Chapter Five: One Day I'll Heal But I'll Be Covered In Scars
~ Ariel’s POV ~
I woke up in a large room filled with loud machines, and it was difficult to move. “Where the hell am I?” I groaned.
“Ohmygod, you’re awake!” I heard Sky’s voice say, “Guys! She’s finally awake!”
Guys? What guys? I don’t know anyone other than Sky, let alone have any guy friends.
“Sweetie,” Sky said, “You’re in the hospital. There was an… incident at the concert and you had to be rushed here. But, you’re going to be okay.”
An incident? Then all of a sudden memories flew in my mind. The concert. The song. Andrew. The pain, oh god, the pain. The anger in Andrew’s eyes. Someone’s beautiful face…
I started to panic and I hear one of the machines start beeping franticly. I could feel my breaths getting shorter, a panic attack was forming. “Where – is – he?” I tried to gasp out.
“Shhhh, shhh,” Sky tried to calm me down, “He’s gone, they arrested him at the concert. You won’t have to worry about him anymore.”
A women in a white coat, who I assumed was my doctor, walked in. “Hello, hun. I see you’re awake.” She said with a smile. “I’m going to give you some medicine through your IV to help you calm down.”
I felt words get lodged in my throat so I just gave a nod.
“You gave us all a huge scare. Your friend here and the four gentlemen outside have rarely ever left your side.”
“Four gentlemen…?” I said confused.
“Oh!” Sky exclaimed, “I forgot to tell you!” She walked over to the door and motioned someone to come in. “Ariel, this is Vic, Mike, Jaime, and of course, Tony!” She giggled with excitement.
I could feel myself blushing and I felt extremely awkward. “Uh… hi?” I said softly.
“We were so worried about you, doll face!” Vic said kissing my forehead. “Especially Tony. He rarely left you!”
Tony looked over and started blushing, “Hello…” he said shyly.
“Uhm… Will someone please tell me what happened?” I said nervously. Why was he looking at me like that?
Everyone was quiet. “I think you should tell her, Sky.” Mike finally said.
“Well…” she started, “Andrew somehow found out that we were going to the concert. He showed up and started causing trouble. He started to…” She had begun crying and she was choking up a bit, “He started to hurt you again. I basically told him to fuck off and leave us alone. He pushed me and we both fell down. He started beating on you… I didn’t know what to do…” She started sobbing.
Vic went over and helped calm her. “As we were playing Tony saw what was happening.” Vic said. “All of us jumped off the stage and tried to help you.” He sighed, “Punches were thrown, but security came just in time.”
“I carried you back stage and called an ambulance…” Tony spoke up.
“Th – That was you?” I gasped. He gave a nod to say ‘yes’. Memories started to flow back into my mind. “Ohmygod, please tell me I didn’t ask if you were my guardian angel out loud.”
Tony giggled, “Yeah… you did.” He smiled. He looked beautiful when he smiled. It was the kind of smile that made you smile just by seeing it.
I could tell I was blushing, but for once I didn’t care. “How long was I out?”
“You were in a coma for five days…” Jaime said sadly.
“But the doctors said that we can take you home tomorrow!” Sky said cheerfully.
I started to rub my wrist like I do every time I was nervous. Then the realization came to me that they most likely could see my cuts and scars. I started to bite my lip and tried to hold back tears.
Vic must have realized what I was thinking about. “Ariel, Darling, it’s okay.” He took my hand in his. “We’ve all gone through some rough times. But just know that we’re going to help you through this, all five of us. You’re going to be okay, I promise.”
I began to cry, “Why are you all so nice to me? I’m like a complete stranger to you guys…”
They all smiled. Tony spoke up softly, “In the past five days while you were… asleep… we have grown to love you dearly. Sky has told us everything about you pretty much. You’re like family now. All we want to do is make you feel safe again.”
I was stunned. I have never heard Tony speak that much at one time. I felt a smile come across my face. They actually cared about me.
“Thank you guys so much,” I finally choked out, “For everything. You guys have no idea how much this, how much you all mean to me.”
They all huddled around me and we had a big group hug. “GOD, WE LOVE YOU!” Jaime yelled.
I smiled even more, “I love you all too.”
