Chapter 24~Safe in my arms.
~Tony’s POV~
We got home and I carefully took Kari in my arms. I carried her bridal style up the stairs and to her room as she stirred into my chest. I placed her on her bed and put a blanket on her. I headed to my room and got the teddy bear that I had bought earlier. I walked back into Kari’s room with the teddy bear in hand and placed it next to her. I sat there for a while just looking at her. Minutes later, she turned on her side and took the teddy bear in her arms as she cuddled with it. I smiled a bit. I walked out of the room and headed downstairs to make some food for her. I figured she’d be hungry when she woke up. I got out a few pans and ingredients and made her some pancakes and bacon. It was late to be eating breakfast, but I made them because I knew that she loved them so much. I was just about done when I heard Kari scream from upstairs. I ran as fast as I could to her room. I saw her panicking as she shook her head violently while she grabbed it with both her hands. She looked up and noticed I was there.
“How’d I end up here? Is he gone?” her whole body began to tremble as tears started pouring from her eyes. I didn’t know what to do. I sat next to her and wrapped my arms around her. I moved my hand up and down her back to calm her as I just let her cry into my chest.
“I’ll be right back.” I said as I exited the room and headed downstairs. I fixed the food on a plate for her and took it upstairs. I entered her room and handed her the plate.
“Thanks." She said quietly as she took the plate of food. She sat there looking at the food picking at it as she took tiny bites. She pushed the plate away as a signal that she was done. She brought her knees up to her chest and just stared blankly at the wall. I grabbed the teddy bear and played around with it trying to make her laugh. I put it up to my face and made it talk. She smiled which made me smile. I handed it to her and she took it hugging it tightly. I didn’t want to ask her anything since I didn’t want to upset her. The whole day went by as she fell in and out of sleep. At night, I made sure she had everything she needed before I headed over to my room to get some sleep of my own.

I woke up to the noise of a scream. I ran out of bed and into Kari’s room. I saw Axel walking over to her as extended his hand towards her. “You’re coming with me!” he yelled. I ran over to him and yanked him back by the back of his sweater. He fell to the floor on his back as I started to repeatedly punch him without thinking. Kari called the police as I held him down and beat the living shit out of him. The cops finally arrived and took him away. After everything was over, Kari was left trembling on her bed. I stayed for a while to make sure she was ok.
“You want me to let you sleep?” I asked her.
“No. Stay with me please?”
I nodded. “You want me to sleep on the floor?”
“No. Up here.” She said as she patted the spot next to her on her bed. I did as told and climbed on the bed. We lay there for a while in complete silence. After a while, I noticed Kari’s breathing become steady meaning she was sleeping. I took that as a sign that I could fall asleep also. I fell asleep and without noticing, I had wrapped my arms around her as we both slept.
