On our way to my grandpa's house, I gave him a call letting him know we were coming. We pulled up to his house and Vic killed the ignition. He glanced over at me while I was still staring blankly at the dashboard. I was still in pretty deep thought, but I still knew he was looking at me.

"Ready?" he asked. I nodded and opened the door, finally looking away from the dashboard. He walked over and interlaced his hand with mine and we walked up to the door. I rang the doorbell and a few long seconds later, my grandpa opened the door. He shot us both a smile and let us inside.

"So, Carlee Sue, why did you come to visit me today?" he asked.

"Uh, well, first of all, do you have a tape player?" I asked, pulling the tape out from my bag. He furrowed his eyebrows a bit, but nodded. He went into another room and came out a minute later with the tape player. We hooked it up and I slid the tape in. I watched as my grandpa's eyes widened, tears filling his eyes.

"I forgot all about this tape." he smiled. "Do you want to go to your parents right now?"

I froze for a second, I had to tell myself that this was actually happening.

I was going to see my parents who I haven't seen in 14 years.

My parents weren't dead. They were alive.

I'm going to go see my parents.

"Yes." I smiled. Vic gave my hand a little squeeze before my grandpa nodded and walked outside. We followed him and we all climbed into Vic's car, we were letting my grandpa drive.

"So where exactly are they?" I asked while he drove.

"You'll just have to see."

I ended up falling asleep in the car on Vic's lap. I woke up to see we were still driving, but our surroundings were much different. We were driving through a very secluded area, there were trees and plants all around, making it very difficult to see. I looked over at Vic who was sleeping and giggled a bit.

"So how close are we, grandpa?" I asked.

"Not very far now. About 10 minutes." he smiled.

The farther we got, the more secluded it was. There was a small, empty space of dirt that my grandpa pulled into. He killed the ignition and I sat back up. Vic was awake now and he gave me an approving look and a kiss. We all got out of the car, but we were still surrounded by trees.

"We're going to have to walk a bit." my grandpa said. We nodded and began walking behind him. We approached a clearing, and in that clearing was a cabin house.

"Is that their house?" I asked.

"It sure is. I'll let you two go alone." he smiled. I nodded and held onto Vic's hand as we approached the house. I took a deep breath in and knocked a few times on the door. I looked over to see one of the blinds open a bit, allowing the person inside to see who was at the door. It went down and a few seconds later, the door swung open. It was my mom.

"Are you lost?" she said sympathetically.

"Um, no." I replied. I didn't exactly know what to say, 'Oh hey, it's me, your daughter that you haven't seen in 14 years. How are you doing?' No.

"Who are you?" she asked, rather coldly.

"My name is Carlee.." I mumbled.

"What?" she asked, holding her hand up to her ear.

"My name is Carlee." I repeated, a little louder. Her eyes went wide and her mouth dropped in realization. She pulled me very tight in a warm embrace.

"Oh my god," she said, tears pouring out of her eyes. "Oh my god. Look at you." she cried. Tears started to form in my eyes, desperately wanting to slip out. I wiped them away, not wanting to ruin my makeup just yet.

"Come inside." she cried, letting us slip past her. "Hold on." she said, running up the stairs. I heard very faint voices and she came back down, a man-my dad, following her. They both made their way to us and my dad gave me a confused expression.

"Who are they?" he whispered to my mom.

"It's Carlee." my mom cried. My dad's eyes went wider than my mom's and he ran over to me, picking me up in the tightest bear hug I've ever received.

"Oh my god!" he yelled. A few tears fell down his face as he set me down. "Oh my god, look at how beautiful you are!" he cried. I smiled and gave them both another hug.

"You're 18 now." my mom said, choking on her sobs. I nodded and a couple of tears forced their way out of my eyes.

"Where's Chandler?" my dad asked. I froze up and I felt Vic tense up a bit beside me. He squeezed my hand a little bit before stroking my thumb with his.

How could I tell them that their only son took his own life? How could I tell them that I wasn't able to save him? How could I tell them that it was probably partially my fault?

"He's.. not here.." I cried.

"Well obviously, but where is he? Why didn't he come with you?" my dad questioned.

I felt like I was going to pass out, so I sat down. Vic sat down next to me and started tracing little circles on my back to calm me down.

"I'm sorry." I cried.

"For what?" my mom asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save him.." I cried. That was all I could say. I couldn't flat out tell them, 'Chandler killed himself and I wasn't there to save him.' It just hurt too much..

"What?" my mom asked, voice trembling again.

"I'm so sorry you guys have to find out this way. Chandler.. took his own life.." Vic said. I couldn't thank him enough for helping me out at this moment.

My dad bit down on his lip and pressed them tightly together. I could tell he was trying his hardest to fight back the tears. My mom completely started bawling. I didn't know what to do. I wanted this moment to be happy, I wanted this day to be happy. I wanted to be happy with my parents. I didn't want them to find out this way.

What a fun family reunion.
