking a sip of his beer. 'This place is a riot, you'll love it.'

After only 20 or minutes of small talk with the unnervingly attractive boy, Beth decided it was time to go and made up an excuse to pull me away too.

'Wait, can we get your numbers?' asked the other boy, pulling his phone out of his jeans.

'Okay,' said Beth, sounding rather uninterested. I could tell playing hard to get was annoying the guy, but I could tell he was loving it too.

'There,' I said to Alex after punching my number into his phone. He took it from me and a small smile came across his face as he looked down at it.

'Bye boys,' exclaimed Beth confidently, wrapping her arm around mine.

'Bye!'
